The Ravens were the better team last night but the Bills won.

The Bills were a bit like KC a couple seasons ago who kept pulling out improbable wins week after week to earn the #1 seed.

I have no desire to see the Bills face the Ravens again in the playoffs.

The Bills out gained them by a lot, won the turnover margin, time of possession, and of course, they had more points.  Their QB was the best player on the field from either team, and certainly had a better night than Lamar.  About the only thing that could be said that Ravens did better was run.  Henry is an absolute beast and they had him going, no doubt.   I fail to see how they were the better team.  Harbaugh was certainly not the better coach, clocking another late game collapse, blowing a double digit lead for the 18th time as Ravens HC.  (I think that is now 7 or 8 with Lamar)

That was two heavyweight offenses going at it, right to the final gun.  Neither defense showed well last night.  Both are better than they looked, but these are really great offenses.

  2. So, I get why there is a fair bit of negativity around this game.  The Bills won the playoff game but it could have gone the other way.  There are many unknowns about this years team.  We are relying on some better play from returning players and upgrades in play from new players.  We have not seen it yet.

Yet, I think this is the best team the Bills have fielded in the Allen era.  As always, we need some luck along the way, but I am very confident in this version of the Bills, top to bottom, players, front office, and coaching.  Tonight we begin the journey, and I plan to enjoy it.   As for tonight’s game, the Bills are the better team, with the better QB, and better coaching in my view.  They win the opener.

Not surprising....  Kid has some nice tools to work with, but he's raw overall.  Gotta work on his bend and flexibility.  He knows how to use his hands and he has a good motor, but he's got some work to do.  He's someone that will benefit from reps in practice and working with the coaches and trainers and, hopefully, might provide something later this season.

I agree. I certainly did not see the Bills trusting him in this spot. By all accounts he is going to need some time.  Hopefully, by playoff time his is a legit option.

It’s pretty crappy for those looking to find updates on this weeks game and discuss this weeks game….which is what this thread is for imo.  Josh vs Lamar is worthy of its own thread.  One ravens fan falling on his sword for Lamar vs the entire message board in our weekly game thread isn’t the place imo.   I want info on the game, yet have to wade through page after page to find any info.

I was guilty of it too, that’s why I created another thread for this.  Yet he refuses to post in it with rebellious intent and everyone continues to feed the troll.

And you’ll still be all upset whining and crying about it in our weekly game thread instead of a thread dedicated specifically for you so that you don’t turn this thread into something that sucks.

I appreciate your effort to marginalize the Ravens Troll.  You can’t help it if he is not bright enough to take the hint.  I lived in MD 23 years.  Trust me - that’s pretty common among Ravens fans.

It only hit him in thebhand because the TE made a miraculous play to come back to an underthrown ball.

Wait Josh pass was a perfect pass event though the TE had to come back to an underthrown ball however Lamar Jackson's pass was "not perfectly thrown" even though it hit Andrews in the stomach? This is wicked work.

How am I a troll all I'm doing is defending my guy just as you guys are defending your guy.

I do think he will be way more than a nothing burger.  I think he'll be one of the 3 CBs on the field in crunch time.  He's energy has been infectious amd he's actually played some good CB in practice.  I think the Ravens are playing the long game with Alexander.  If his knee was as bad as some think they would have kept Jalen Armour Davis.  JAD had a great camp and multiple team out in a waiver claim for him.

Make up your mind.  Is he a key piece or not?  By the way, coming to an opposing team’s fan website to pick arguments with those fans is the very definition of troll.  This is the last food you will get from me.

They actually weren't count on Alexander.  We signed Awuzie to be CB2.  They gives us Wiggins and Awuzie outside and Humphrey in the slot. Once Alexander became available it was Lamar who was Alexander's teammate at Louisville who talked him into coming.  Alexander was more of a luxury than a necessity.

Great.  A Ravens troll to annoy everyone this week.  By the way, the post I was responding to was indicating what a great addition Alexander was, making the Ravens even more insurmountable.  I was simply pointing out his addition is a nothing burger.  On that I agree with you.

I do not feel confident at all in this matchup.

The only thing the Ravens did was go out and get Jaire Alexander and Malaki Starks, adding to an already elite secondary.

Going to need Palmer or someone like Kincaid to step up.

I won’t ever count us out because we have #17, the best player in the league IMO.

    Go Bills

Alexander has not practiced since August 9 and is unlikely to play.  His frequent injury status is the reason he was available.  He has not been elite in performance for quite some time.  The Ravens were counting on a bounce back by Alexander but so far it looks like they may have lost that bet.

If that is true it will take longer. But he isn't here just to sit on the PS and rehab IMO. At some point he is here to be on the roster.

