  1. Edgerrin did not protect the football in the red zone...TWICE. The second time was with less than three minutes left in the game, at the 1-yard line, in a three-point game.

My eyebrows were crinkling earlier after the Colts gave Dom two carries in the redzone after Edge looked so freaking good on every snap I saw.

Then they go back to Edge when you think they're nuts if they don't, and he fumbles on his first redzonecarry on 1stdown from the galdanged 1!!!

Then Weiss hands it to Brady to take his pick downfield from his own 1 on 1stdown (I thought it was a great call) and instead of throwing it away he chucks only his first jumpball of the game's critical series.

And after Manning follows up freebie #3 with possibly the worst sack of 2004, one of the league's very best kickers horribly gags what is only the 2nd/3rd real pressure kick of his career.

Somebody needs to tie Peyton and Vgajt together with 3' of rope for an hour and let Edge hold the camera..........

  2. Before everybody blows Brady, I will say this: he looked pretty damn good up until crunch time, and then he (yes, Brady, not Manning) did almost everything he could to give that game away. The pick down the middle of the field (maybe not his fault, but still), the sack/fumble (at a time when the last thing he wanted to do was take a sack WITH a fumble...lucky f'in Patriots they had someone right there to recover), and then another 3rd down pass that should have been an easy pick, in his own end of the field, with under two minutes left.

No doubt Rubes. The NE staff really entrusted the game to him late on some good gutsy calls in their own end, but he made horrible decisions. Thats really unlike him and I wonder if it will have a significant effect on how Weiss/NE calls a game the next few weeks.........or even 'til Brady shows them they can go back to bidnessasusual.

  3. But I love that the two guys who were feuding not so long ago each took it upon himself to screw up on the last two Colt plays.

Fessin up time. I took your "mawegonetabreakoutthecohnlicka" and topped it with "Paytongoneabeatupthekicka" when Vgajt missed one of the biggest kick of his career.

    It killed!!!

I can't believe after both guys were so good, we saw 2-3 heaves across the field late, fumbles, aaaawwwful sacks and so much game effecting ineptness late.

I hope the NFL/owners continue to agree on scheduling such great opening matchups. That was a football game everybody should get to see....

  4. The fates were smiling on the Patriots again tonight, but damn that offensive line of theirs is impressive. If we had an O-Line like that, we'd cruise into the playoffs this year.

Props to the Pat Oline for repeatedly bailing themselves out of some very tough holes, but Brady was a freakin magician tonight. Again. That guy may well have the very best pccket presence in the league.

Yet oddly enough he made a couple bizarroworld decisions in the lsdt couple mins, (MSTmoment: holy chit this guy's drunk as a lord; he started typing that/this sentence 7mins ago) sort of like 2ofthelast3 possessions in the last SB. And those splitsecond singularmoments opened a game that should have been closed 3-4 series ago. Again.

As much as I'd like it to be otherwise, it's probably am aberration instead of a trend. And one could expect the Pats' to deal with it bt becoming unusually conservative in the 4thqrtr over the coming weeks(3?).

  5. Great game. Thanx to Kalinin for the big turnover on the 3rdgoal and to Afinogenov for being the wrong man back when Guerin stole the puck and started the rush on the 4th.

If I had seen that damned Kovalchuk bring the puck up one more time, I don't think I could have loosened my sphincter for a week. That boy is just plain frightening.

Another solid outing for Esche. But he's going to have to be better if the US wants to win two more games.

Regardless of who's in the finals, I'm still really annoyed it's not going to be a 3gameseries. What does anybody gain by minimizing the greatest hockey played on this planet?-(

Man is Guerin a couple sammiches shy...Dude is an absolute animal. There was a story about him beating the snot out of one of his teammates AFTER swinging his stick at him in PRACTICE.

I remember that. He two-handed the guy right in the the neck and then put the wood to him again when he was down. I think he also got suspended once for giving somebody splinter-breath during a game. He ain't all there but he'll come in handy in the final if we can sneak past the Finns.

I know Hully's brother Bart pretty well. Good dude.

I'm going to assume Bart had the fortune to miss out on all the loudmouth genes that Brett apparently hoarded.

Lindy really annoys me with his overcoaching. Nothing like asking guys to do stevestojan they are obviously not capable of.

Hey Zhitnik is a great skater and defender. I'm sure if we give him another 1,643 chances he'll be able to run the point on the PP. Besides if he gets too tired we can just use Wooley against opponent's top lines. Now quitcherbitchin while we watch Holzinger takes this face-off!

Love Blake. Wish we could have gotten him for Peca instead of the "pillow soft" Connelly.

Time to break out the antivenin?. Blake attacked the net hard all night and still got robbed with the saveofthegame in the 3rd. I don't know if he's due or d00med.

Roenick is one of the truly great guys in hockey.

He might be a great guy but when he's not right next to you and you can't tell him stfu Jeremy, he's bordering on unbearable. I even thought I've heard Clements take a couple minor potshots at him and that's surprising considering JR is wearing the orange and black.

Is it bad for me to root against Team USA for the sole reason of not wanting to hear Roenick's voice again?

Yes, you'll have to find one additional reason. Will Ron Wilson do?-)

  6. Bill Guerin is a madman

    Chris Chelios is an alien

Jason Blake is going to score a big goal in this tourney (unless Wilson scratches him)

Damn you Kasparitus, why aren't you an American?

Afinogenov looks good when he's actually playing for a coach who lets him do more than kill penalties and doesn't ask all 4'11" of him to defend the low slot.

I hope Brett Hull moves back to Canada; they can have him.

I don't need a Rhodes Scholar in the booth but I would prefer somebody with more wit and insight than a houseplant. Who the hell unwired that fool's jaw?

    Kalinin looks good as well.

