  1. We should sign him to the vet minimum; we need the ESPN coverage.

Vet Minimum. How the hell do you expect Pacman to MAKE IT RAIN at the Vet Minimum.. Honestly... You people spend cap dollars like it has an impact on your personal credit score... It aint your money. It is Ralphs and he is never going to get close to spending to the cap so WHO CARES!! I WANT TO SEE IT RAIN!!! :-)

I really dont want to see Pacman in Buffalo. I just really wanted to scream about making it rain.

  2. I think if any of us had the chance to watch the game down at ground level and close to the action we would really see how hard these guys hit and what a violent game it is.

I think I was watching some educational type program where they equated the hit to driving your car into your garage door at 30 miles an hour or getting hit with a baseball bat with a phone book as protection. Something nuts like that.

  3. I was watching highlights of the 80's and 90's defensive players and forgot just how brutal the game was back then. When they hit the QB, they really hit him and they hit him with a ferocity that I haven't seen in a long time. LT, Kevin Green, Bruce, Reggie White, Derrick Thomas...it is a shame that players are so afraid of putting a big hit on the QB these days because they get fined for blowing on them...

Yep Pansy.... However, You do understand that 2 of the players you mentioned are now dead right? Also what you watched was a higlight film and not an every down thing...

  4. Scenario #1. AZ needs a LT BADLY, to replace Gandy. We have one and need an elite WR to complimant Evans' deep threat...som, trade Peters and swap 1st's with AZ for Bolden...spend the $$, Bolden fits perfectly with a check down offense as he can create yardage after the catch.

Scenario #2. Baltimore will be in need of a CB, as they won't be able to hold on to both, or either for that matter, of thiers. We need a dominant OLB...so, trade Mcgee and swap firsts with Baltimore for Suggs. (assuming we re-sign Greer.)

Scenario #3. Folllow 1 & 2 until you get to swapping 1st's w/baltimore, make both trade, but give baltimore McGee and our 3rd, then trade Lil' Roscoe and our 5th for someone's 3rd rd pick.

There is Genious in this post, I know it! On the contrary, if there is, it's too smart for the Bills' front office.

You are not allowed to use "there is Genious in this post" if you cant spell Genius..

  5. On Feb 28th the strike of midnight the Bills will have signed no one... By 12:30 Many posters will start calling for Brandon's head....

March 1st Noonish... Still with no one signed many members of the board will be livid by the fact that no one has signed.

Around 1pm. Annoucement of BIG Name Free Agent #1 coveted by many on this board will sign for 6 years 8 million per season... Poster who orginally thought Big Name Free Agent #1 would have agreed to come to Buffalo to play on the cheap. Something to the tune of 6 years 2 million per would have got it done.... Outrage and anger... Then posts stating that not spending that money on one player was a wise move by the Front Office. We need to protect our salary cap structure as if it somehow impacts our own personal credit rating...

Around 7pm still no one signed.. WTF posts begin to bog down the board.

Around 9pm another trade Jason Peters post arrives with the phrase "Now hear me out" leading the post off...

March 2nd..... First Ralph Wilson has made the HOF and now could care less thread makes an appearance on the board. Followed by posters asking for patience.

March 2nd around Noon.... Chris Kelsay has been cut by the Bills. Posts that state that Brandon and this Front Office finally get it arrive on the board.

March 3rd. Trade Donte Whitner and Jason Peters posts continue to flood TBD. All of which make perfect sense as the Buffalo Bills FO and scouting department has done such a fantastic job with existing 1st day picks. John McCargo, JP Losman, and James Hardy..... But trading proven players for the opportunity to draft the likes of these studs again makes sense somehow.

March 4th... First Bills signing announced. Little known LB terms of the deal is 5 years 24.5 million. 5 million a season... He must be an up and comer none of us have ever heard of but this crack front office team we have is on to something...

March 22nd Second Bills signing announced. DE backup signed. 4 years 17 million. Will be primarily a backup.

Draft Day- Bill reach and take Brandon Pettigrew with the 11. Passing on some stud DE and QB Sanchez. In the second round select Max Unger Center.

Fans declare the days work the final pieces to the Buffalo Bills 2009 Superbowl run.

