  1. Simms is right though.  Josh has put this inaccuracy thing to rest.  People who still bring it up are either intellectually lazy and haven't made any effort to have an informed opinion or are simply biased against him because they don't want to eat their hot takes against Josh when he came out of college.  Allen is 1st in the NFL in adjusted completion percentage and he is anything but a Captain Check Down to pad his numbers.  He is also doing it all without a running game.

Josh Allen is a highly accurate NFL quarterback. Anyone who says differently at this point is either ignorant or lying.

You should go get a library card this afternoon.  There is a great book I'd highly recommend, it's called The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. I think it could be a real game changer for you.

  3. Just jumped into this thread on page 30, forgive if this has been discussed previously...

The Bills were pretty successful containing Lamar Jackson's running ability last year when we played.  We will face the same challenge Sunday against Kyler Murray.  The problem is that we are missing players that were instrumental in limiting Jackson last year.  We are without Milano and Zo Alexander who combined for 15 tackles in that game and helped provide effective edge containment against Jackson.

I'm not sure we have anyone on our roster with the mobility to do what Zo and Milano did last year.  Frazier and McDermott are going to have to figure something else out, I don't think they can recycle that Raven's game plan this weekend because we simply don't have the personnel to execute it.

  4. I think this is going to be another shoot out and I think Allen and Co. can score more points than the Cards can.  I think our offense is becoming elite.  Will Daboll line up Morse, Feliciano, and Dawkins shoulder to shoulder again and maul the Cards on the ground for 200+ yards ala the Patriots' game, or will he go 3 or 4 wide and light them up in the air ala the Seahawks game?   Can the Cards can cover Diggs, Brown, Beasley, and Davis at the same time?  Can anyone?  If the defense can get some stops or take away the ball here and there, I like our odds even more.

  5. I'm one of their many viewers who was going to ESPN for my escape from reality (why I love sports) only to find them talking about national politics instead of sports.  If I had wanted political programming I would have kept the channel on CNN or Fox.  Conservative or Liberal, it doesn't matter, I want to hear about sports on a sports network.  Seems like a simple concept that somehow got lost at ESPN.  I won't be back to ESPN until they get back to their roots.

  6. I have always looked at play action like pre-snap motion.  It gives defenders one more thing to account for and process at the beginning of the play and can slow their reaction time by a split second giving the offense an advantage.  That slight hesitation on the part of a defender can be the difference between a play hitting big or being blown up.   Statistics show that play action passes have a significantly higher completion percentage than passing plays without it.   I've never understood why offensive coordinators don't include play action or pre-snap motion in every play they can.  I'm glad Daboll has made them a feature of our offense this year.  I think it has been paying dividends.

My condolences to Josh for his loss.  Maybe it’s me, but I don’t understand a go fund me campaign for the family of a multi million $ QB, who most likely will get in two years a $40 mil./yr. contract.  I’m not cheap, I’d just rather give my donation $ to a place like the Hildren’s Home down here, or Shriners, etc.

You might have misread the situation.  These donations are going to a children's hospital in Buffalo that Josh has taken under his wing and has been fund raising for.  The donations are in his grandmother's honor.  A nice gesture from the Bills' Mafia.  I chipped in my $17.  Seems like a classy way to support our favorite quarterback.

  8. Diggs in on pace to break the Bills single season receiving yards record set by Eric Moulds in 1998 with 1,368 yards AND the Bills' single season reception record also set by Eric Moulds in 2002 with 100 receptions.

Through nine games Diggs is sitting at 65 receptions for 813 yards.

Not too bad to blow into town and challenge all time franchise records in your first year.

You call seven sacks high level hmm

You don't explode for 449 yards of offense and score 44 points with bad O-Line play. So yeah, I'd say that the O-Line played at a high level yesterday.  The game I watched showed Allen with enough time to make the throws he needed all day long.  Kinda hard to put up the stat line Allen did without solid O-Line play.  If you feel the seven sacks trumps the offense's production yesterday and is the key metric to judge the O-Line's play against Seattle, have at it, but I'd respectfully disagree.

  10. Between the Jets and Dolphins they hold six of the first 35 draft picks in next year's draft.  Basically, on average, every sixth pick of the draft though pick #35 will be either the Dolphins or the Jets selecting.  With Tua and Darnold already in the fold, both teams could decide to forgo a new QB and trade back and collect even more draft picks.  Unless their GMs go full bore Bill O'Brien, both franchises should field a much more talented roster next year and be a lot tougher out for the Bills.

