Sorry for your loss. I don’t remember anyone saying they had it figuered out. That’s why we laughed at the folks who want to kiss life goodbye for months on end.

No one knows where it’s headed good or bad. They will play with or without fans. The NFL can’t afford to miss a full season. Careers are short, players very rarely take a year off then come back and play as good as they once did. The timing gives them an advantage over all the other sports, they are formulating a best/worst case scenario, I’d bet both scenarios include games being played.

It may pan out as you say game wise, we can only hope so, but when push comes to shove football and other sports are so unimportant that they won’t even make the list of what needs to be protected. A lot of fans  seem to have a myopic view concerning this virus issue.

The best case scenarios I have read about is the general public not seeing a vaccine till next spring if all things go as hoped for,  Only front line health workers would see something sooner, but only under emergency conditions. This is serious, like big boy pants serious. Remember virus cases leveling out and the virus being under control are two separate things. It is not under control by a long shot.

There is a highly probable chance there will be no sports, being that the individual states governors get the say on when they open up for any size gatherings of people. It’s a constitutional states powers deal. One shut down is really bad, having to do it a second time because we Fuh Ked it up would take a decade to recover from. Fingers crossed that this all works it’s way out quickly ?

I think it’s important to remember that Beane took us from 6-10 to 10-6 in one offseason. He basically rebuilt the entire roster in one offseason. I have very little doubt that he is unprepared to handle all that is in front of this team for the next five years.

Point being: if we’re aware of these things, he is too. ?

Yup, and he as is said to often on this board, Beane is playing 3D chess, the guy has feelers out all the time, in places we may not have even thought to consider. I am quite confident in his ability to secure quality additions to the roster. But I still gonna run my mouth about what I want, damn it... ??

Like I said in my OP, I'd be fine with a DE that fits with any of the higher picks as long it's surrounded with O players.

If they can't find their DE they may have to wait until next year and hope their 1st can snag a good one.

I know it doesn't help this year but you can't always get what you want.

But if you try sometimes, ya just might find, ya get what ya need... ?

  4. Gotta agree with Colorado, ya just can’t leave scoring points to the defense, last season on D = ?, WR yac guy, kick azs RB, RT, etc etc.

Daboll’s goal should be 28 points every game average, a TD every quarter and more. Yup, I know that is at the high end of offenses in the league, but that is what we NEED to achieve. Jmo,

  5. Just read this morning  in some stock market news that the mayor of  Los Angeles said no large gatherings till 2021 is a likely outcome, lack of testing equipment,  It was a CNBC business article, from yesterday Iirc. Also read that there is no where near enough testing kits available nation wide to be able to start lifting the stay at home orders any time soon, New York Times article about a half hour ago...  christ we are way behind the right ball on this as a nation.

I sure hope I’m wrong, but from what I have read from all Fifty states governors there is a big probability that there will be no sports even without fans. There is still a severe lack of coordination of efforts on the federal level to streamline scientific and medical research development,  no vaccine in sight, still a lack of basic PPE, ventilators etc. We got a long row to hoe...

I read the actual full quote, and although it adds context, it can still be interpreted as Cousins saying he doesn’t care if the fans are in the stadium. He’s absolutely entitled to his opinion. Those of us who view that quote as sounding a bit arrogant/self-absorbed are also entitled to an opinion. Personally, I want to see people back out living their life everywhere, including attending football games. If Cousins is happy to not get booed, that’s cool too.

This is much ado about nothing,

I hate sounding all grumpy old man about random things players say, but Cousins did say “we don’t need all the smoke and fire”, which in my mind translates to game day with fans. He’s entitled to his opinion. It’s just ironic that he wouldn’t have a job without the “smoke and fire”. It sounds arrogant to me. He could have said something like “I just want to play, regardless of whether we can have fans”. That would have even upset some, but instead he talks about practice and OTA’s, and how you don’t need “fire and smoke to play the game”. Well, actually you do need the “fire and smoke” because without it, football wouldn’t exist.

    Much ado about nothing.