I would not be surprised if Davis ends up on the active roster at some point later this year, but it would be because of injury most likely.  I think the Bills are satisfied with the players and their roles in the WR group right now, barring some collapse or severe underperformance on someone’s part.   That said, Davis is a better option than what they had on the practice squad.

    All eyes on cornerback

There isn’t a bigger uncertainty than what’s going on with the Bills’ boundary cornerbacks. The headliner is Tre’Davious White, the team’s No. 2 cornerback, as he rehabs from an injury that the Bills are being primarily tight-lipped about. White’s place in the starting lineup to begin the year was secured when rookie first-round pick Maxwell Hairston suffered an LCL sprain that landed him on Injured Reserve to begin the year.

Making it even more complicated than just White’s and Hairston’s injuries, top cornerback Christian Benford hasn’t practiced since Aug. 21. That includes the team’s only session last week. However, unlike White, Benford was seen doing some work on the side with the strength and conditioning staff.

In the playoffs, the Bills saw what not having Benford could do to their defense. Considering he leveled up his game during the summer, potentially not having him to start the season — on top of the injuries to White and Hairston — could be a massive blow.

While it looks a bit bleak at the moment, the fact that Benford did something on the sidelines during practice last week should be seen as a positive. Having been burned by injuries in the past, the Bills have been extremely cautious when it comes to having their players ready to play when they’re needed the most. Especially when they have ample time ahead of a game that counts toward their standings, most 50-50 calls for practice with key players will result in keeping them off the field.

Benford may have been good enough to practice on Wednesday. There’s a chance the Bills may have just wanted to put him in bubble wrap ahead of the far more important three days of practice leading up to the Ravens game than risk one practice. When you add in the opponent, all the mystery around White for Week 1, on top of the questions at safety, Benford instantly becomes their most important player on defense. The outlook without Benford and White means two of Ja’Marcus Ingram, sixth-round rookie Dorian Strong or practice squad veteran Dane Jackson would be the starters against Lamar Jackson and company.

If Benford can play, it cuts the field in half due to his exceptional talent, and the Bills can then strategize to provide ample support to whoever is on the other side through their usual zone strategies. If White isn’t ready to play, who might get the start at the other boundary spot? The decision likely comes down to either Ingram or Strong. On one hand, Ingram has some game experience and made a pair of big plays last season in Miami. Though he’s been in a battle for a roster spot all summer, and until recently, it looked like his spot was instead going to go to Jackson.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the Bills went with Strong in the starting lineup, as it seemed he had separated from Ingram and Jackson in the bubble conversation over the last couple of weeks. Strong hasn’t been perfect, but he does at least provide some ceiling plays that Ingram didn’t show enough of during camp. On top of that, one of Strong’s strengths in college was his ability as a run defender from the boundary, which, as even casual observers know, will be needed in droves against the run-centric Ravens. Regardless of who plays, the Bills know they have their hands full in a game projected to yield the highest point total of all the Week 1 games.

So in other words, pure speculation on Benford absent any real knowledge and the usual woe is us the Ravens are  such a great team Bills fan BS.

Don't believe so, ass  thought I read someplace all teams could not have any practices or activities from about this past Thursday until next Wednesday with the exception of the two teams playing next Thursday night.

This makes sense as it corresponds with usual regular season preps according to the contract.

  11. I feel bad for Hamler as he seemed like a great guy who loved being part of the Bills, but he has had two years to make his case and they must feel he is topped out.  Time to give someone else a chance there.  Same for Davidson really.  He did not show improvement this camp, and in fact, the opposite overall.  New Blood time.  Neither was surprising.

It occurs to me at times that maybe the Bills FO knows more than the fans, sometimes. Is that possible?

A radical concept that many fans around here have difficulty with.

Get in shape and elevate if an injury happens.  I think Poyer passes Hamlin on the depth chart by October.

Highly unlikely he passes Hamlin. He is obviously there for insurance and mentorship as one of their 4 safeties is a raw rookie at this point and their starter is a second year guy still learning.  Poyer is not playing unless there is an emergency.  Actually a good depth move for them.

Nations leading tackler last year in college. 14 tackles in two pre season games. We can agree to disagree on Thompson. Broken leg in 23 and torn Achilles in 24 aged 31 years old. I would take the 23 year old rook any day of the week. Way more upside.

The bills do not need upside in that 5th LB spot.  They need someone that can play in the event of injury and is not learning on the job. They already have their local Rudy story on the roster.  One is enough, thank you.  Agree to disagree.

Been in the theatre.... I see Shavers made it. Do we think that means 6 receivers?

I believe so, given likely roles, but I guess we will see soon.  I think both Samuel and Moore make it as was expected all along.

Would have made more sense than a combo of shaq  Thompson and Kaden Prather.  Should have taken him in the 7th round. We all knew Prather was not making this team to begin with. Dumb.

Ok then.  Dolac was not making the team over Thompson either.
