Can most agree that the loud and persistent angst we're seeing from the WR-Train fan contingent (who I am largely aligned with) is specifically due to a lack of elite boundary targets? If we look at the current group objectively, there are clearly talented and ascending guys (Kincaid, Samuel, Shakir, even Coleman), but the top half of the group all seem (according to popular sentiment) best suited to moving around and lining up inside most of the time.

The desire for an elite boundary alpha receiver is not new, but it's also not backed up by historical results. Aside from like Jerry Rice (who wasn't strictly an X by any means) and Michael Irvin back in the 80s-90s (and probably someone I'm forgetting), not a lot of SB champs fielded that prototypical, blue chip boundary WR1 with length and speed (also Rice's timed speed was underwhelming).

Andre Reed is the WR Bills fans celebrate most from the 90s teams. But it was James Lofton and Don Beebe who worked the boundaries. Reed made his living in the middle, as we know.

Remember how darn efficient and surgical Josh Allen was when he had an elite slot receiver to throw to? Watching the last quarter of the 13 seconds game, and Beasley was SO integral to moving the chains in the first half of those last two pivotal late game drives (got a little beat-up on that last drive, but his impact and target share was unmistakable).

Seems reasonable to me to have high hopes for a Josh Allen-led offense that features a strong o-line, better than average running game, talented/ascendant passing weapons at TE (Kincaid, Knox, and Morris) and Z/Y receivers (Samuel and Shakir--with Hamler and Isabella behind them on PS)...and also LONG boundary guys with a variety of traits and pedigrees (Coleman, MVS, Hollins, Shorter/Shavers) who can hopefully take advantage of their limited, but important, opportunities. Maybe even blow up every now and then when opposing defenses leave them on islands.

Being reminded of Andre makes me jump down the rabbit hole of his YouTube highlights…<sigh> that speedy YAC stuff never gets old!!

Does it make Bills fans feel worse about the Coleman pick knowing that the Team that highly drafted N'Keal Harry and Tyquan Thorton wanted him?

Is it terrible that all I can think of when I read the name “Tyquan Thorton,” is the main character “Guybrush Threepwood” from “Escape from Monkey Island” video game fame? 🥴 @dollars 2 donuts, tell me I’m not the only one here who’s ever played that??

  3. I say best because of the ability to spread the ball around to a committee of multiple good if not great options under Brady’s fully realized schematics, as opposed to say, force feeding Diggs to the detriment of the best option per play—also fully expect the Bills run game under Brady and with Cook to continue to improve and take pressure off, opening up more deep shots. I just have a great feeling about this year, national pundits be darned!

  4. I choose to look at that era as a never duplicated uninterrupted back to back to back to back run of AFC supremacy—one that not even the Chefs or Patsies have been able to do…our ability to get back up off the mat and push that boulder back up the next season’s mountain has always been inspiring. Look at it that glass half full sort of way and it’s not quite as painful imho. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Serious Question - Can Von Miller bet on himself here, or is that against league rules? I'd be genuinely curious if this were allowed, how many players would bet on themselves to win certain awards...

Like Herc said - chances are slim to none that any of our defensive linemen are considered for this, but i'd still be curious!

    @NoHuddleKelly12

After a month I just realized (after someone reacted to this accusation which is worthy on its merits) I had a typo in the third last line.

I wrote "was case" instead of "was the case."

...I gotta tell you NOW I feel like a complete idiot.

Correction made.  Thank you, Board, for not letting it go viral before I had the chance to fix it...you guys are the best.

I’ll travel to the game in Atlanta.

I can see the stadium on my way to the grocery store. Yes, I’m willing to make that kind of sacrifice.

💯. This will be a can’t-miss, 45 min to an hour road trip from the ‘burbs, already can’t wait!!!

  8. This will be problematic given the 24 hours of “A Christmas Story” that’s supposed to be playing in the background on a loop at the house…plus the fact that oh by the way, it’s Christmas??????????  🙈. Just hope the Bills don’t ever play at this time that’s supposed to be spent with family far and wide, many of whom don’t watch football to begin with. 🤷🏼‍♂️. /rant.

As a long-suffering Bills fan, I have concern about every opponent.  I've experienced too many disappointments and witnessed too many unhappy surprises over the years.

When I was in the army, we planned for different scenarios: most likely, most favorable, most dangerous...  The most dangerous scenario is Saleh puts together another good defense and Rodgers stays healthy & has a good year.

I hear ya Hondo…but still let’s categorize the Jets as most likely to finish the season living in an ayahusca totin’ van down by the river!giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952p22az2gpb8fl44mn53

The nepotism in the NFL is wild.

Don't get me wrong, nepotism is everywhere. It's amazing that a guy like Hackett, who should be an OC of a D3 football team at this point, is still getting chances. He basically destroyed the Broncos franchise.

As a proud bench warming alumnus of a D3 Western Pa small school’s football program, I take great umbrage at the thought of having had Hackett as OC…and that’s coming from a program where our base O package was the triple option! 🙌

We're at our usual ratio of one good post per every 4 pages. Thank you @section122 for the one good post.

Agree with all of the above and would have made the same arguments had you not posted. All of your points are excellent.

To point number one, of course Parry will have involvement in training camp and practices. Why would they pay him as an officiating/game management coach and not have him do so?????

To point number two, of course he'll advise the coaches on officiating nuances which can be taught to the players. And of course he'll know the tendencies of the various officials and crews and of course his hiring will generally play positively in the officiating community.

And yes, there is zero downside... which makes you wonder why anyone would have a negative view of this hire. The Bills have just done something that makes total sense... and that no other NFL team has done before... to a generally lukewarm and negative response here.

    Other points to consider:

    1. In 2020, the Bills hired Marc Lubick as their Game Management Coach. You think that maybe Parry will be assisting Lubick in these duties?
    2. Half of all NFL games are decided by 7 points or less. You think maybe that Parry's hire might have a generally positive effect on game outcomes?

To your point about assisting with coaching rules nuances to the players, don’t forget we are about to usher in yet another new era on D with having to comport with the new hip drop tackling prohibition…you almost have to have a dedicated rules official on staff just to keep up with all the yearly changes. Love this move by the Bills.

I love the way he effortlessly plucks the ball out of the air. A big focus of our past two offseasons has been adding pass catchers that, well, catch passes.

Anyone know who they have throwing to the WRs in this minicamp?