I'd really really really like to have Deadmarsh going into this 3rd period.

    Mike Richter wouldn't hurt either.

Bring it home boys, I want another shot at the Canuckleheads!

Oh yeah, and make that 8 of us.....

  7. I just can't believe my wife puts up with this

As long as you continue to...ahem...tuck her in properly, you can watch all the ball you want!

And as far as you not working for the NFL, as far as I'm concerned if you said it, it happened. So get the hell away from the computer and grab your clicker (not that one) so I can read your report tomorrow!

  8. Just to clarify, I didn't see this guy play too much neither as a Steeler or as a Bill but boy those Pittsburgh fans hate this guy (at least his last year with the team)

    check this out.

    http://www.stillers.com/article_show.asp?ID=1127

That is hysterical; and not inaccurate.

If I were that twisted and obsessed (zip it smartasses) I'd make a similar page reviewing Posey's 2003 season.

And before I begin to sound like a disgruntled nutjob stalker, let it be known that I have already seen Posey be a little more physical than he was last year; i.e. I haven't seen him turn his back to any slot receivers.

  9. Jason Gildon, we hardly knew ye...

Yeah you did; he's a perfect clone of Posey. Weak against the run, not a good coverage backer and only effective as a rusher when he's unblocked;-)

Although I give Posey big props for the play he made in the Titans game which is far and away the very best play I've ever seen him make in a Bills uni.

  10. Our piss poor run defense stinks again

    Wha?!?!?!

The Lions backs averaged 2.9yrds a carry and Detroit had a grand total of 75 rushing yards in 60 minutes of football; and that total includes the QB's!

They went 3-12 on 3rddown and had the ball for 22 whole minutes!

And you're kvetching about defending the groundgame?!?!?!

Wow, you make Nervous Guy look like Josey Wales......

  11. The only real problem I have so far is nothing more than an unsubstantiated suspicion.

I know he had to be pissed after the Tennessee scrimmage and that he was going to ride the boys hard about the penalties. But I thought he had to be careful about when he did it and I'm not sure he was. The first practice after a game can be a dangerous time because 1) tired muscles are more prone to injury and 2) the boys probably had a bit of a bender Sat night after the game which means both tempers and attention can be short on Monday morn.

Well if I recall correctly, Monday morn was when JP was injured while they were running a full-speed 2minute drill, and I'm thinking that somebody else also got dinged at that practice.

I'm not saying any injuries are Coach's fault, but I wonder if Mularkey's temper didn't get the best of him and maybe he had the boys grinding a little more than they should have been a day earlier than they should have been.

  12. I always root for the US but I just realized that with asses like Hull, Modano, Tkachuk, Smolinksi being coached by a jackass like Ron Wilson that I suddenly wasn't averse to the idea of seeing them get worked over a little. However that sentiment didn't last long as I caught myself involuntarily muttering a mild expletive in the 2ndperiod when Brodeur made a tough save.

So once again in the annals of human history, no matter where the head leads, the heart will go where it will.

  13. First he made Quincy Carter useful, now Vinny.

Not to mention Ray Lucas, Jeff Hostetler, Drew Bledsoe and Tom Tupa.......Tom freaking Tupa! Unreal......

if you didn't understand...keep reading it over and over..the point he made is pretty clear to me..

The point he made compares arguably the greatest LB in the history of the NFL with a journeyman QB. When Parcells cuts Joe Montana or John Elway for blowing a couple rails, then maybe you can draw the comparison. Until then AD is right on the money.

  14. Team USA is getting absolutely hammered. I think the 'Nucks have 14 scoring chances to 0 for the US. Am I a bad American for not minding seeing the pack of ashholes we put on the ice(and behind the bench) get it handed to them by Team Canada?

And who is that braying jackass ESPN put in the booth with Thorne? I can hardly watch the game with that idiot running his piehole. I can't believe I'm wishing for Bill Clement. <_<

  15. I haven't seen a game. Anyone have some thoughts, for whatever time Evans has been on the field, of his blocking?

The only game I watched closely was the Denver "game", and I saw examples of Evans being a very willing blocker. He's not likely to blow anybody up but he did look fearless attacking bigger, stronger players (i.e. 'backers). While he won't be dominant, I think he will be aggressive and reasonably effective.

  16. I could care less if Kordel bites the pillow but I do care that he is a horrible QB. I have good friends who pull for Pittsburgh so I watched a lot of their games with them and his last couple of seasons Kordel was friggin' terrible. His last season with Chicago was friggin' terrible. Very inaccurate and no self-confidence or 'fire' that I could see.

    Thank You!

But you forgot to mention that he's dumber than a bag of hammers.....

  17. No way the Raiders keep Gannon and Collins. Can you say RJ vs DF. One of the two is gone, guaranteed.

Why would they cut one? If they cut Gannon they only have Collins who has never started a game for them: if they cut Collins they only have Gannon who is 104. You don't cut talented players just because you're afraid of a controversy, the competition is only likely to keep both guys on their toes.

Al Davis may be an ass but he's not a stupid ass. At least I don't think he is...........

  18. BTW, that wasnt a spoiler at all! Dont worry

Spoiler is when the game or event is going to be shown on the weeknight at 8PM on NBC. What we saw today was Live, or very close to it. Its the weekend, remember?

Or when you're on the West Coast and it's being televised 3hrs later and you don't want to know who won. Like today when I walked in the door and turned it on 2 minutes into the 1st qrtr and then made the mistake of flipping on the computer only to accidentally see the results.

    Oops.....

HEY!  I am sorry for putting the topic in the header.  I honestly wasn't thinking.  Sorry!

No worries Turd (did I just type that?), it wasn't for gold and I wasn't all that interested anyways so it wasn't a big deal.
