  1. Huge consensus the Bills will make the playoffs. In all sincerty, if the Bills are this confident, we may see the same vanilla offense for the entire regular season.
  2. You really need to change your name. Its very disconnected from your nonsense post.
  3. I think coaching is underestmated and often misunderstood. People use the chess vs checkers analogy with some frequency on this forum. I was a good club chess player at one point. In chess parlance, this means I could almost always beat a casual chess player, and could never ever beat someone who was a master rated player. To even it up somewhat there are handicapping systems. A good friend of mine was the NYS high school chess champion while we were in school. I could never come close to beating him in an even match. But if he had a clock of one minute total time, and I had 30 minutes of total time, I could beat him occassionally. Comparing NFL head coaches, requires understanding the handicaps they operate with. And what they do with a level playing field. Take Belichek. If you give him the best QB in the league, he wins many super bowls. If you give him the worst QB in the league, he struggles. This season Belichek is playing with no queen and one his rooks missing on the board. He should not ever beat someone with the full complement of pieces. The giants game notwithstanding, McDermott is very good at dominating games when his chess pieces (mainly due to Josh Allen) are better than the opposing teams pieces. But given even pieces in a game, he looks like a good club player not a master.
  4. This is true. The playoffs also provide the challenge that you need to string four wins in a row against playoff caliber teams to win the Super Bowl. Stringing together wins against playoff teams during the regular season also does not seem to be a McDermott speciality. I am guessing every person voting hopes the Bills win the Super Bowl, regardless of their vote. From the fine people at fanduel :
  5. Where do you think the Bills end up this season? been running this poll for some weeks If you voted previously, and wish to change your vote, you can do that pretty easily.
  6. How many points do you think the Bills would score against a good defense with five starting lineman down, and Kyle Allen at QB? Because that is essentially what the giants had to throw at our good defense.
  7. I specifically mentioned the OT for a reason. Maybe we would not have been in OT with more Josh running. But that was not my point. There is a bigger issue with the team not being able to close out games effciently. In London, the team looked completely unprepared on offense (same problem this week against the Giants). I am not certain that Josh running more is the optimal answer to coming to games with a piss poor game plan, followed by piss poor play calling. Allen's skills as passer are top 5% in NFL history. A decent coaching staff would not have to rely on him running.
  8. Niether the botched overtime against the Jets, nor the loss to the Jags had anything do with Josh not running. Its more fun to watch Josh running, but I am not sure it is less effective. It will be interesting to see if there is a change in strategy against the teams we expect to score more points against us, like the Chiefs.
  9. bengals made the final four with lots of injuries last year
  10. Oddly this could be the unique NFL season with no in season head coaching changes
  11. Herbert is a much better thrower than prescott
  12. From where the cowboys were I agree. If you are at the five or closer, and you convert, you likely get the TD. Even if Prescotts converts there, they might only end up with a FG anyway
  13. But he did a very good version of the worm after his knee was down
  14. \as a Bills fan, I am really troubled when I watch the Cowboys. McCarthy's results as a head coach the last 10 years in Green Bay and In Dallas are just to similar to the Mcdermott era Bills. I can't imagine any scenario where McCarthy ever gets the Cowboys to the super bowl.
  15. Lets just say Tyrod Taylor to "any Giants receiver" is not the same as Trevor Lawrence to Calvin Ridley
  16. So your saying, if the point total is low, its unreasonable to expect a "good" defense to stop a team with five backup lineman and a back up QB to stop a game winning drive?
  17. Why were the Giants instantly in the backfield over and over again last night? Did they not get the memo, that the Bills were above average?
  18. Why do people think the best way for QBs to avoid injury is to stand in a pocket behind an inconsistent/crappy online and get crushed several times a game.
  19. There is a whole interesting discussion that I have not seen before, on player development. I personally don't know how much is simply talent and readiness coming into the league, and how much players can be coached up. Compare Torrence and Spencer Brown, Torrence is already good. Brown still is not good. Would be better coaching matter? I don't really know.
  20. They are three and three. The bills were one one yard play away from being in third place right behind them last night.
  21. Bills need a head coach who is Allen's partner for the rest of Allen's career. Whether it was/is Bill Walsh, Bill Belichek, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Marv Levy or Andy Reid, this is the best formula for sustained championship level play. The Bills have solved the hard part they have the QB. Having a head coach who seems proud of not understanding offense (and certainly not responsible or accountable for it) seems to not be the optimal strategy. A series of OC's who leave because they succeed, or leave because they fail, have one thing in common, they leave is not a substitute. Its negligence for McDermott to be in his 6th season with Allen, and the team seems to be experimenting on how to use a world class QB. A change in coaching is no guarantee of success. The status quo shows no evidence it will ever succeed.
