Hardly. We've been over this again and again.

America is a very nonintegrated county. You have vast swaths of the landmass of this country filled with nothing but white people and cows. There's a really strong chance that many of these people never met or saw a black person that wasn't on television and probably never met a latino that wasn't performing migrant labor. I grew up in a place like this and traveled all across the country working in other places just like it. These places are all politically aligned to be republican and they support policies that openly harm minorities.

Cities are where some measure of diversity exists, but even then it's often not well integrated, with minorities often relegated to the lesser parts of cities. Democrats don't do the working class or the poor very many favors either. It really comes down to whether an empty platitude is better than getting kicked in the stomach.

I went to college in a STEM field and we had roughly 800 students. Of those, 8 were women and 4 were black. Raising up communities requires a diversity of options. Not everyone is able to turn a wrench and not everyone is able to perform a surgery or code a phone app. When companies say "we don't discriminate based on x,y,z" it may be true, it may be not. What's clear however, is that not enough people are positioned and prepared to take advantage of those opportunities. The cause for that can be traced back to secondary education, which can be traced back to primary education, whose failures can be traced back to policing & legal representation, living conditions and generational poverty.

Make no mistake, the USA ***** on poor people of all colors and genders. I grew up around white people who didn't have a person in their family tree that wasn't poor. That's not ok in country that's the richest nation in world history. The biggest difference is they didn't have to battle the extra factors that other people do.

I believe that education and economic reform help the most amount of people with the least amount of change needed and that a lot of the social issues we have will sort themselves out by fixing those two things.

So, a radical redistribution of wealth and resources are in order?

Chris Christie calls the conduct of Trump's legal team a 'national embarrassment'

Paul Kane and Felicia SonmezThe Washington Post
    Nov. 22, 2020Updated: Nov. 22, 2020 6:57 p.m.

WASHINGTON - Several prominent Republicans said President Donald Trump's legal arguments had run their course, and called on him to allow the presidential transition process to begin.

Chris Christie, a Trump confidant who helped prepare the president for the debates, called the conduct of Trump's legal team a "national embarrassment." Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., said Trump had "exhausted all plausible legal options," and urged him to concede. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., said it's time to begin the transition.

Stop being a child (if possible).  England and later GB ran North America in a colonial system during the time frame I mentioned.  I guess that I should know better with you in terms of your credibility which is microscopic and collapsing.

You clearly are not capable of understanding that presenting lies as truth is in and of itself bad. Presenting 1619 as the year of the "founding of the USA as we know it" is a lie and incongruent with actual history. I could more accurately show that the Democrat party is simply an extension of their KKK roots than what the 1619 project has presented

Exactly, when the US was formed it was only several decades away from a war to end slavery.  The Founding Fathers tried hard to outright eliminate it but in the end were unsuccessful as the South was far too reliant on it.  These clowns take the view it was the "US" from the beginning because they know that Great Britain is not writing any reparations checks plus the population is loaded with like minded morons who might prove to be useful idiots in their battle.

That's just someone's opinion, so what? If she feels slavery was a super important event, why does that bother you so much?

Sounds like you are knit picking because you hate the real truth.

Go ahead and show the KKK thing, I'd love it. Please

You say this as your president is trying to get black people's votes thrown out in states he lost. He wants to disinfranchise black people. We have come along way, still need to make progress, obviously

Your statement is utter and total nonsense.

You forgot the FIFY!  That aside I think you have been huffing model airplane glue for quite a long time now.  Used to hear about guys stowed away in the R wing of Strong Memorial Hospital because they fried their minds with that stuff.  I'm thinking that you are one of them.

Very true and i agree but when the lame stream media decides to put in personal opinions instead of facts and unbiased reporting it pretty lame .

To add when they decide what is news worthy to report repeatedly on fabrications such as a paid for dossier then decides (for 4 yrs i might add) then not to report on certain dealings of a family member of a prominent politician with a Communist country or countries that's when it gets even worse !

Like the south who loath Yankees after the civil war?

Some still loath Northerners today.  I've met people from the South.  North Carolina may be New York light in terms of being inviting to those from the Northeast but there are places that are very much the stereotype that you see in television and the movies in terms of pushing non-Southerner's OUT!!!

I'm taking the under on you ever actually contributing a post of substance, Westside4.

That's right.  Tear down or discredit things that you do not understand.  That aside since the schism this board has become an interesting study in sociology. A couple generations ago guys like you would have been shunned to the corner of the neighborhood bar barely allowed in only because of the long held belief of because you have a penis you need a retreat from your household.  Today you have the platform to find like minded fools in WNY and points beyond.  You lucked out as to when you were born.  In 1975 you would have had a couple of stale beers still in the can tossed your way as a measure to shut your pie hole.

