Elam seemed to be a legit 1st rounder. He played for a couple of years for the Gators and played well.
His dad and uncle played in the NFL so he had that pedigree.
He's played well on occasion and seems to be a fit for a zone D.
What is the problem? He's a bit young. Is he resistant to coaching? Is he a head case?
Those who blame coaching may be right but I find it hard to believe you would tank a 1st rounder over coaching problems especially when the staff has been so successful in developing cbs.

iMO, it comes back to coaching. Ken has got to do a better job helping Josh out not just with play calling, but what to look for out on the field.
In theory you are correct but consider that the OC devises his gameplan based on what the opponent has shown previously. There is only limited time to prepare & coach the gameplan each week. You can't prepare for everything.
When the opp is doing something you don't expect its very difficult to adjust during the game. Even halftime adjustments are difficult (P Manning says it is an illusion that you can do halftime adjustments).
During the K-Gun years, Kent Hull the center made the line protection calls. Maybe something like this would help Josh by taking that aspect of the game off his plate.

Two points:
1. You can't just decide to go up tempo for the whole game unless you game planned it and your O players are conditioned to do it. If you try quickly to sub in personnel packages the D gets to sub also.
2. When you go uptempo the D tends to play a base D because it cannot sub in personnel. That probably simplifies Josh's reads.

My guess on EPA stats. Its these long drives that boost EPA
What is EPA? I'm guessing that its not the Environmental Protection Agency.

The K-Gun O line was orders of magnitude better than the Josh-Gun O line.

The D is playing with one hand behind its back because of injuries.
Belichick was bound to find holes all over. What you saw today was Jones carve up a D riddled with second string players.
The O performance was far more concerning particularly given that the Pats two top pass rushers did not play.
As for those calling for Dorsey's head (and the rest of this sentence is not a defense of Dorsey) how many of you can tell on most plays whether it was the scheme or the execution that failed? I certainly cannot without the tome to study the all-22 view.

We all know fans who believe McD should be fired if we don't get to the Super Bowl when we have Josh Allen as our QB.
But Josh has given us some clunkers. There are games when he bails out of the pocket when he doesn't need to, makes bad decisions with the ball, and delivers errant throws.
But are Josh's subpar games truly his fault?
I agree with much of this post BUT Josh does not walk on water.
There are times when he doesn't see open receivers or bails out too soon (though he's been better lately at staying put).
Perhaps its because the opponent's D is good at disguising coverages or because it doe not present the same Ds that Josh has been schooled to expect earlier that week. I hope after that Jet's clunker Josh spends more time studying defenses.
One thing is sure, a successful O is not everyone runs around, then Josh scrambles and make a superhuman throw to Diggs for the crucial score.
I'm not Josh-bashing. I think he's special but there is room for improvement. Things happen pretty fast in the an NFL game so its easy to miss-fire if you are facing the unexpected.
or as Ferris Bueller put it, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

I have a solution: go to two hand touch or flag football. That will cut down on injuries.

Josh was given the most amount of time on pass protection in this game (approximately 3.10 seconds) according to Joe Marino. Josh had a bad game, it happens
Interesting. When I watched the game it seemed to me that Josh was under pressure a good bit of the time. Several times (in the 2d half I think) there were free rushers up the middle.

That's every pass from the first half of the game. Guys were definitely getting open. There's definitely a lot being schemed for Diggs, but there's also a fair amount being schemed for other guys as well. Allen finds Diggs immediately whenever anything breaks down which is understandable. Also rushed some stuff which is understandable given the consistent pressure he saw. As a side note Dorsey's play calling was impressive. Every route concept outside of the Flood vs Cover 1 was had an answer to take advantage of the coverage they saw from the defense.
Excellent analysis of the first half passing offense. It looks like the problem is more with execution than play design. The OL does not give Josh enough time

You trust your great kicker.
This and presumably you rely on how Bass was doing in pre-game practice kicks.

Some internet doctors think Josh got an AC joint sprain on the play last night
I think he has a right shoulder injury. On the sack he lands on his right shoulder and grabs it. When he gets up he's favoring that shoulder.

I think that we have two chances of winning the Superbowl this year: slim and none.
How the team and Josh and Stephon in particular respond to this will tell alot about their intestinal fortitude.
On the one hand, they are bound to be discouraged but on the other hand they are professionals and presumably have ways of mentally dealing with adversity.
The key will be how they and the team respond when they are several scores down in a game: do they roll over and play dead or do they fight back?
So far the team's intestinal fortitude is a question mark in my mind. Here I'm thinking back to the team's collapse at the end of last season.
For Srephon and Josh there may be a silver lining to the clound here: the pressure will be off to win it all. Now it's just a "go out and so your best season."
My 2 cents

It's a disturbing fact that McBeane would rather bring in aging veterans that they are familiar with then try to find the best player available
You need a guy who can play right quick so I think it's a good idea to sign a guy who is already familiar with your defsnsive system.
Now whether or not Norman still has the physical skills to play, that's another question.
What has he been doing since 2022? Sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating chips?

The spacing point is a bit concerning. I wonder if that is a product of Dorsey’s design or guys just not understanding where they are supposed to be?
Agreed. If by design Dorsey must have a reason. Could it be to give Josh some quick reads?

Yep. I bet Lawrence noticed it and knew he had a one-on-one advantage.
Those who live by the blitz die by the blitz if the unblocked rusher doesn't get home in time.

I do not necessarily disagree that the Bills were at a disadvantage but how to account for the fact that our D played much much better than our O? Would not they both be jet lagged? Playing devil's advocate here.

This was a good but not great win.
The D played very well but I'm unsure how good the Bucs' O is.
The O played well in the first half and the opening drive of the 2d half. They played with passion.
But after the score they didn't do much after that. They could hev put the game away but did not.
Yet a win's a win. On to the next game.
