    Here comes Jeremy and Joe to spend the day saying it’s about our offense against their defense. It’s been about our defense never being able to stop the chiefs offense but these two will just continue to speak with no clue. It’s infuriating. Wtf do people actually watch? Maybe we can make a drinking game where you take a shot everytime they say “game script” Someone taught them this phrase and they both can’t say it enough. Doesn’t matter if it applies, it’s just an unhealthy obsession

    They are awful.  I have stopped listening to them all together.  I just can’t. It is like listening to a conversation between middle schoolers.

    Yes, but what’s your point? Do you know what the Bills offer for this year was? Beane seemed genuinely surprised by Hollins decision to take the Pats offer.  I don’t think you can just assume he was low balled.  The Bills tried to sign him and he chose to leave.  That is all we know.

    I would rather keep a good defensive coach who took two Mark Sanchez-led teams to the AFCCG out of the division. He'll build a physical roster that will give us problems on offense.

    Do you know how long ago that was? Ryan was washed up when he was here.  He is completely clueless now.

    Fair 'nuff

    Don't get me wrong, I think the Bills defense has its issues right now.  But I think Babich is a fine young DC.  I think he's getting a weird case of the finger-pointies from fans right now.  Now, if we're still getting time outs due to 10 men on field or penalties for 12 men on field in 2 games, I'll get back to you.

    To me, the fundamental problem with the Bills D is that it's built to work like a net, where every player on the D knows his role, knows how his assignment changes with post-snap changes on O and the actual route choices receivers make, and executes.  Part of the net moves, and the rest of the net adjusts to follow it. It's the reason the Bills D can perform well and rank highly without 3-4 stars, with just decent guys.  It's the reason it can absorb the loss of a starter or 2 and still function well if the backup also knows his job and does it.

    But right now, we've got too many newbies.  We've got Dorian Williams, we've got Cam Lewis, we've got Rapp and Bishop, we've got changes on the DL.  Part of the net moves, and the rest of the net does not adjust or adjusts the wrong way and the result is guys out of position.  They're not missing tackles because they don't know how to tackle for the most part, they're missing tackles because they're out of position and 0.5 sec slow.

    Either it will improve as starters return and as young starters get more game time, or it won't.  Can't tell you which right now.

    I assume you mean Josh McDaniels, not Mike McDaniel, and no, actually, I don't concede that at all.  And if "many people" don't disagree, I guess that doesn't concern me much unless those "many people" have actually followed McDaniels chequered career outside NE

    Bart Scott didn't come up with his MadBacker quip in a vacuum or on his own.  He came up with his quip because it was known.

    Outstanding post.  Thanks.

    Meyers is an enigma and might prove how bad the coaching staff in Vegas has been.

    Not advocating to acquire him but there is this tidbit:

    I was reading up on him for fantasy football and he lines up in the slot around 35% of the time last season… yet his usage there was pretty low. Only 39 (20%) of his targets were seen from that alignment.

    Id say the stats and production dictate he’s a versatile receiver who sees more production as a boundary guy.

    Interestingly enough, I believe half of his touchdowns came from the slot, so there is that. The other side of the coin was that he only scored 4.

    Thanks for this.  If he is getting more work on the boundary i think it speaks to the poor quality of other options they have had recently, although I have not studied this. I always liked him and thought he had a versatile skill set, despite being best suited for slot, not unlike Shakir. I would have loved him on the Bills when he left NE.  However, at this point, the Bills have better options.

    I have a hard time believing that he didn’t completely tear his ACL, and I also have a hard time believing that the surgery he just had was to repair an ACL. They want all the swelling down, and range of motion restored before doing that surgery— three weeks would be rushing it. Two days would be very unlikely, it seems to me. But I’m no doctor. But why make up a story? It doesn’t seem like they’re being straight.

    Would Drew Rosenhouse really lie?  I am shocked at the implication.

    https://www.si.com/nfl/one-trade-every-nfl-team-should-make-before-the-2025-deadline

    Interesting article.  On the Bills front, this article would have us acquiring CB Alontae Taylor from the Saints for a 4th, and WR Jakobi Meyers from Vegas for a 4th (although it also has Meyers goign to Arizona for a 4th).  It has us trading Dawson Knox to, of all places, Carolina for a 5th.

    I know nothing about Taylor, but we need CB help, and Meyers would add some boundry juice to the WR room.  Don't like losing Knox, but if it clears cap space that's fine.  Otherwise I see little reason for the move.

    Thoughts?

    Other players on the move in this article I'd like to see the Bills go after include:

    --DT Simmons; DE Hendrickson; and RB Kamara or Pollard.

    I think we need to strengthen the interior DL, add a CB, and a backup RB at the deadline.  WR would be nice, but as we are scroing 30+ a game, not sure how necessary at this juncture.

    There was a time when I would have loved Jacobi Meyers on the Bills but we are well past that time.  The Bills have solved their slot WR problem, in spades, and there is no is no role for Jacobi on this team.  The Bills like their depth at CB a great deal more than average fans do.  It would have to be a significant upgrade to White for this to make sense  and that simply is not the case.  Trading Knox for a 5th is an idiotic idea.