The idea that a corporation and/or news organization would have any sort of intentional political agenda that did not directly correlate to their bottom line has always been absurd at face value. The "media" is just a company like any other and they have a product that they sell in which they wish to get the maximum return for the minimum investment possible. They don't care whether their employees, partners, or customers are fascists or anarchists - only that it serves to generate them money. Certain brands, like Fox and MSNBC have carved out partisan ecosystems for themselves, but that's more a function of market niche in pursuit of the aforementioned financial returns, than any stoic principle they'll proudly stand for in the face of economic demise.

In spite of all of that, those on the extreme right have continued to demand that media, big tech, and whatever corporation features a gay couple in a commercial is somehow a liberal institution instead of one that just understands how to maximize returns. They do this, while accused liberally biased companies like Facebook, pull shenanigans like this:

"Mark Zuckerberg said banning Steve Bannon from the platform for advocating for the beheading of Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI director Christopher Wray is 'not what our policies would suggest'"
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/mark-zuckerberg-said-banning-steve-172706111.html

Zuckerberg, one of the world's richest people, is not anything remotely resembling the kind of "liberal" the right has defined in recent years. He may actually be a "neo-liberal" by definition, but then again so are most of the GOP who support corporatism, either openly or behind closed doors.

This idea of "liberal" media is a nice 2 for 1 that tries to vaguely define political enemies in an Animal Farm type structure along with something even more insidious. Anyone that's ever spent time around their racist uncles can remember when The Liberal Media used to run by a different anti-Semitic moniker. Replacing it with the world "liberal" gets the same point across while being a little more socially acceptable at kids birthday parties and holidays. Much the same can be said for the whole George Soros fascination from the right. They can do all of this with a straight face because Fox News & the church told them they should feign support for a corrupt war criminal in Netanyahu and that means that they aren't bigots. Bravo!

It's high time we started putting meaning back in words, because  as Inigo Montoya would say:

The Trumpies aka Deep State conspiracy nuts, all ran to another Bills site b.c they lost the election and cannot give true information on this site the without us disproving it.

So now they infect some other poor site, a few stick around and are basically our pinatas when we want to ask question and see what they give as responses... So far no intelligence has been detected from the few Trumpies left here.

Every country has some portion of their country who talks independence. Quebec certainly does as does Texas in the US,  and western states.

At one point most of Canada would have voted to kick Quebec out, mostly out of frustration, much like Brexit in England or Scotland push for independence.

Canada is a larger country than US, 11% the population so holding regions together is much harder than the US. A strong central government and sharing across the country is necessary and problematic at the same time.

At one point 25 years ago Ontario may have considered joining the US based on industry, mutual interests etc. Today 95% would not even want to visit.

Quebec does not loath the English language, they want their culture and language preserved and not over powered by the populous English. By the way the culture is worth preserving.

I've dealt with the Quebec French in business among other things.  Yes, they want their culture preserve but still loath the English.  Some are still butt hurt over the French and Indian War among other things.

In Canada, like the US, provinces pay taxes to the Federal Government, who in turn give money to provinces. We call these equalization payments.

Quebec is a huge drain on the country, with Western Canada picking up almost all of the weight. Last year alone Quebec received $13.1 billion in equalization payments.

The Maritimes are much smaller overall, but on a per capita basis they're even worse than Quebec. On average Western Canada subsidizes about $2500 per year per person in the Maritimes and about $1500 per year in Quebec.

If Canada broke up, Western Canada would benefit greatly, Ontario would essentially be net neutral, and Quebec and the Maritimes would essentially become 3rd world countries.

Interesting take on the Maritimes and one I don't usually hear.  The impression I get is that they are productive if not modern.  Fishing, lumber, and vegetable farming such as with PEI.  The western provinces are the nation's breadbasket and producers of raw materials.  Back to the Martimes does that region have a disproportionate amount of native people's receiving govt payments?  Not being critical but just trying to get a handle on to what is going on.

This is your standard response when you cannot defend your position.  Trump said that under Article 2 he could do whatever he wanted.  Obviously wrong, and a violation of his oath to defend the Constitution.  Do you or do you not think he wanted to be a dictator?

There is no getting around hysteria and gibberish when it is on display which is most of the time around here.  If Trump wanted to be a dictator he would have muzzled the media and taken away weapons from the citizens a long time ago. So to answer your question, no, I don't believe Trump wants to be a dictator.
