Not sure about the first cause we def don’t have the ammo but trading back into the 2nd for sure. Unless we trade a few spots, then I absolutely see a trade into the back of round 1.

We resigned Phillips, we got Hughes and Star and Murphy and Lawson and Yarborough and Harold and H. Phillips.
We're talking about drafting Oliver or Wilkins or Gary. On top of that we're trading for Clark.
Just wondering? Is anybody concerned we've done nothing as far as our LB corps is concerned?
No, nickel defense is the base defense and Milano and Edmunds are perfect for that role. Both highly productive and studs. Sure grab a back up in the 5th otherwise, we’re good.

My dream of a monster defense does not preclude the team from scoring points, good sir!
Not sure why people don’t want all 3 phrases to be good.

Clowney may have not had the sack totals of the other guys but he is great against the run and was 1st or 2nd in the league in pressures. I’m not completely sold but would get on board if it happened. May want Clark more due to compensation but not sure how he fits in culture wise
This is so true and can play LDE very effectively. I always look at it like this. Is the guy going to make offensive coordinators game plan, the answer is yes. He wreaks people’s game plans and that’s good with me

Well, maybe the Bills could use the same concept with another player like Clark or even someone else.
Well the difference is, Clark is had been way more productive than Clowney and actually surpasses Lawernce production as well.

I’d rather have clark

Hoping a swap of picks and possible a 3 or 4 will do it. Would absolutely love Clark in Buffalo

Great post cause I absolutely see ya trading up at some point earlier.

Im fully in the boat of waiting till the 3rd round and snag Anthony Johnson. Dude is gonna be a good receiver and he would be in a good situation here. Can develop nicely behind Cole, Foster and Brown
-
As states earlier Jonah, Taylor or Dillard, hock as the unlikely pick
-
Seeing that the Seahawks are low on picks I’d think a swap of 1st and giving up 2 or 3 should do it. I’d jump on this in a heart. He’s well worth the money, D law got a 100 million and had one less sack with one more year of playing.

Cole Beasley was getting into it with people yesterday too.
Feels like our whole team has a MASSIVE chip on their shoulder.
I agree and those chips can carry teams to a super bowl run

I don’t get all the love for Oliver !
hes undersized for a DT , I think he will get destroyed in a run game , he hasn’t shown anything when it comes to rushing the passer and against a low level competition he was facing,
So what is it about him that screams a top 10 pick ?? Potential?
Yes cause the league is such a run heavy league. Fact is he had 53 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in 32 games. Per game he avg more tackles for loss than Donald in college and .2 sacks fewer. Oliver is a rare talent, you don’t find linemen, let alone interior linemen that explosive at 280 pounds

Historic Success Chart
The numbers show us the following outline for finding consistent starters:
1st Round - OL (83%) LB (70%) TE (67%) DB (64%) QB (63%) WR (58%) RB (58%) DL (58%)
2nd Round - OL (70%) LB (55%) TE (50%) WR (49%) DB (46%) QB (27%) DL (26%) RB (25%)
3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)
4th Round - DL (37%) TE (33%) OL (29%) LB (16%) WR(12%) DB (11%) RB (11%) QB (8%)
5th Round - TE (32%) DB (17%) WR (16%) OL (16%) DL (13%) RB (9%) LB (4%) QB (0%)
6th Round - TE (26%) OL (16%) DL (13%) WR (9%) DB (8%) RB (6%) LB (5%) QB (0%)
7th Round - DB (11%) OL (9%) QB (6%) WR (5%) DL (3%) LB (2%) RB (0%) TE (0%)
Eric Ebron was a 1st round pick
Gronk, Ertz were 2nd rounders
Kelce, cook were 3rd rounders
Kittle was a 5th rounder From Iowa
Anyway, if you look at the CBS mock drafts you see Hock going at #7 to #19 and most have him going at #12 to GB. The kid is the complete package at TE and blocks like Gronk. He dropped one pass out of 51 and was the first sophomore to win the John Mackey award as the nation's top TE. He also won the big ten TE of the year award. Buffalo has never had a TE this good
Interesting article, https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/t-j-hockenson-the-better-iowa-te-prospect
Awesome stuff, I still think rd 2 is where we need to go at tightend but great read
5 hours ago, JoshAllenHasBigHands said:Dude, I would be alllll about a TE, but I don't want to use our first round pick for 750 yards (the 13 tds is nice, though).
What really spooks me is Ebron. Before Hockenson, Ebron was the next sure fire, cant miss TE. Then he wasn't. The media gets hyped for the draft, the NFL promotes it, and we fall for it. Every year so many guys are touted as the next big thing, but they rarely are. Only a handful of guys end up being stars, and the rest are just solid contributors or less. I'd bet you just about anything that Hockenson is destined to be the next highly touted TE that ends up being just another guy.
The only thing about this is that Ebron had drop concerns coming out of college. The combine shot him into the top 10. Those drops carried over, nor was he regarded really as a blocker. Fant and Hock both don’t share these concerns