    Things I’d like to see this weekend;

    1: Henry under 3 catches and 40 yards

    2: NE RB by committee under 90 total yards rushing

    3: Maye under 170 yards passing

    4: The WR who shall remain nameless under 4 catches and 35 yards

    5: No NE ST TDs

    6: JA17 at least 1 rushing and 1 passing TD to break Newton’s record

    7: Cook 100+ yards and a TD

    8: 3 or more sacks by DL

    I want to see a win.  I could not care less how they get it.

    First off, I am not rooting for either of these teams to win.  The teams and their fans are both toxic.  That said, a loss for either of them is a great thing.

    So, what is the right way to look at it given this?  The first thing I think about is if one of these teams loses and gets their 3rd loss in 4 weeks, is it possible to find 5 more losses on either of their schedule so they can potentially miss the Playoffs all together?

    REMAINING CHIEFS SCHEDULE:

    Week 5 10/6 at Jacksonville Jaguars

    * Week 6 10/12 vs Detroit Lions

    Week 7 10/19 vs Las Vegas Raiders

    Week 8 10/27 vs Washington Commanders

    * Week 9 11/2 at Buffalo Bills

    Week 10 BYE WEEK

    * Week 11 11/16 at Denver Broncos

    Week 12 11/23 vs Indianapolis Colts

    Week 13 11/27 at Dallas Cowboys

    Week 14 12/7 vs Houston Texans

    * Week 15 12/14 vs Los Angeles Chargers

    Week 16 12/21 at Tennessee Titans

    Week 17 12/25 vs Denver Broncos

    Week 18 TBD at Las Vegas Raiders

    REMAINING RAVEN'S SCHEDULE:

    Week 5 Sun, Oct 5 vs Houston

    * Week 6 Sun, Oct 12 vs Los Angeles

    Week 7 BYE WEEK

    Week 8 Sun, Oct 26 vs Chicago

    Week 9 Thu, Oct 30 @ Miami

    Week 10 Sun, Nov 9 @ Minnesota

    Week 11 Sun, Nov 16 @ Cleveland

    Week 12 Sun, Nov 23 vs New York

    Week 13 Thu, Nov 27 vs Cincinnati

    Week 14 Sun, Dec 7 vs Pittsburgh

    Week 15 Sun, Dec 14 @ Cincinnati

    Week 16 Sun, Dec 21 vs New England

    * Week 17 TBD - Flex Game @ Green Bay

    Week 18 TBD - Flex Game @ Pittsburgh

    The * shows the games I think each team has a realistic chance to lose.  Now, of course neither team is probably going to lose all of them.  But on the surface, it looks like finding the Chiefs 5 more losses after this week is a lot more feasible than finding the Ravens 5 more losses.  In fact, I will find it had to believe the Ravens will lose more than 3 times after this week at most.

    So, what do we want?  Do we want the Chiefs to lose and perhaps have a chance of them missing the playoffs entirely or do we want the Ravens to lose and give us a bit more comfort and breathing room for a possible 1 seed run where their schedule gets dramatically easier as the season goes along?  It's kind of a tough choice.  I'd love to have a chance to bury the Chiefs and have them potentially not even make the Playoffs, but the Ravens schedule is a cake walk for the majority of it.  Sure, we have the tie breaker, but man, they could pile up some serious wins after the next couple weeks and make this uncomfortable down the stretch if we slip up.

    I think the Chiefs are toast this year regardless.  I root for any loss that can be inflicted on the Ravens in this soft  schedule, that just got a lot softer with the loss of Burrow to the Bengals.  In addition to those you marked, I think the Browns will give them a tough time in Cleveland, and both MN and Pitt have a reasonable chance to beat them at home.

  10. Going to the game Thursday night with my sons.  First game in person for me since I gave up my season tickets in 2001 after 25 years.  We are at Allegheny all week, up from FL for a family/friends reunion.  I am really happy it worked out to see one final game at The Stadium.  Going to be great.  Squish the fish.

    The Ravens were the better team last night but the Bills won.

    The Bills were a bit like KC a couple seasons ago who kept pulling out improbable wins week after week to earn the #1 seed.

    I have no desire to see the Bills face the Ravens again in the playoffs.

    The Bills out gained them by a lot, won the turnover margin, time of possession, and of course, they had more points.  Their QB was the best player on the field from either team, and certainly had a better night than Lamar.  About the only thing that could be said that Ravens did better was run.  Henry is an absolute beast and they had him going, no doubt.   I fail to see how they were the better team.  Harbaugh was certainly not the better coach, clocking another late game collapse, blowing a double digit lead for the 18th time as Ravens HC.  (I think that is now 7 or 8 with Lamar)

    That was two heavyweight offenses going at it, right to the final gun.  Neither defense showed well last night.  Both are better than they looked, but these are really great offenses.