2009 Season- Bills flirt with playoffs, lets us all down, finish 7-9, Jauron is let go and we rebuild again. Rinse and Repeat for next 5-10 years...

Sorry it is a slow Monday!!

  6. I agree with you for the most part Jay and especially about the real Problem not having a football guy in the front office. I guess my underlying point of the whole thread is......if you had a real "football guy" in the front office like we once had in Bill Polian, you wouldn't have to work so hard to market this team to the fans. The more effort at actually putting a good product on the field means less effort at having to try to sell this crap to the fans. You can try to polish a turd all you want, at the end of the day its still a turd. Its obvious that the Buffalo faithfull are more than loyal seeing that even though there hasn't been a great product on the field they've still showed up year after year. If we could actually produce a winner once in while, marketing this team would be an afterthought. It just seems like they have their priorities backwards.

So it wasnt the dumbest argument you ever heard in the end??? :-)

The reality is... This regime has very little interest in winning... They are after making money...

  7. Fair Enough! I agree with you but my point is we don't have to give guys pro-bowl money when in reality their below average football players. Are you telling me you can't attract a damn good offensive lineman to Buffalo with $49 million dollars? You should be getting a pro-bowler if you are going to spend that type of money.

Who was available that year that had an interest in Buffalo at the Oline position? The bills HAD to give the fans the illusion that we were fixing the line. Well in fans minds... Paying top dollar means the player must be good right. How many people on this board knew who Dockery was before the day we signed him. How many assumed he was Pro Bowl after seeing what we paid. But to give a player 49 million means he must be ALL PRO.. Nope.. But hey.. Jerry Sullivan thought we were finally paying attention the line.. The fans bought into the sell job and will continue to buy into it. The truth is the Bills had to spend x amount of dollars and what better way to do it than overspend to "fix the oline" It was all marketting along with the fact that the team had to spend that money... It is the same with draft picks.. Whitner picked 8th. Well your 8th.. It means you have to be great.. Sad part is that most fans here are so desperate for a winner that they buy into the con job every year. When the overpaid players dont work out.. We blame the player and resent them for making big money. Who are the Bills GM'ed by? A marketting guy... Not a football guy. HENCE THE PROBLEM!!

  8. So what? Dockery was a free agent, he came here because he got paid, as would most. Just because you have spend a certain amount of money doesn't mean you have to spend it like a dumbass. Thats one of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard.

You think people are just dying to come to Buffalo to play for a team that has not made the playoff in 9 years. At least Arizona was warm. Call it dumb but WE HAVE TO OVERPAY people.

  9. Look I don't mean to post another doom and gloom type post nor am I one of these guys who thinks we shoiuld sign every "name" FA who has a good Madden rating but I got to get some sh*t off my chest about this joke of an NFL Franchise that I've called my favorite team in sports for the last 20 years since I was 5 years old.

The thing that is so damn frustrating about this organization is that we have so much damn money tied up in guys like Dockery and Kelsay who are average at best.......those are two major f-ck ups for a small market team. We might be under the cap but that doesn't mean RW is going to get out the old check book, if you're a small market team like the Bills its no secrect you have to spend your money wisely. The Kelsay and Dockery contracts are the exact oposite of this; if you can't spend money like the Cowboys...fine, but at least make the damn money you do spend count by using it to bring in above average coaches and players. I mean if you can only afford a few big contracts on the books you better make them count. I hate to be one of those guys who says "I could run this team better" but I'm actually starting to think it might be true. I mean there are so many things that are starting to piss me off about this organization.....The Jauron situation, C. Kelsay, Derrick Dockery, the o-line blocking scheme, the entire defensive scheme, the lack of a TE over the last decade (I mean who hasn't been able to see that we've been desperately needing a capable receiving TE for this damn long). Hell it took 5 years for them to realize we could use a damn WR over 5'11 in the red-zone. Remember the offseason when we started out by signing Peerless Price and Robert Royal....are you f-ing kidding me! JP Losman, D. Whitner (who I like but he wasn't the sure-fire can't miss prospect like Nagta) John McCargo! I can go on and on! Say what you want about Donahoe but at least he seemed to have a little bit of a clue (can't believe I just said that). I think the only move I actually agreed with from the current FO was the Stroud trade. F*CK!

