So, I have thought long and hard on the Bills QB dilemma and I believe with one call the Bills can be set for the next 8 to 10 years. The Seahawks are clearly in rebuilding mode. The Legion of Boom is a shell of what it once was and Pete Carroll may even be looking for  way out. I suggest we offer our two 1st round picks and next years 2nd rounder for Russell Wilson. He is a seasoned veteran with upside and youth on his side. The Seahawks are in need of so many positions, this could be a win win situation for both parties.

You're playing way too much Madden if you think this is even a possibility.

There is an old saying that there is no such thing as a stupid question.

That saying gets debunked daily on these message boards.

I was once told by a wise old man that there are no such things as dumb questions, just stupid people who ask questions.

    Yep.

The thing about McCown is he wants to become a QB Coach after retiring.

I think the Jet's are paying him to lock in on him as a future QB Coach.

It's not a bad move when you got a lot of Cap $'s.

I was hoping the Bill's could of done that with him.

From what I have read he is pretty good at teaching the QB position.

I agree.  The guy seems to understand the game on a different level then most.  It may have never translated to great success due to the lack of physical tools he has.  However he really knows and grasps the mental aspect of the game and it seems as though he has a great way of communicating that with the other qbs in the room.

Are they not allowed to re-sign or extend them?

Maybe they don't want to resign.  Maybe McCown retires.  Maybe Bridgewater balls out and goes to the highest bidder.  Way too many variables with the qb position for the Jets to trade up and take Barkley.  Yes I know they can franchise Bridgewater.  That would only be putting a band aid on a gaping wound though when you can draft a guy at 3 that pry has the same chance at success as Bridgewater has.  Plus you're guaranteed at least 5 years if you want it with the 3rd pick.

Could the Jets be moving up for Barkley? They just signed 2 QBs with 2 on their roster already. Bridgewater could be more then a bridge or stop gap guy. Browns go QB, Giants go QB or trade with someone else who now will be scarred of the Jets also going QB and Barkley (or Chubb) falls to them cause everyone thinks they go QB

Bridgewater and McCown are both on 1 year deals.

If you think the Colts didn’t shop the pick I think you’re nuts. You think they just excepted the first. Offer that was handed to them ?

Or Beane is smart enough to know at 3 two teams can still jump you in the draft.  Maybe Beane and Gettleman have an agreement where they said let's wait till 3 gets moved then we'll come up with a price then, if it doesn't get moved before the draft well make something happen that night.

I'm not a Bama fan per se, but I do admire some of the prospects they've put out over the years. Forget where mocks have these guys rated, forget what the talking heads think. Every year there are guys that were rated as late 1st round picks that in hindsight we look back and ask ourselves, why wasn't this guy drafted earlier? Does it really matter if you take a guy 10-15 picks earlier than he was projected?

I think Rashaan Evans is going to be a top 3 LB in the NFL. He is more explosive and violent than Smith and Edmunds. This guy would make a weak area on our team a strength. Evans is going to be an elite LB at the next level.

As far as Rudolph goes, do you really want to take that chance as far as waiting until the 2nd goes? He is a really solid prospect, I could see him going at the very top of the 2nd round, why not just draft him 10 spots higher than where he'll go? He has the potential to be a very solid starter, who cares where mock drafts have him going? QBs always get overdrafted, once again.

I'm not looking at mocks of these guys and basing my opinion on that.  If smith or Edmunds is there at 12 I'd rather have them over Evans.  I just don't see a Rudolph being a solid NFL starter.  Too many times a QB like Rudolph gets drafted and just doesn't do anything in the NFL.  I see Rudolph and Falk close to being on the same level and I think Falk will be there in the 3rd round.

The reason we lost out on the number three pick was because we couldn’t offer a blue-chip prospect right now not because we didn’t offer more pick value...Trust me the Colts front office was haggling all day with the bills for leverage but we couldn’t offer a franchise prospect at 12 blue chip prospects run out at about 7-9...  if the Browns or Giants value blue Chip prospects more than pic value The Broncos have a leg up on us...we don’t get to move up

How do you know we lost out on 3.  Maybe 1 or 2 is the ultimate goal that Beane is working on right now.

one more #2, leave Zay in the slot.  I was hoping Matthews would stay.

