  1. Brandon Burton and Johnny Adams will see time Sunday as per Doug M. earlier this week. Unfortunately, it took a week or two for them to get up to speed. Leonhard has been around, so he was plugged right in. I don't think we are privy to every player brought in for a workout, so personally I am confident Doug W. is making sound decisions for today and the future. Hopkins injury didn't help much either.

    Just my thoughts.

  2. I don't even think Rogers was the worst player in this game, much less worst all time. Sure the stats look bad and shocking, but he was playing the toughest role on the field. He was obviously going to be focused on and all passes were going to be coming at him. Personally, I was expecting a much worse result after McKelvin went down. Rogers wasn't too far off from Holmes on the TD. Anything less than a perfect throw and he would have broken it up. Now, the QB and WR play for the Bills, on the other hand, should have been better. That was the worst Bills passing game I've seen since Trent @ Cleveland 10-11-09.

These are my thoughts too, plus on the first touchdown I thought he was interfered with just enough to mess up his closing stride. Again, as was pointed out numerous times, he is the 4th CB, he was in a tough position.

  3. I see it like this: Nix was asked to come in and help restore the Bills to respectability, help turn around a putrid roster - and, despite missing on the coach, he did upgrade the roster - which we'll see evidence of this year. Now, when he got here he knew he was only going to be doing this for a few years, so he looked around the NFL landscape and saw a couple capable young men who would be in demand as a good GM option, and instead of risking letting them get scooped up by another team in the interem, he went ahead and brought Doug in as the GM in waiting, allowing him to get accustomed to the area, to the roster, and after this past offseason, Doug certainly had a hand in hiring Marrone and Co.

It was a very wise decision by Nix - and now the Bills have one of the youngest teams in the NFL, both roster-wise, and front office-wise. We have a salary cap that is managable, too. This team went from old, ill run, with a poor roster and no prospects, and in three years has evolved into one of the youngest teams with a ton of potential. Nix did great in that regard. We are a complete 180 from then to now.

    Well said!

  4. The Bills targeted their guy, traded down and got an extra second and a seventh, and still managed to pick him up. Nice job Buddy.

    Perfect.

Let me add, working on his Masters, 23 years old, respectful, and a well spoken young man. Huge ceiling, and he has 5 months plus the extra OTAs because of a new staff. This kid is going to surprise people, and quick.

Get him a few tools, TE and WR and let them all grow together.

  5.

Reaching on them would be a waste of resources, plain and simple. And I'm tired of hearing "If they like him then take him" -- so are you saying that you trust the instincts of the same front office that paid Ryan Fitzpatrick like a franchise quarterback? Please.

Sorry, that is incorrect. At the time it made him the 19th highest paid QB, hardly franchise numbers.

  6. What's the franchise tag number for a C? Although Wood strikes me as the kind of guy who would take a hometown discount if he thinks things are headed in the right direction.

I believe they don't differentiate for each position, just use a general OL figure.

    $9,828,000 and $8,709,000

  7. i think this is a move that makes me think the bills are planning on getting a qb next year. kolb is made out of glass. why would he be considered a viable starter?

I just Googled his college scouting reports, one word that kept coming up is durable. Seven years ago, the reports sounded pretty decent, after all, he was a second rounder.

  8. The Bills like to over pay. Look at the McKelvin deal that will come back to haunt the team. the dude is making 5 mil a year. They did the same with Kelsey and G. Wilson. Unfortunialty the team will be paying Wilson this year along with Fitzmoney. If they do a deal cheap I say do it, they also need another WR cheap. Lyold, DHB someone to take the pressure off Johnson. Most teams could double triple coverage Johnson last year because everyone else was so crappy.

Jeez, don't let facts get in your way...http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2013/3/13/4098106/leodis-mckelvin-contract-details-4-years-17-million

And again, as it has been said over and over and over again, the deals with Kelsay and Wilson have never put the Bills in a bad spot money-wise.
