BB a HOF coach has always been very passive with FA early in the process . The Patriots usually come in late looking for bargain binge prices. And often succeed. They always let more people walk than take in FA. And reap the benefits of extra draft picks. Why the change this year? Brandon Beane is the reason. BB and the Patriots have had a front row seat watching the Bills transformation by Beane. The Patriots have been triggered by the Bills & the success of TB in Tampa. The problem for NE is that their not good at this. They look like some day drinking random fan took over the controls of the NE Patriots. I’m happy but very surprised. The Patriots are in panic mode trying to keep up.

Its not a meltdown and they are not in panic mode- they have the money so he is putting his team in a position to win. They have invested in solid players this offseason and the ones that are suspect - can be cut without much cap spending.

It's been fun watching New England overpay for mid tier FAs today.

Now it's going to be fun to watch the Jets do the same.

Patriots are doing a good job... Might be overpaying but they are getting needed pieces to gain a few more wins  AND they have the money. Their defense will be stacked-- and didnt the Bills overpay with Addison , Jefferson and Butler last year?

That was how the system was built, but that's not how it functions.

I'm not sure why a lot of you can't see this. I just laid it out for you.

    Imagine you're a free agent.

Would you rather play for the team that always wins?

Or, would you rather play for the team that always loses?

Of course, you would pick the team that always wins.

The comp pick system was created to counter-balance this by rewarding bad teams who can't hold on to their players.

    But the opposite happened.

Now, not only are free agents overpaid by the loser teams (because it's the only way they can get these players), the winner teams get EXTRA picks in return and can replace those players that they just lost because, of course, they are overpaid by loser teams.

That seems like a pretty bad concept if the NFL is trying to encourage small market teams, who typically lose, to actually have a chance.

I think your logic is broken unless you can share a link where it says that the comp picks are to help teams who are bad..

  4. Give me Smith or I will take Rudolph for 5 million... I DO NOT want Cook or Everett-- To me both those players are no better than Knox. I seen too many drops by Cook in the playoffs this year and Everett's metrics are similar to Knox...  Our TE's will never average more then 5 targets a game.

Cook or Everett would just be the next whipping boy for Bills fans.

You mean Wade from the PS, yeah, that would be great! Get'er done Beane! ?

why do most people think Christian Wade can be on our 53 man roster... He is on the exempt list and our 11th man on our practice squad. Once we waved him and no one picked him up-- we brought him back and placed him on the practice squad as the 11th player..  He is exempt-- no one can sign him-- and we cant sign him to the 53 man roster. this is for the whole 2019-2020 season

Fair point, but Jim had to know he was the face of the fan base. Jim is obligated to do what he wants.

Jim also has the cash to make that visit on behalf of others.

Why WHy WHy-- Why should JIm go and visit Pancho? He was battling his own cancer-- do you even realize how much of a toll it takes on you. Pancho was a good story but do we need to visit every fan who has an illness.