Sorry I know that was a jumbled mess of bitching but I do feel a lot better now. It seems like we just did it but its almost like scrapped and we need to go back to the drawing board again. I just don't know if the Bills can afford to do so.

This is what makes me laugh... Want to know why the Bills give huge contracts to Kelsay, Dockery, etc.. Because just like their is a salary cap in the NFL... The owners have a minimum number they have to be at. So.. Cheap Ralph HAS to pay some of these guys to comply with the rule.. Get mad at how we spend the money but if you were a free agent where would your destination of choice be? Probably not Buffalo. So Ralph has to overpay current Bills.

    http://www.docsports.com/current/nfl-salar...-rules-031.html

"There is also a salary floor - a minimum amount that teams must spend. That currently is at $98.8 million, which is 85.2 percent of the cap. That floor will be increased by 1.2 percent each year until it reaches 90 percent in 2012."

  10. I thought Ralph would eventually give up control of the team and hire a top GM.

That is my biggest mistake with the Bills.

My second biggest mistake was in the 1972 draft when Buffalo had the #1 overall selection in the draft ( I liked the guy)

    http://www.super70s.com/Super70s/Sports/NFL/1972/Draft.asp

My biggest Personal mistake was at the beach

    Joining this board!! :-)

  11. Wow..

Simply asked if you all thought Donte was getting an extension this week.

With all the Hatred for Whitner, Peters, Kelsay, Denney, Schobel, Walker, Dockery, Bills player to be whipping boy next week. Why is this board so surprised/disappointed to see the Bills lose week after week. Obviously the Bills have the wrong players, wrong coach, wrong owner.... Better question... Why do some of you still cheer for the Bills? Is it a desire to be unhappy?

  12. Any chance of the Bills redoing his deal right now.

Originally signed a 5 year deal and will be in years 4 next season?

I am on facebook and his last two posts were.

    "Going to Buffalo"

    and

    "is feeling wanted"

I know.. I am speculating about a post on facebook. Any reason he would be in Buffalo other than contract discussions?

Anyways... Thoughts? Other than I am an idiot.

  13. I remember it well: This trade was set prior to the draft- The Bill, or rather Donahoe, actually had a deal w/ Jax to jump one spot ahead of Pitts to grab Big Ben, whom TD knew the Steelers wanted. Part of it was that we needed a QB, but a big part too was that TD wanted to screw Pitts. Well, Jax thought that Reggie Williams w/b gone by their pick, but he wasn't, so they backed out of deal, which TD thought was set in stone. So Big Ben went to Pitts, but was damn close to coming here. Ah, serendipity....

What were the Bills going to part with?

  14. If we address our backup QB via FA and draft a stud DE (Orapko, Brown, etc) at #11, where do we address our needs at C and TE. I think everyone, maybe even DJ, would agree Royal and Preston will not be starting next season. Preston i like as a back up for his versatility and Royal might want to look into arena football, oh wait there cancelled, maybe he can go to the United Indoor football league and play for Freddie's old team!!

As for TE it looks like there are Coffman, Pettigrew, and Beckum as the best candidates and at least 1 or 2 would be available in rd 2. At C the top 3 are Mack, Unger, and Luigs, possible all 3 could be there in rd 2.

In FA at TE, the only decent TE is Owen Daniels who i'd love to get here but he;s and RFA which might be tricky i don't know what we'd have to give up. At C there is Matt Birk, Jason Brown, Jeff Satruday, and Brad Meester; Brown is the only one under 30 and i heard he's going to resign.

So what is the answer? If I had my choice I'd sign Matt Birk to a 2 year deal and do whatever it takes to trade for Danielsor Winslow, though i would not give up a #1.

Any thoughts? Also is there any precedent on whether a rookie TE or rookie C would be more apt to succeed right away?

I think we can get the TE and C we want by trading with Detroit. They need a QB and a top OT. They move to 11 for the 20 from Dallas and the 33 that they own. We then trade back into the first round to pick in the early 20's giving us two picks in the first round. We can get Mack and the TE of our choice.