Originally you said, all of our backups would walk into starting roles on other teams

That makes it sound like they could all find multiple teams where they could start at, pretty easily

Everybody here thought Spain was a quality lineman, and he is pretty good. And he's on a practice squad

Line play has as much to do with your system and the people around you as it does with your talent. Wyatt teller is playing like a man possessed, and he was just all right here

The right system can do wonders for your career, they're all professionals

I still think ty would have the best chance at starting on another team. I don't think Bates could start at center when all centers are healthy, he'd have a chance with a few teams at guard.. but then again there's 20 other backup guards in the NFL who think the same way

We have cohesion, which is huge

Agree with with you that system fit is huge, but Teller is doing great in a different system and he couldn't crack the lineup here.  I think the only reason Spain is on the practice squad is because he had to clear COVID and get a practice or two in before he plays.  I'd be willing to bet you a Ted's hotdog he starts next week. To your last point, the Bills O-Line is playing great despite a lack of cohesion. I'm not sure there have been two games in a row where the same 5 linemen have lined up in the same position all season due to the coach's tinkering and injuries.

Appreciate the civil exchange 716, unfortunately that's not always the case here.   👍

I think we have really good depth, but that statement is definitely not true

Allen masks a lot of the deficiencies honestly

Nsekhe would have the best chance at starting on other teams probably, and he couldn't even start really at Washington

We have a lot of guys who can play in our system

    Hey 716

I agree with you that Allen is incredibly slippery back there and a bull to bring down when they finally do get to him, but I'd respectfully disagree with the rest of your position.

Carson Wentz has been sacked 32 times this year.  Joe Burrow has been sacked 28 times. Daniel Jones 23, Watson and Minshew 22 each.  Sacks are just one metric of O-Line play, and Josh took a boatload today, but I think today's sack total has to be put into context.

The Seahawks were bringing 6 or 7 defenders every down.  Jamal Adams basically spent the entire second half of the game lined up as a third DE and all he did was rush the QB.  The Bills didn't even pretend that they were going to run the football.  The O-Line played great today despite the sacks given up and with four out of the five lineman either playing out of position or as backups.  Allen threw the ball 38 times today, and not counting Allen scrambles, we only ran the ball 11 times all game.  I think the only designed run for Allen was the sweep around the right end for the TD.

I don't think that Bates, Nsekhe, and Boettger would have any difficulty finding a starting gig on one of the other 31 teams in the League.  Quality O-Linemen are always at a premium, especially in week 9 of a season.

  13. It was incredible to watch the Bills' O-Line continue to play at a high level when three starters went down today with injuries.  All of our backup linemen would walk into starting roles on other teams. Morse went down last week and Feliciano stepped in seamlessly to man the pivot.   At various points in the game today Ford, Winters, and Williams all left the game and in came Bates, Nsekhe, and Boettger and the O-Line never missed a beat.  In the last two weeks we have replaced everyone on the O-Line except Dawkins and there was no noticeable dip in performance.  How many teams in the NFL could replace four starting offensive lineman without getting smoked? The Bills went from having arguably the worst O-Line in football two seasons ago to having the deepest line in the League.  Kudos to the brain trust at OBD for turning a glaring weakness into a team strength.

Murray is really developing. I watched that game today and can see him giving us fits because of his speed. We don’t have a ton of top shelf speed on D. McDermott and Leslie had a good game plan for Jackson last year, but Murray might be past Jackson in reading defenses. Plus Murray has some great wideouts.
    Should be a good game.

I think we will really miss Milano and Zo Alexander against Murray.  Their mobility was a big part of the game plan last year when we contained Lamar Jackson.  I'm not sure we can duplicate that game plan without them in the lineup.  They combined for 15 tackles that game.

I read an article in the last week, on ESPN I believe it was, that the NFL is considering tweaking the playoff format so that division winners would no longer be guaranteed a home game. The reason is they do not want the NFC East winner (Philadelphia?), who may have something like a 6-10 record, hosting a very good team like Tampa Bay. So if this proceeds, if a wild card like Baltimore, for example, has a better record than us, we would not host them in the Wild Card round.

I saw that too.  That's a decision to make before the season starts.  I don't think it is appropriate to move the field goal posts midseason.  We are not dealing with massive disruptions to the season from COVID so far (knock on wood) which could justify a shuffle like that.  I don't see the need to make such an important change at this point.

  16. The Phins have a much easier schedule than the Bills do going forward.  That is the only thing in their favor.  If the Phins can score a defensive TD and special teams TD every week for the rest of the season like they did against the Rams,  they will be a threat to win the AFCE.  In the absence of the Phins setting all time NFL records for defensive and special teams scoring in a season, I think the Bills will probably squeak it out...
