Right off the bat, let's all agree, Brandon Beane is a brilliant fella.  He never intended to acquire a quitter, headcase, me first WR like AB.  Here's how it went down:

    1) The Steelers knew we are in need of a WR. They set a deadline for teams to make offers by Friday.

    2) Beane calls Steelers on Tuesday to ask "What are you looking for as compensation for the "highly respected" AB. The Steelers make some outrageous demand (ex. a 1st rounder this year and second rounder next year)

    3) Beane says "Hmmm, that sounds pretty reasonable. Let me check with my owner and coach, etc"  Beane hangs up the phone and laughs "This will be fun"

    4) Steelers start talking to other teams but keep Beane in mind. They call Beane back "Have you thought any more about it?"  Beane "Yeah, sure...how about first this year and a fourth next  year?"  Steelers "How about a first and third this year?"  Beane "Let me call you back."  He starts laughing again. No intention of signing AB whatsoever, but knows other teams are now being waved away by Steelers because they are about to get a sweet deal from Bills.

    5) As the other teams walk away from negotiating, the Steelers start to get nervous...they give info to LaConjecture and RapReport.

    6) Beane is busy eating a cob salad when the phone rings. Steelers: "Are we doing this?"  Beane: "Who is this?"

    7) Beane issues statement about what a great player AB is and, unfortunately, they were unable to get a deal done.

Steelers are now left in a bad negotiating position because they spurned several other suitors. AB's price went down all thanks to Brandon Beane and the greatest "catfish" technique we will ever see.

I feel like beane swung but knew it would be hard/ near impossible to pull off for a reasonable amount of money etc and just threw a deal out there just in case it worked out all the while knowing it probably wouldn't but hey I like that he threw an offer out there and it got the bills crazy attention right before free agency opens so you know we are going to get harassed by many agents because they know we are willing to make big moves and they know we have the money....all in all I just want them to get 2 more above average starters for theboline in free agency and draft a blue chip tackle or guard...to me with all the good wrs in this draft it isn't worth breaking the bank for anything other than o lineman

    Riley Ridley.

Seems like this guy will be very good in the NFL. appears his route running is very good, hands are great and just gets the WR position!

I am not sure where he is expected to go in the draft or if he has off the field problems but I would love to see Buffalo come away from the draft with this kid on the team.

N'Keal Harry would be my 2nd choice.

I'd take nkeal harry all day over ridley....ridley tested very poorly at the combine.....

  3. I admit this kid looks great in every way... he's was walker as far as I'm concerned.....but this kid isn't the type for josh allen....we need a big bodied guy that is also a burner with great hands and jump ball red zone ability ......

Hakeem butler is my favorite wr this draft followed closely by nkeal Harry and Hollywood brown

i would take this guy over any other WR in this class, hands down...and if we don’t, watch NE take him and turn him into a HOFer.

i hear all this talk about Metcalf, a guy who never really produced in college and is coming off a serious injury.  Isabella, however, is faster  downfield (4.31 40) and quicker in short areas (6.95 3 cone), has the flexibility to elude tacklers, and the hands to make every pass all but a guarantee.  And for those that don’t think his size will allow him to hold up in the NFL? All you have to do is go no further than the recent super bowl mvp to know if a guy that size can hold up...because it’s not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, but the size of the fight in the dog. This guy screams “process” and team player through and through and simply cannot be contained on a football field.  Aren’t you tired of watching the Pats kill the league, year after year with this type of receiver? Didn’t you ever wish it was the Bills who had that ability?

Well, if there is one guy I want to draft more than any other player it’s Andy Isabella...Go Bills!

Boom here's the best wr this draft

    Give this a watch folks

Or here's my second choice right here I wouldn't be sad at all with this guy but I like butler more he's got moves and better wheels

Or here's my wild card for a player that would mesh well in this offense with Allen's arm bit he's not big bodied but I'd still take him over isabella

He has deceptive speed. He runs good routes but ASU didn’t run the full tree so he’ll need to learn the entire tree. He’s A big body WR that will win the contested catches. He attacks the ball.

ASU had some serious issues, they struggled to get the ball to him later in the season. There are a lot of balls that skipped to him and they tried to be a power run team later in the year.

To answer youe question, yes his QB wasn’t very good.

Harry is a beast and if you look look on Twitter there are many, like me, that think he’s an early first round talent. He matched 27 reps on the bench and I think has a 4.40 40 time. He can contribute as a returner as well as WR. His ability to create YAC is incredible and he has very strong hands.

My points exactly also check out hakeem butler hes 6 foot 6 with wheels and moves after the catch and crazy ups he looks like the best big bodied target In the draft....i wish the mods would let me start a post (been on bbmb before for like 20 years and have been reading on here since bbmb closed)

He reminds me of a bigger Anquan Bolden and the agility of a DeVante Parker. He’s projected to be anywheres from a late 1st rd pick and as deep as a 3rd rder. Personally I can’t imagine him going past the first 40 picks and really sooner than that. I would love to see him be a Bill, pairing up with Robert Foster. I’m not so sure about Zay, I’m really not a big advocate for him but I’ll be the first to admit that I could be wrong about Jones. Check out Harry’s highlights, he’s pretty impressive.

