Really? I mean in the sense it brought us Josh, yes. But hit on every pick?

    1 - Josh Allen - massive hit

    1 - Tremaine Edmunds - hit

3 - Harrison Phillips - jury is out.... I would have said miss as recently as week 14. Put together a decent little period in December and January.

    4 - Taron Johnson - hit

5 - Siran Neal - meh... decent special teamer but year 3 and he has been no more than a spot duty backup on D

5 - Wyatt Teller - hit but for someone else

    6 - Ray Ray McCloud - miss

    7 - Austin Proehl - nepotism.

how is ray ray mcloud a miss? 6rd pick and this yr was one of the best returners in the League. Thats a hit to me

I love the player but that is a wild idea.

Let Milano walk, move Edmunds outside. Edmunds may benefit from being able to think less and focus on using his rare size and speed.

Find an instinctive field general and get them in the middle of that D. Preferably someone with elite physicality.

I’m hoping every move on the D side of the ball is made to beat KC. If you want to play zone against Mahomes you better come up and hit his WR and TE.

I say let Edmunds walk cause I dont think they could afford both him and jones.

  3. Any one that doesnt think star isnt worth it doesnt understand football... He usually takes on 2 olineman freeing up backers. Look how often Edmunds got caught in the wash, or was met by a guard at 4yds. Thats because the dline couldnt take on blockers. Star is basically an olineman on D his job is to "block" as many dlineman as possible, making a tackle here and there.   Not many players are that selfless and willing to do the dirty work like Star.

  4. Dude youre not even close to right, Mahomes cap hit this year was 5mil. Bucs wrong Brady is at 27mil and evans around 18mil. Packers arents close with Rodgers cap at 21mil and Adams I believe at 16mil

    Wrong.

Mahomes contract averages $45,000,000 a year while Hill averages $18,000,000 a year. So yes, the Chiefs meet and exceed your arbitrary threshold. The Saints and Packers both average above $45,000,000 a year between their quarterback and top receiver, the Buccaneers more than $40,000,000.

It's possible -- in fact I'd argue if there are two positions where you should spend on top talent this all suggests it's quarterback and receiver.

Are you kidding -- how about the other three teams playing last weekend?

Buccaneers, Packers, Chiefs all fit the bill of highly paid quarterback and at least one highly paid receiver. Two of them are playing in the Super Bowl. The Saints, a stones throw from making it have consistently contended paying Brees and Thomas.

Yet none of them have a 30mil qb and a 20mil WR, so no im not kidding you.

Good list (for real, no sarcasm). But really only Hopkins and Jones average over $20M/yr. The Cowboys were stuck having to pay Cooper since they traded away some 1sts for him.

And Thomas kind of answers your original question. The Saints are paying Thomas and Brees. They start every offseason way over the cap. But somehow they figure out payrolls, and are still there to compete every season.

Good back and forth, but it really isnt that much of a worry for the Bills. Especially considering Josh's extension and Diggs' new deal wont kick in until after next year when the cap gets back to normal and makes some big jumps.

    good stuff go bills

Comprehensive list of WRs with a cap hit greater than 20m

    Hopkins 27.25

    Jones 22

    Allen 20.025

    Cooper 20

I don't think we're suddenly going to see a ton of 20+mm cap hits for WRs, especially with the cap (probably) going down this coming season. Diggs is the 16th highest cap hit at WR, which isn't low enough to be insulting. I predict he'd play out at least 1 more season before trying to restructure.

Josh's (hopefully soon to come) mega deal won't kick in until the 22-23 season (at the earliest).

Beane is surely aware of this and it will effect the batch of UFA signings this off-season, but we're hardly in cap trouble. A small bit of planning will make it very easy to retain Diggs and Allen without destroying our cap.

Agree with everything you said. Just hope Diggs plays along, cause I cant blame him for asking for more.

    Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

Also, why are you crying about this again? Diggs is under contract for 3 years. Plenty of teams pay both WR and QB.

Rodgers wasnt over 30 and Adams wasnt near 20...

Question for you: Which WRs are making $25M? Are there many of them? Or is the Hopkins contract, much like his trade deal, an anomaly?

possibly but there are enough making over 20m, and if you think youre the best youre gonna want to be the highest paid... Hopkins set the new bar IMO

Josh will count for similar until after his 4th or fifth year just like Mahomes did.  So we've got a year or two to really worry about it.  Diggs has earned a raise, but he just had his contract redone THIS year, so my guess if he gets his redone it's not going to be at that 25 million dollar level (I'm not saying he's not worth it.)

Makes sense to me, hopefully thats how it plays out

Diggs just finished year 2 of a 5 year contract that he just signed. He already thought he was the best WR in the league when he signed it.

We are at least another season away from him asking to re-do the deal. And could probably get ahead of it by simply making his remaining 3 years fully guaranteed (right now he has NO guaranteed money left).

We have a couple years to figure it out.

I agree and Hope But when your the 16th highest paid at your position, and just had the season you did you and your agent are going to realize you're underpaid. Again look what happened with Hopkins.

As if we are the first team to have two top players on the roster that we want to retain. SMH

If you're not just trolling -- I'd expect to see a lot fewer free agent signings of the type we saw last season. It's going to be rookies, resigning our own impact players, and rolling the dice on veteran minimum type players or players with injury or character concerns to fill out the roster rather than mid to high priced free agents.

not trolling show me a team with a 30mil QB and a 20mil WR that consistently contends?
