1. Volek's agent was Ken Staninger when he signed the deal last year. This means Rosenhaus hasn't earned any money by representing Volek so far, just like in TO's case.

Rosenhaus wants to get paid, so he urges Volek to seek trade and a new contract. If he cares Volek, he'll tell Volek that he has good chance to start more games than McNair this year and becomes the full-time starter next year. But no, he doesn't care Volek, he only cares how to get more money. :D

  2. Just the unluckiest.  In fact, our draft class was unlucky last year too.  Seriously - this is quite a spate.  No first round pick last year, no first, second or third this year.  Makes it tougher - I'm pissed.  Not at Donahoe tho, this stuff happens.

No first round pick last year?

Wasn't Evans the 13th overall pick last year?

  3. SportsLine.com annual list of underrated/overrated players.

    Overrated: Lawyer Milloy, safety

He is still a tough tackler, and does a nice job near the line of scrimmage, but he struggles in man coverage. The Bills can cover him up with their zone defenses, but he is no longer a top-tier safety.

I miss our former pro-bowl left guard, I only need to think the underrated player when he was around.

Now everyone cannot agree on the most Overrated player any more.

  4. have you been watching the races this year?  the rules state they have to use the same set of tires all weekend...only exception is if the tire is damaged: then they may change them for "safety reasons."

while they might have been allowed to run that way this weekend under the current rules(pitting every 10 laps for tires), it is untrue to say they change tires all the time...not this year they don't.

    362518

Right, I shouldn't say "all the time"., I should just say F1 CAN change tires.

  5. I care.  I was there and it was a disgrace.  F-1 screwed themselves in the US.

Really?  How do you know that?  How many hot laps did Rolf do before plowing into the wall at turn 13 on Friday?  One?

Are you joking?  Tell everyone except the Ferraris "just drive slower".  Yeah, that'll make for a competetive race.

And no, they CAN'T just change tires more frequently.  They can't change tires AT ALL!!  That was the whole problem, they aren't allowed to change tires during the race and FIA refused to allow them to put the safe tires on their cars before the races started.  Maybe you should learn the basic rules before commenting on them.

There were two solutions:  Allow all teams to change tires (good solution) or add a chicane before turn 13 (bad solution but better than not having a race).  The FIA ignored both options.

Let me guess, you're one of those people who was happy about the whole thing because your guy "won".

    362403

Michelin claims the tire can be used for 10 laps if it was used at top speed on the 13th turn. So if the dirvers wanted to use it at top speed, they can change it for every 8 laps, or like I said, drive slower. And no, they can change tires, as long as using the same branch. F1 changes tires all the time at pit stops. However, the rule states they can't change to different branch of tires.

Again, no, you guess wrong. I'm no happy about the race, so I said "What a joke". And no, I'm not a fan of any F1 teams, I just do some researches to understand the whole thing. At least, I know they can change tires during the race.

Michelin never complained when they had advantage on other speedways and won all the races before US Grand Prix. And when they have one disadvantage on one race ( need to drive slower on one turn ), they want the rules to be changed so they can still win.

  6. I think it's a different story when someone's life is involved.  Going out there with unsafe tires is insanity.  The FIA should have cited the safety issue and allowed the teams to obtain safe equipment for the race.

I think the more apt example than the one you offered, in my opinion, would be if the NFL were to not allow a team to procure new helmets after the manufacturer deemed theirs faulty.  Certainly you wouldn't expect the team to take the field.  I don't know why you expected the drivers to take to the track in this instance.

Certainly the situation could have, and should have, been handled so that the fans were not the ones that ultimately were made to suffer for the problem, but I think the FIA is more to blame than the drivers.

Having said all that I don't know jack about racing and nor do I care to.  Don't ask me why I felt compelled to read the article and offer my opinion.

    362061

The 'helmet' example is very different to this situation.

It is not like the tire will explore immediately if the dirvers use it. It is unsafe when they keep using the Michelin tires at high speed on the last turn.

As I said, there're alternative ways to make sure their safety, like drive slower on that turn or change tires more frequently. But doing so, it'll make the drivers less competitive, which they don't want to sacrifice even to keep them safe.

The seven teams using Michelin tires do know drive slower on the last turn can make them safe, but they don't want to slowdown just themselves. Thus, they asked FIA to break the rule to add a chicane on the last turn so "all teams" are forced to drive slower on that turn. And of course, their request was rejected.

If it was the only solution to insure safety, the rules need to be changed right away. However, it is not the case here.