Sorry any list that doesn’t include Harry is lazy and wrong. Hoping for him or a tightend with our 2nd pick even if it means moving up.

Have him go to Santoras on transit or Amherst Ale house

But he was down to 281 at his pro day. I imagine that he dropped weight to run as fast a 40 as he could, but I have to wonder would he be able to maintain 287 in the league or would he end up playing close to 280?
I know now that there have been a few players that succeeded at DT at light weights - guys like Donald and John Randle come to mind, but they are still the exception rather than the rule.
It’s all about what you ask him to do. Let him sit on obvious run situations, let him be the nickle DT and get after the qb. The game has changed drastically and the role of a pass rushing DT is more valuable than a do it all guy.

I get it. I’d also point out that Donald is an exception. Not the rule. Most good DTs in the league are much closer to the 300lb mark or over.
Donald just happens to be a freak
This is true but most teams also slide a defensive end inside at the 3 tech to rush the passer. You don’t need to do that with Oliver, he’s a rare talent because of his size he’s still incredibly strong. That what makes him an elite prospect

That's what much of his running was. I read somewhere that he averaged over 10 yards per dropback/scramble. That's like completing 100% of his check down throws for over 10 ypc. I doubt that any QB can come close to that. His running was better than check down throws would have been. I am not one of those to believe that staying in the pocket is the safest option. At least not until they protect him better.
Kiko Alonso and Anthony Barr would be in favor of more check down throws too, I bet.
Couldn’t agree more
-
Well it shows they have vets already in place and can develop these linemen the right way

Believe me, I really like the idea of Hockenson, but going forward I think it'll be a lot easier to draft a potential all pro TE than a potential all pro DL if you're continuously drafting at 20 or worse. I agree that a great TE could certainly help Josh, but I don't think that will determine whether or not he is a franchise QB. Btw, the one game I went to last year was the Jags, and I mentioned to my friend, after Josh did some amazing thing, "it looks like the Bills have their franchise QB." So, in Beane I trust...
Totally agree with you, heck we can do it this year in the 2nd or 3rd with Irv, Stenberger or Fant.
-
Yep let’s drastically overhaul the defense that we’ve been building the last two years, brilliant.

I like Hockenson a lot but nothing at him screams a generational talent. I think he could develop maybe into a tightend like Whitten but I see more heath miller/Todd heap.
While I’d like a player of that caliber on this roster, I would not pass on him
for a guy like Ed Oliver. Especially when we can still get a tight end like Irv Smith, Josh Oliver, Jace Stenberger or Foster Meanru in the 2nd or 3rd.
Now Noah Fant that’s different

The renderings from the jetblog.com look completely different

As I said, draft a player in the 4th or 5th round. Why would we invest a premium pick on a back up linebacker.
