  1. What is the bigger problem with the inability to run the ball consistently. Is it the oline or the coaching/scheme? Our run game is very vanilla, and looks to be a simple zone scheme. Theres no power, or misdirection.. The oline is doing a rather good job is pass protecting, making me think its more scheme than players.

    what are your thoughts.

The Bills have one of the top 4-5 WR groups in the NFL.

    This is a non-issue.

Doesn't matter how good your WR are. IF the QB cant hit the deep, and scare teams into playing 2 high safety the WR position doesn't matter... As of right now Allen really struggles with the deep ball. I believe he hit less than 25% on balls over 20yds. That is absolutely terrible

Absolutely. That is why a true #1 makes a difference. It is not just the plays Diggs will make. It is the way he makes people defend you as a team. It was noticeable last year that most of Allen's yards running were when he got outside, whereas go back to early 2018 before teams were spying him as a matter of course and the image of him charging right up the middle of the field like a rhino let loose was a regular sight. If the spy disappears to allow you to have a safety over the top of Diggs or to play a conventional cover 2 shell to avoid giving up the throw over the top to either of the two outside guys then it opens things up for Allen in the run game.

Teams will not be scared of the deep game until allen starts hitting the deep ball.  Allen missed brown on deep balls more than I can count. I see teams still playing 1 high even with a true 1 until Allen can prove he can hit the deep ball consistently

John Brown did pretty well as the number one guy last year. He got open with speed, quickness, and precise route running. Should have an even easier time this year.

Diggs is great because he's like John Brown on steroids. Not just a good route runner, he is the best. He's quick. Maybe not as fast as Brown (not sure). But the new element that he brings is contested catch ability, something we have sorely lacked.

Diggs ability to catch 50 50 balls is a huge asset the Bills are getting. Not sure I remember the last Bills WR with his ball skills. The biggest problem with Watkins is hes not good "in the air" getting 50 50, an attribute a good #1 needs.

  5. Does anyone know or where to get information on how often Dimarco is on the field. I wonder if the Bills running game is that much better with him out there. I wonder cause he takes a roster spot. Teams are starting to use ST LBs, and TEs as a FB to save a spot. May be worth a look.

I'm not sure how difficult this would be, but I'd love to see some study that examines the affect of team culture, coaching, situation on QBs (lets just say 1st rounders).  There's a 50% bust rate, even in top 10 pics and you have wonder about some of these situations.  Would Manuel have done better elsewhere?  Would we have ruined Patrick Mahomes?  Or never played Brady if we had picked him in the 6th round?

I believe culture says a lot, especially at the QB position. EJ would've been better off sitting a yr or 2 behind a guy like Fitzpatrick. Not saying he would've been a stud, but would've had a better career IMO... Losing your confidence is killer. You start thinking to much, and not trusting what you see. Last thing a qb can do is second guess... I was a pro EJ guys and wanted it to work out.

Is it really so difficult to indicate what you’re talking about or referencing in the title of your post?

"lowest value of draft picks" wasn't clear enough. what should the title of been, unreal.

Diggs is our first round pick.  We have already gotten a lot of value from this draft.

I totally agree. I think it just shows that its gonna be tough for the Bills to move up other than in the later rounds. If the Bills want to move up in the 2nd or 3rd round they'll probably have to give up capital in next years draft.

  8. statistically these two are very similar. Who has the more value... Bills gave up a lot for diggs, Texans only a second rounder for cooks. I like Diggs better as a player, but knowing a 2nd rounder would've got Cooks, i'd rather the 2nd for Cooks and see what the 1st rounder would land the Bills.

    Or QB

    Or TE

    Or RB

Running back I say Freddy. I know he wasn't drafted but the Bills picked him up before he had any run with another team. Also didn't Spiller get a 1 yr deal after his rookie deal?... TE isn't as big of deal to hit big in the draft. Bills seem to have consistant Avg TE play.... and QB well of course.

  10. This draft is so deep at WR that if the Bills draft a WR in the first 4 rounds theres a good chance he could be a starter at some point this season. A WR with size we become valuable in the redzone and probably put Beasly on the bench in those situations. The Bills also need to get younger at the position. Beasley may not be on this roster come the 2021 season if the Bills draft the right guy.

They didn’t even take a sniff at Pierre Desir when he was on the market, and he was perfect for McD’s heavy zone scheme (in theory).

I think they’re content with their CB’s.  Might add one in the draft if the value is there.

cant disagree there. They'll definitely draft another CB... Just a thought about Kirkpatrick, especially since they have the cap space providing its a short moderate deal.

I don’t know much about him, but anytime I see the majority of teams fans happy their first round pick gets released it’s a bit of a red flag. Just basing it off comments he seemed to be torched quite a bit in Cinci and had some very costly penalties.
Im sure one of our more knowledgeable members on here will have better insight though

Redskin fans would say the same about Norman. One thing I trust most about this team is the coaches ability to coach on the defensive side of the ball....Added solid depth is always a good thing.