  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?s...s=f1&id=2089850

14 out of 20 cars boycotted the United States Grand Prix on a tire dispute. Michelin claim their tires are not safe at top speed on the last turn of the speedway and requested FIA to change rules.

This is crazy!! Don't ask the officials to adjust rules one day before the game because you are not good enough. How can't they just drive slower on that turn or change tires more frequently?

Maybe we should ask NFL to award us 10 points per touchdown because we have a first year QB.

  8. Not that we didn't need one before, but JJ made Kelsay and Denney look like children in practice.  Now we face him for real twice a year, although JJ more than likely will be hurt for one of the two games.

    Come on TD, Get'er donneeee!!!!

    259026

twice? With the rate Jennings got injured last few years, we should only face him once per year

  9. To clarify again, there is no difference to Raiders cap whether Woodson signed the tender or not. The tender offer would have counted the same $10M vs Raiders cap.  The only thing the Raiders could have done was to lift the FP tag, but that would have risked Woodson walking away with no comp.

By signing the tender, Woodson is now guaranteed $10M for '05, and basically forcing the Raiders to trade him.  Raiders can spite him by keeping him on the roster, but benching him for every game, but it's a very expensive spite.

    254141

Right, the point is Raiders can not lift the f-tag now.

They just restructre Cannon's contract and plan to release Middleton, Parrella, Stone, and R.Williams to get under the cap on 3/2. But if they're going to make the Moss trade, they'll have to create another 7.25M cap space. This is where Woodson's signing hurts them, lifting the franchise tag is no longer an option for Raiders.

  10. not tagging woodson = zero compensation for raiders

tagging woodson = some compenstation for raiders when they do deal him........all the early sign by woodson did was force a trade.......

i disagree with the majority -- it was a smart move tagging him........something is better then nothing........

    254083

Let's see if there's any Woodson trade before 3/2. If not, Raiders'll be in big big trouble. If you tried to use franchise tag to get some compenstation of a player, you have to take the risk that the player signs the offer immediately to mess your cap.

People who claimed that Bills should use f-tag on Jennings to get something from him always said no one signed the one year offer so early, so there's no worry. And see what happened to Raiders now.

  11. in reference to the t-tag, i think your incorrect.......i can't recall the player, but i believe the bills t-tagged someone quite some time ago and then subsequently signed him........as a result, even though that player was cut quite some time ago, they can't use the t-tag because they lost it for the length of that contract (i believe 6 years).......maybe someone remembers.......

in reference to JJ signing the f-tag, why on earth would he do that? he's looking at 10 mil in signing bonus, so why would he take the f-tag offer in the first week of free agency?? people said the same thing about peerless, and he didn't........people said the same thing about winfield, and he got 12 million in signing bonus......sorry, not a chance JJ takes it.......it would be a dumb move on his part........like i said, no risk.......

    195757

I think you may misunderstood my post. I know our transaction tag was used on Moulds several years ago and we can't use that tag before his contract is up.

My point is that, each clue can use "one franchise tag and one transaction tag" or "two transaction tags". Therefore, if Bills don't use franchise tag at all, we'll have a transaction tag available this offseason.

As for JJ, there's a possibility he signs the one-year contract. No matter what the chance you think it is, if he somehow chose to sign, we're screwed.

  12. it would not cause "havoc" to our salary cap.......as long as moulds restructures there will be room available to sign PW and tag JJ........you have to remember it is a TEMPORARY MEASURE used to trade him, not to carry him at the f-tag value into the 2005 season........we're talking a week max, and if you can't work out a trade by then and need the cash to sign a free agent, no problem, you simply lift the tag and all you missed out on were the early, over-paid free agents.......i don't see us persuing any big name free agents anyway, so we can afford to tie up the cash if it means scoring a draft pick or two........

    it's a no risk move.......

and in response to another post regarding the t-tag, the bills do not have that available.......only the f-tag......

    195709

Each team can use one franchise tag and one transaction tag or choose to use two transaction tags, so Bills do have a transaction tag available this offseason if they don't use franchise tag at all.

As for lifting the franchise tag or transaction tag, there is one scenario you didn't mention, which is that JJ can decide to sign the one-year contract after we tag him and cause "havoc" to our salary cap.

  13. If you’re Lee Evans you get single coverage all day long.  Look at his long TD catch.  It only happens because the D collapses down on Moulds and doubles him.  Pretty numbers don't tell the entire story.

Moulds is, by far, the best WR on this team and defenses know it, it's why they continually double down on him.

    146835

Right, and remember how Price does in Atlanta when no one draws double coverage from him.

Evans is a good #2 WR now, but he is not yet as good as Moulds.