  15. He had one long carry. The huge run. What was Parker that year, a rookie? So, Willie Parker carved up Pat Williams, Sam Adams, Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Nate Clements, Antoine Winfield (Was he still here then?), Aaron Schobel and the rest of the Bills?

So, that's acceptable? James Harrison also played on that team. He was being bounced back and forth between linebacker and DE at the time. Tommy Maddox was the QB and even TRIED his hardest to give us the game by throwing the pick to Clements for a TD. Hell, if I'm not mistaken, didn't Antwaan Randel El have a career game at wideout that day against us? I guess now someone wants to tell me he was good too. Not to mention that if Randel El was in there, who in the hell the other buttplugger was on the opposite side of him.

Gimmie a break. Hell, Parker isn't even that good today as he was in that game. We were at home. We had to win to get in. The Jets were losing the whole time we were playing. And the Steelers had their starters on the BENCH.

    PATHETIC.

"Tried his hardest to give us the game". Hilarious!! I think I read Tommy Maddox book and in chapter 7 it was the buffalo game where he admits he tried to help the Bills win that day..... "who the hell was the other buttplugger" WOW... Really?? And those SUCKY Steelers found a way to kick our butts. So we were good enough to make the playoffs why? Acceptable or not it is reality. What exactly was your point? Was it that Willie Parker and James Harrison were better than our first stringers? Cause that is what I wrote..

  16. by the Steelers 9th stringers?

In that magical week before week 17, about 70% of the board had cowbell. They even took the idea, and WGR had cowbell.

    Man, we suck.

    9th stringers.....

Ok. This is a real peave of mine... The "9th string" starting RB for the Steelers that day was who?

Willie Parker. The same Willie Parker that is starting for the Steelers in the AFC Championship game. It is not like the guy that ran all over us for the steelers that day sucked...

  17.

As a huge Indy fan I cant disagree. Every year the team dominates the regular season and then lays an egg in the post season. The San Diego game Colts offense scores 17 points. The Colts need to score 28. When you spend all your money on one side of the ball it HAS to produce.

If you look at the 1 Superbowl run what did Peyton and crew do? Not much. That was a championship run won by Bob Sanders and the Colts defense. Peyton and crew finally showed up in the second half of the Pats game.

    Wild-Card playoffs: Indianapolis 23(Win), Kansas City 8

Divisional playoffs: Indianapolis 15(Win), Baltimore 6

Look at the scores. A little surprising.... The Superbowl against the Bears was the perfect set up for the Colts. Playing a team with a terrible offense with Sexy Rexy at the helm. Alot of teams would have won that one.

  18. Why, yes, they did.

Well, let's see...hmmm....the Bills didn't give him any more $$$, while FatBoy eventually had to eat humble pie and show up, so I guess it worked out OK for the Bills, no?

So he can hold out 'til he eventually has to cave or earn zilch, then get franchised - yeah, yer right, FatBoy's got lots of leverage!

yeah.. leveraged him and the team to a brilliant 7-9 season. worked out wonderfully. oh wait.

  19. He wasn't saying that the Bills should cut Peters, at least I don't think he was...

I think the point was that if you want to know how valuable a player teams around the league consider Peters to be, contemlate this scenario: the Bills cut him...there'd be 25 teams lined up to pay him top dollar as a LT.

    And it's a valid point.

    Right.

If you do trade him you will never get fair value.

Peters is comparable.. Better IMO than Joe Thomas and Jake Long... Drafted 1st overall and 3rd overall in the last two drafts. We drafted Fat Mike Williams 4th and paid him a ton of money. Pay the man. That is what I am saying.. Pay the man what he is worth and be done with it. I just dont get the trade posts. This board would have traded thurman for a mid 1st round pick in his prime...

  20. Well that's just stupid - obviously he won't be cut with 2 years left on his current contract. Not even Jauron would do that. The Bills hold all the leverage, so he'll either be traded, get a better deal, or go though another bitter holdout. Those are the options.

The Bills do not hold all the leverage. Did the Bills hold the leverage in training camp? How did the Jason Peters hold out work out for the Bills this last year? He can do it again next year and the final year of his contract. Then he can walk or wait and be franchised.
