Yes. For Allen, I would like to see him with more dependable WRs/TEs next year. Imagine the difference for the offense this year alone, all else being the same, if the receivers caught even half of the drops that hit them in the hands or the chest.

 

I feel the same about a less-frequently-asked (but just as important imo) question —— is Tremaine Edmunds the Bills "franchise MLB"?  I think both are poised for a breakout and become Elite third season. Both improved this year. Both have tremendous physical potential. Both have had some bad misses.

Absolutely. I'm in the same boat.

 

Both are true:

 

—Josh has made big strides this year and showed big improvement in a lot of areas. I think he's a Franchise QB.

—He's not there yet. 

 

With more reliable receivers, I think he can have a true breakout year in 2020. He showed signs this year, and next year is when he could become Elite.  That's my hope for him, and for Tremaine Edmunds. 

 

I feel the exact same about Allen and Edmunds. Both have huge obvious potential. Both have shown growth. Both have made huge plays to carry the team to a win. Both have had some horrible misses that decided losses.

Everyone involved in the decision making in throwing a 50/50 deep ball to Patrick DiMarco in double coverage — Josh, Daboll, McDermott – needs to be asked some tough questions. "Why would you think that is a good idea?"

It wasn't great. He had some tough drops. He also made some tough catches.

 

He did more today than most of our other receivers have done all season. I'd keep him, Brown, and Beasley, and then try to bring in several possible new True WR1s from the draft and Free Agency, and let it play out in training camp.

 

TE needs just as much help. I'd dump Kroft and Lee Smith.

Texans CB's had the worst passer rating against going into that game but I seen a lot of times the defensive guy was right on the WR so they were not getting separation in the second half like the first.  

 

Agreed. My only guess is they seemed to want the Brown, Beasley, and Williams out there as the WRs for every third down. But it should've been those 3 all game. No reason for McKenzie to get the amount of snaps he played today, imo

I think it's okay to give our guys more credit here. Of course Hopkins is the superior player in the long view. But the stats are pleasantly surprising because this is a production based business. This year, fluke or not, Brown was comparable in production to Hopkins, and that's pretty cool.

 

It's like, I don't know who's stats Allen is most similar to in a limited view, but if his production this year was comparable to Drew Brees or Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes, that would be a cause for celebration. Would you turn down trading for any of those guys? Probably same answer as wanting to trade Brown for Hopkins. 

 

Stats don't tell the whole story, etc, but.  Learn to take the W, my friends.

Then you have Miami with nothing to lose and everything to win, and New England playing not to lose, not to blow it, not to the Dolphins.

The numbers are nice empirical data to support what, I think, we already know — Allen has progressed, and his ceiling remains as high as ever.

 

I think you can trust the "eye test" most of the time, especially with the really visible positions like QB... Allen is passing the eye test. You can see the improved confidence and decision-making.

Could also be a feint. The Patriots have always been scummy with misleading injury reports as a way to influence their opponent's prep. We'll hear about Brady's elbow all week from sources, then watch NE come out looking to pass 50 dink and dunks all day.

Considering the cap space available, there's no upside to moving on from Hughes, even if his play does decline slightly (I'm not sure it has), you just use him more rotationally. 

 

It's valuable for the Bills to have guys like Hughes who've been in Buffalo for awhile, who has a lot of passion, who saw the difference McDermott has brought, and the progression he's made also with improving his cool-headedness from his early seasons here.

 

Hughes is already a leader on the team, but his presence next season and perhaps beyond is more valuable than whatever savings would be earned from releasing.

I don't think it can be overstated what an impact it would have for this team to beat New England on Saturday.

 

Even if the Pats beat the Fins and we don't take the division... if the McAllen Bills finally get that first win over the Pats, in their house... the shackles are off. Buffalo would be the most dangerous team in the playoffs besides Baltimore or Kansas City.