He’s allowed to have his opinion, I just don’t understand or agree with it. If I’m a football player, I want fans in the stands just to show the world has returned to some sense of normalcy. It’s a downer going to work everyday only to be reminded the world isn’t normal right now. Cousins probably just gets paid enough to make none of that matter to him. There’s a reason he doesn’t seem to be well received by teammates.

It ain’t that complicated, what he said was totally fine. Context, it’s way tricky...

Bobby Fisher, what a reference!  (never thought I would see him mentioned on a football message board)  He was a weird guy from what I have heard.  I agree.  Lets hope Diggs is everything we are hoping he will be and then some.  Dam it has been a LONG time since we had a big time WR.  Sammy never got there.  Stevie J was good, but not quite a top 5-10 guy.  Lee Evans was great on the go route, and not much else.  I am thinking it has been since Eric Moulds in his prime from 1998 and 2002.  That is a LONG TIME ago.

Yes it has been a long time, I think many would agree that with Stefon Diggs, Brown,Beasley, Knox and the whole offense will be more effective. Now defenses will have to choose their poison.

You could make the same argument for the NBA with college basketball, but even the NBA has a minor league. Unfortunately the NBA is not the behemoth the NFL is. I just personally think an NFL minor league woukd be successful

Versions of this concept have been tried repeatedly nfl Europe, XFL, and others like it, all have failed. Primarily because there is an endless flow of new players coming out of colleges all over America, the NFL system is positioned in such a fashion to take full advantage of this free resource.

The NFL has no reason to spend large money on a junior league, sure some fans would like it, but there is no real monetary need for such a league, again the NCAA supplies a virtually endless stream of new talent annually, the league see the few quality players that slip through the cracks as one of two things, 1) risk worth taking, or 2) an opportunity for diligent franchises to score a sleeper player who is actually good. It’s a neat idea, but I don’t think it’s got any real traction, jmo.

Baseball and hockey have a long history of regional clubs/teams, look at the Rochester Red Wings and the Rochester Americans,  those leagues are set up for those farm systems, the NBA was a bit of a late comer comparatively, in the NBAs case the college talent is by and large not as good coming out and the league needs to train players to get them up to par, and that is having marginal results from the little I have read.
so while a fine idea, there is no pressing need. Again jmo.

So what if he is a douche.  The guy is a great player.  Not everyone falls in line like little toy soldiers.  I have never heard his teammates bad mouth him.  If you had to catch passes from Eli Manning late in his career, you would probably be pretty cranky also.  And playing under Freddie Kitchens was probably like playing for that pee wee coach who had no idea how to coach and was half drunk at every game.  The Bills can use a little more edge and douchiness on their team.  Good old Richie Incognito provided some of that.  Jerry Hughes has some edge.  And some of that edge from Diggs will be good for the offense.  Let's not forget its football, not chess club.

Not expecting Bobby Fisher, but there is a difference between having an edge and being a douche nozzle. Although Bobby may very well have been said nozzle. We can only hope Diggs keeps his mouth shut and first and foremost performs as advertised. I expect you get my drift.

He's played in 1 playoff game in 2016.  He's also a bit of a drama queen.  Remember the whole watch thing?  Just take off your watch! its a football game!

    and...
I already acknowledged he has been a little B word. But ya can’t deny  Diggs has been the better receiver the last three years. So there is hope that he won’t become an irrelevant all pro douche that Beckham has been the last three years, frankly if OBJ doesn’t perform in Minnesota he will have become a has been, there is a lot on the line for OBJ, a little less for Diggs.

You’re being a biased Bills fan. He was having temper tantrums during wins about not getting the ball Enough .  He’s not on OBJ’s level but a team with SB aspirations don’t trade 26 year old good players for no reason.  He was a problem there.

    Just now, C.Biscuit97 said:

I mean Diggs did this to a less extent, no?

Yes he did, but,  Again if this trade goes thru, 3rd team in three years, it would then appear nobody likes having OBJ on their team, it’s an omen...  Beckham is an all pro douche, Diggs hasn’t yet competed on a that level. Not that Diggs might not aspire to such heights... we all hope not of course... ?
