  1. Could be because the FA pool is loaded with overpriced veterans that they do not feel is a good fit for what they are trying to achieve. I always marvel at folks that act like rabid women shoppers on black Friday. My wife comes home with 50 things we don't need because they were on sale, I feel the same way about the FA rush each year.

    Someone gets it. Thank you.

Just to add, I am sure they targeted some players, and have gauged interest. Now they wait.

  2. Marrone was clearly a name that was getting attention...When I first heard the Bills were going to interview him I was thinking..."What?" Then I read up more about him, saw the obvious interest he was getting everywhere, and realized there has to be something to the guy...Plus...I'm not saying he's the next Sean Payton whatsoever...But he's from that tree...And I for one LOVE Sean Payton...He's one of my favorite NFL HC's...I just think the guy is outstanding, detailed, etc...

So anyway, the thought of Marrone being a legit candidate should not be surprising to any Bills fan IMHO... B-)

I did the same thing and came away positive. A real head coach, organized, detailed, and expects the same from his staff and players. This will be a guy that will be associated with the Bills, and the culture change. Looking forward to the Doug and Doug show for many years.

  3. The coaching's been so bad that I can't begin to evaluate any of these drafts. How can anyone say whether we have talent or not? Look at the standings. If these players turn out to be the same quality of the Nix coaches, we're really in trouble!

Did anyone notice how hard NIx's boy "Lights Out' played yesterday? Oh I see. His contract is up, option year warrior! and Nix spent a ton of money on him. couldn't afford playmaker like super bowl winner Jabari Greer though. Even Drayton Florence could have helped our young DBs, oh couldn't afford him either.

    Very true.

Quite inaccurate. Merriman was not signed for a lot of money, and even less so when he was re-signed at the middle of the season. Drayton Florence WAS re-signed and then was cut. Greer left mid-2009, Nix was hired last day of 2009.

  4. I read the whole thread with a bad migraine so I might have missed it...but maybe since Gruden does those shows pre-draft on college QBs, he wanted to get his thoughts? Get to know the man and take it from there? Pick his brain?

I know Brandon takes a lot of crap, and deservedly so, but he is a Bills fan too. He is smart enough to know a winning product makes money, I am sure he doesn't want to have the need to rebuild the marketing aspect every three years either.

I am hoping for better days ahead.

  5. For some Bills fans rooting for the Bills and being optimistic is not an optional alternative. I am a Bills Fan. I have been so since 1960 when my World War II vet dad let me know how the original All America Football Conference screwed the Bills (the 2nd most successful franchise in the league) and accepted the Browns, the 49'ers and the Colts into the NFL and dropped the Bills. I have been a die hard ever since. I will be an optimist every year. I will find the silver lining in every cloud. I will hope that this year is the year that it all comes together. I am convinced that this year that Merriman, Williams and Dareus will turn this season around. I was convinced that Monte Ledbetter would turn the season around in the late 60's. For those of you that want to lament that we have not made the playoff for ten years and that the franchise will not turn around until the owner dies, the management changes or karma blesses us, you are missing out on the wonderful feeling of optimism that begins every season. Am I fooling myself? Maybe. But the great thing is I wont know until we see how it plays out and until then I am an optimist. I am one of the crazies that spends a large portion of my disposable income on Bills tickets. Guess what, it is people like me that have kept the Bills in Buffalo. So, forgive me for hoping for the best. Sorry for not doing the woe is me routine. If us optimists leave, the Bills are the Los Angeles Clippers.

    Amen.
