Why not just have a play in game? The fourth team vs say UCF this year for example? Whoever wins gets in. There is no need to change anything really because the ccommittees gotten it right every year. It should always be about who the best teams are. Not just because the pac 12 team won its conference championship and some other team didn't. Further I'm against an 8 team playoff or a ten team playoff because it devalues regular season games. If you like playoffs go watch the NFL, leave college football alone.

I know it's another year away but where do you think Tua goes in the draft?

What? You've already made your decision on Allen. I don't think Allen is our guy yet but he is not yet not our guy. People are nuts man.
Yep. I know people were like oooooh big tall strong arm QB me likey when it came to Allen but he hasn't won me over. Not saying he won't. Almost any qb at this point would be better than what we got.

8-8 or 9-7 territory is where we were under Rex Ryan. Why would it be desirable to tear down and rebuild in order to get back to where you started?
Improvement from this year. Is 9-7 our goal? No. I'm talking baby steps. Expect and see continued improvement year to year. The year after an extended run in the playoffs. Not a difficult concept. Not sure why this has to be explained. But I'll take it a step further. If these aren't the results you get then you fire your coach and GM.

I hope this is sarcasm. There are multiple nobodies who started for them and had success. Their schemes are a big part of their success.
Without Brady those nobodies dont do squat. Again put NP in their scheme and see what happens.

Only issue with Metcalf is he needs a supporting cast. He can't be your one and only wide receiver. He needs other good to great wide receivers around him.

Bill's QBs are getting hammered. They barely make it out of A game alive. You've got to go oline oline oline then wide receiver in the draft.

Exactly! I like the way you think!

With his ability to scramble and make plays out of thin air would he be a better option than what may be available out there now? I know a lot of you guys say we have our qb but we really don't. Would Manziel even be able to be picked up at this point?

He may or may not be watching, but it's obvious he is just trolling at this point.
At some points you're like this guy has some intelligence. Then he goes and blows it by saying something that not only shows his lack of objectivity but that maybe he drank too much before posting.

In all fairness, their QB Ehlinger, is a middle of the pack qb. He can't do the same things he did against OU right now. The Big 12 doesn't play defense though. Until Herman gets that defense straight they will be subject to losses just like this one.

Agreed. The guy is NEVER satisfied. He is undoubtedly a great coach. As a ND fan I disliked him back in the day and it has done nothing, but grow over the years.
As I've gotten older I find it easier to accept that players/people you disliked because of who they played for etc were actually good and it's ok to admit it. If you ever get a chance to see Saban in person go do it. He is a very smart detailed oriented person. He would be successful no matter what business he pursued.

Are there any round 1 type receivers? Not sure this is a good year for receivers in the draft.

Syracuse needs a top notch qb and to keep their coach. Offer him whatever but keep him.

4 words...dont cut any qb.
Bring in who you want, though this would be another idiot move, but dont cut any qb. Figured you guys would have learned by now.
-
Some of you guys dont understand. You can have the greatest scheme in the history of the NFL but without the players scheme is almost worthless. The Patriots aren't doing it with scheme. Derek Anderson or NP as the Patriot's QBs wouldn't have the record Brady does. I saw Daboll trying to throw new wrinkles in but there are NO weapons. No oline, no decent qb, and no decent wide receivers.

Tanking for the top pick when you're not targeting a QB is just a giant FU to the fans who continue to pay top dollar to watch total incompetence.
Seriously, how will the #1 pick in the draft help this pathetic offense. It's like trying to fix a sink hole with an tube of toothpaste.
Take the top pick and trade it for more pics in the draft.
I'd draft 5 olineman and from there wide receivers. I wouldn't touch defense until oline and wr issues are addressed.

Talent versus coaching can be debated endlessly, but the empirical evidence shows that we have an offensive coordinator who has never had success anywhere he's been. The last time Brian Daboll was an NFL offensive coordinator was the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs. It was the only offense this decade to average fewer than 14 points per game (we're currently far worse at only 10.9 ppg). That 2-14 Chiefs team had Jamaal Charles at running back, Dwayne Bowe at wide receiver, 4 year starter Matt Cassel at QB, etc. Certainly enough talent to score every once in a while. The next season with mostly the same players (although with Alex Smith at QB) and Andy Reid calling plays, the Chiefs went 11-5, made the playoffs, and had one of the league's better offenses.
Of course we need more talent on offense, no one would argue otherwise. But, 4.5 seasons with 4 different teams and there is simply no evidence that Daboll has any idea what he is doing as an offensive coordinator. I have no doubt he could do better with more talent, but so could the universe of other potential offensive coordinators. The real question is: could someone else do better with this exact same collection of players? I think the answer is "yes."

Right now I'm sure Daboll is wishing he could go back to Bama.

Are the Bill's the only team who's qb takes 4 loratabs, snorts a line of coke, and two shots of tequila pregame because they know what kind of oline is in front of them? ?

Peterman has one critical weakness. He throws interceptions on out patterns. If he can figure out why he's doing int and correct it, he's a pretty serviceable QB, but nothing is going to kill your team faster than interceptions on out patterns, because more often than not they end up as defensive touchdowns for the other team.
I should be coach...
A. Throw earlier
B. Dont throw out patterns

Who do you want to “bring in the talent” (as if you can just go down to the corner store and pick up a bag of “talent”), the guys who have methodically stripped the franchise of it?
I'm not talking about right now. I'm talking about FA and drafts. Next year is the year for improvement. And what I mean by improvement is gradual not superbowl winning improvement. Something like a 8-8 to 9-7 record. If we see no improvement, another dumbest ever trade, and a losing record it would be time for a change.

No. Their abject mismanagement of the offense and specifically the QB position is borderline negligence (hyperbole on my part) & warrants dismissal (not hyperbole).
The fact that they have an unplayable option as the #2 QB still on the roster warrants dismissal.
This is all about trends -- and nothing on this team's offense is trending in the right direction. These guys haven't done one thing in the last year & a half to demonstrate that they have any grasp whatsoever about how to build/develop an offense in the modern NFL.
When it comes time to interview candidates, any coach or GM who comes in and mentions "ball control" or "field position" should be immediately escorted from the premises by security.
I don't necessarily disagree with you. They've made some serious almost fireable mistakes. I give them this year and next. If I don't see something that can be deemed progressive/pulling this team together then I'd fire them. Right now they have totally clustered this team up. The sole reason this team is a mess is because of them.

Keep the coaches, bring in talent, and rebuild. Firing anyone will only compound the mistakes made.

Im a Bama fan and I was surprised he lasted this long. He didnt suck this bad at Bama.

Better than say Petterman you mean? Yeah he would have been better than NP. Obvious isn't it? My thing is how can you trust a coach and Gm to make any further decisions when it was obvious then as it is now that 3 qbs were needed. Wouldn't you think it would be better to keep a guy who has been here a few months than to bring someone in who would only have a couple of months to learn a system/timing with receivers? Absolutely they should have given AJ a shot. The only way they could have made the qb situation worse is if they had let you or me play qb.
