This is supposed to be your year and there was never a better opportunity.
Then you lose to the Dolphins.
Joe Burrow is committing career suicide with the Bengals(and his injuries are his fault), pretty much leaving the AFC to Josh and Patrick. Now, Lamar is about to make a brief appearance(after 2026 he should decline).
You were looking good. You have virtually HFA over KC and whoever comes out of the AFC North. The Colts are a sitting duck. But you are behind the Patriots in your division. The Chiefs are behind Denver.
This is the 2008 version of the Mahomes and Allen rivalry. Brady got knocked out all year and Manning was recovering from surgery and playing injured most of the year. The Pats lost the division and Manning didn't win his. And the Steelers, the third wheel powerhouse team then, took advantage.
This just might be the year Josh and Patrick are wild cards. And guess who is going to probably pick up the tab? The one person who could only win in a scenario like this.
Lamar.
I would also wager to say both you and KC are wild card exits, KC's first with Mahomes and Josh's since his sophomore year. The Ravens will sit at the fourth seed hosting the Bills in the wild card round and then proceeding to go on the road against the Broncos and Colts, who do not have the pedigree to win the AFC. Vrabel is one of the few coaches who have punched Mahomes in the mouth so that exit is very possible(they could win in KC even).
I hate this for you, so I hope you win the division. KC has a harder road and I think the double whammy occurs if they lose their division based on the narrative.
But this was the year. You're not gonna get KC this low again and I'm pretty sure with the cupcake schedule next year(NFC South and AFC South) Joe Burrow will take back his division and Lamar is due for a breather.