Imho this is the best wr in the draft...best combo of size and speed and moves after the catch  and amazing hands...and he's a killer punt and kickoff return man too...or I like hakeem butler possibly more too....i like Metcalf but not when butler and Harry are available for cheap and I think theyre just as good if not better

I could be wrong, but this is just what I believe based on the additions I expect Beane to make in the WR room.  I have no issues if others don't agree, just my opinion on the matter, nothing more.

I have consistently said this all off season, and McDermott just said something again that enforces that belief.  I think they see how the Rams cleared out their WR room and so did the Bears and in both cases their young QB's took big strides as passers.  Eagles did the same for Wentz too.

"We're looking for guys that can get open and catch the ball."  Yes, that is an obvious trait for any WR, but also its telling that he and Beane keep making these comments given the struggles all year, including Zay, to do these very basic things.

I think the WR room will be crowded once free agency and the draft is over (likely 2 to 3 additions) and Zay is going to be someone who has to really impress in camp to make this roster.   Right now, there is not one part of being a wide receiver that Zay does particularly well outside of his reported good work ethic.

    1. Hands:  Struggles catching the ball.  Makes easy catches look hard and drops too many passes.
    2. Separation:  Has struggled to get separation, especially playing on the outside.
    3. Route Running:  Part of his issue with getting separation is his inconsistent route running.
    4. Speed:  He has average speed.  He is fast enough to play in the league, but to be consistent with his speed he needs to be a good route runner.
    5. Physicality:  He is easily man handled by physical corners.  Games like the Lions and Pats this year he was dominated physically for example.
    6. Contested Catches:  One of the weakest part of his game.
    7. Catch Radius:  Very limited mostly due to his inconsistent hands and lack of physicality.

Foster:  Penciled in as a projected #2 WR.  However, if we bring in a potential starter in FA and also draft one early, then Foster is no lock for #2 and could be used more out of the slot or as a deep threat.  Additionally, if we draft say Metcalf or make a splashy trade for someone like Brown (less likely), then Duke could make a real challenge for #2 as a big catch radius compliment to a #1 who poses a real deep threat opposite him.

Duke:  He has to prove himself in the NFL, I get that.  But if we take an honest assessment of him, his issues were never talent related.  He isn't a speed burner, but he has a big catch radius, runs good routes, and has great hands.  He could legit compete for the #2 opposite a big play #1.  Even if not a #2, its more than reasonable he has a legit shot to make this team and compete for minutes.

Zay:  Best suited for the slot, however his lack of consistent hands and his issues with separation make his spot there vulnerable.  If our top 2 WR's this next season dont include Foster, then I can easily see Foster challenging to play in the slot, and he already has surpassed Zay.

We are adding at least 2 additonal WR's (and maybe 3) this offseason expected to start or compete to start to go along with the 3 guys already here.  With McD and Beanes consistent comments about getting open and catching the ball, I think Zay is in trouble and will be a training camp or preseason trade for a 4th round or conditional 5th round pick.

I completely disagree for many reasons

First he and josh allen have serious chemistry and that doesn't happen overnight....zay was our most complete best receiver on the roster last season and has a perfect number 2....also he had 2 multi td games as well...i think he'll become even better coming into year 3 and id expect a 7 to 9 td season coming up this year.......

I want Hakeem Butler over all other WRs in the draft. He is going to be a stud in the NFL. Reminds me of a bigger more athletic AJ Green.

Exactly I've watched all their highlights over and over....first dk Metcalf I came away impressed but noticed he takes too long to get into a full stride and has limited moves after the catch....

Then I watched nkeal Harry and I was blown away with his athleticism and hands and speed at 6 foot 4 he's probably the safest bet in this draft at wr imo....

Then I watched the other top dogs Harmon and Hollywood brown and really felt that butler has the best traits of dk and the athletic moves of nkeal and a much greater catch radius than either....this kid is mega tron take him at 9 and be called a fool and watch this kid be josh Allen's best friend this year making all kinds of crazy circus catches and catching all kinds of bombs from him...we already have our speed guy in foster to stretch the field and command the double team....zay Jones is the dependable number 2 tough third down clutch work the middle kind of talent....and then we would have our true number 1 who has the deep speed the size and the ability to make teams double him and make 1 on 1 opportunities for our other side receivers and take pressure off the run game.....draft a tackle and a center after in rounds 2 and 3....sign Jessie james....sign another marquee offensive lineman in fa and boom the team is solid and will really be a totally different animal....with the defense we have if we had a half way decent offense we would've crushed some teams this year
