How many chances will McDermott get?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall
One more. He is not going anywhere this year. And sadly it would probably take missing the playoffs next season to move on from him. Personally I,would be fine with a different leader now. But it won't happen. Anything less than a SB appearance next year is a failure. -
Bills players were done with this year
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Billzgobowlin's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its not pessimism. Its realism. Two years in a row fail to make the AFC Championship. What was the, story? Just get home field and it will be ok. They just got destroyed at home. Yes they had injuries. Did Cincinnati not have injuries? Did KC not trade away their best WR? The reality is we are further from a Championship today than we were two years ago. That is an indictment on McDermott and Beane. -
I’m over this defensive scheme. Bring in a new DC.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Many on here simply won't admit the defense has been a fraud all along. They have built up great stats playing atrocious QBs. When they face any team that has a decent oline they get pushed around. The defense has had epic collapses dating back to the first year McD was here giving up 200 yards rushing to the Saints. There have been many other games. The reality is the defense is soft. They play undersized DEs and DTs with the thought they will generate a pass rush with four and the scheme fits will stop the run. But it just isn't working. The defense relies on the opponent making a mistake or getting a penalty. That works against the bad teams and the bad QBs. It won't and hasn't worked against the good QBs. The general scheme is really no different than others play. We just don't have the DL to pull it off. Beane needs to be a man and admit his mistakes. He needs to cut Epenesa and Basham and sign some decent vets to pair with Miller and Rousseau. The draft capital must go to the offense. -
So what is the first coach or domino to fall?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently except the Bills who have McDermott who is the white Dick Jauron. -
This team has too many holes in key spots but plenty of depth on the bottom of the roster. Trade down in the first round and get an extra 2nd and 3rd day picks. Get 3 OL and WR by the end of the fourth round. The rest of the draft picks won't even make the roster.

This will sound awful but it is a business. Hopefully these last two weeks will drive down the market for his services and we can get him back on a decent 2 or 3 year deal. He was playing hurt. Safeties are just not that valued by most teams especially old ones. Best case scenario he is back in Buffalo on a reasonable contract. More likely he is gone.

McBeane's investment in the D Line last five seasons

Diggs vs. Josh: Sideline Disagreement?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
Diggs is about winning not just stats. Its ok. He showed more heart than anyone on the defense did. Maybe that's what this team needs. -
Franchise in trouble- Josh Allen has regressed
Ethan in Cleveland replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not entirely true. He was careless with the football all year. Led the league in red zone turnovers. But the oline got worse as the season went along and Josh only got worse -
Dungy 2.0 of course refers to his inability to win a SB with Tampa and the fact Gruden won the SB first year with the same players. Dungy failed for several years with Manning too. It took Manning refusing to leave the field on 4th down when Dungy was going to punt to finally make the SB, where they beat one of the worst SB teams in NFL history.

His offense put a short mediocre armed QB into the HOF and won a SuperBowl. McD can't even get out of the division round. He's available. It won't happen but it would be an upgrade.
-
I've been banned before for being contrary and to the herd mentality. I can take it.

He almost won two SuperBowls with Colin Kapernick. He was one holding call away from winning the trophy. He's done far more than McD has ever done.

Tough Decisions Ahead for Beane!!!
Ethan in Cleveland replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not by Beane. That is what most people think. It would take Pegula himself to do it. -
We are stuck and there is no way out. Pegula is not going to get rid of Beane and McDermott. McDermott has done too much for the franchise and the city to be canned. So we will waste another year on Dungy 2.0 only to come up short again. We are now on three years wasted of the best QB play this team has ever had. And nothing to show for it. Next year will be four and the cap situation will only keep getting worse. This team needed a teacher and a father figure. Now they need a mercenary assassin. Give Josh Sean Payton or Jim Harbaugh and Bills win the SuperBowl next year. Its not going to happen so we had just be prepared for another year of this crap. When McDermott says we will learn and grow from this I hope some reporter has the balls to say when do you stop learning and winning instead?