No point of keeping Matthews when we have Jones.  They are both slot guys. We need to find an outside deep threat to complement what he already have.

Rashaan Evans is the best LB in the draft, I don't care where mock drafts have him rated. Mason Rudolph may be a 2nd round prospect as well, but look how much the Jets gave up for #3. That pick is worth 2,200 and the Jets gave up 2,900. They overdrafted the living hell out of whichever QB they draft, so who cares if we draft an early 2nd round prospect at 22? QBs always get overdrafted.

I take it you're an Alabama fan.  Smith is way better then Evans but hey to each their own.  I wouldn't draft Rudolph in round 1 because there is a good chance he will be there in the second round and if not I don't think the talent between him and Falk are much different and Falk could definitely be had in later rounds.  Rudolph only put up gaudy numbers because of the system.

Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger immediately come to mind as far as great QBs that were guided along by strong rosters during the developmental phases of their careers early on. Nick Foles and Case Keenum benefitted from strong rosters around them last year and did awesome as well.

The year before Brady and Roethlisberger took over as the QB their teams both had losing records.  They become starters and take both their teams to the playoffs.  The qb position is so highly debatable that no one has a right or wrong answer.  I just feel like getting your qb first is the way to go.

Maybe you should form your own opinions rather than reading what Walter football says.

Smith and Edmunds are in a league of their own at the LB position and 1 of them will be there at 12.  Evans is a good player don't get me wrong.  There will just be better talent on the board still at 12.  Rudolph is a system qb that is going to need a lot of coaching at the next level.

  13. Just now, NewDayBills said:

They have no supporting cast though, a rookie going to the Jets is entering a very volatile situation. Football is a team sport, we would be better off with Mason Rudolph at 21 and still having 5 other picks to spend in RDS 1-3.

It's not about next year.  It's about the years coming.  Get your qb when you can then build the team around him.  Just look at teams with great rosters and not so great QB play.  They usually don't do all that well.  Now if you have great QB play and not so great of a roster anything is possible.

I think it’s fair to say that in the last 20 years Manning and Luck have been closest to a sure thing QB coming out of college.  As has been stated repeatedly, all the QBs in this draft have a significant flaw.  Accuracy, size, attitude, personality, fragility.

I’m surprised you would take issue with my erudite post.  Do you have six fingers on your right hand???

Relax I was just messing around.  It's pretty common knowledge there is no Manning or Luck in this draft and there probably won't be one to enter a draft for another 20 years.  Thing is though them kind of guys only come around every so often so you have to take your shot at a qb not of that stature.  If you keep waiting for your Luck or Manning to come out of college you're just gonna be where we have been since Kelly retired.

  15. No defensive tackle out there can single handedly impact a game the way a quarterback can.  This is the year to get the quarterback.  We have the ammo to do it.  I would hate to see the Bills do all this work just to stop short of the end goal which is finding our franchise qb who can lead us to the playoffs and beyond for the next 15 years.

What exactly are Rosens off the field issues supposed to be? That his silly ass put a hot tub in his dorm? Or tweeting pro Trump stuff? Sincerely I'm asking? Sounds like stuff he shouldn't be getting moved diwn draft boards over

They question his coachability, whether or not he is a good teammate, the fact he is an independent thinker, if he loves the game or not, and if he is going to bounce from the NFL as soon as he gets a big pay day.  I personally think all these claims against him are bogus and there is quite a bit of evidence that goes in his favor.  People are just going to look for a juicy story no matter what even if it is a slightly fabricated story or non story.

The Jet QB room is veteran heavy, with both Bridgewater and McCown on fresh new big contracts --- this indicates the Jets may be taking the slower route to rebuilding their QB position. I could see them drafting a project type QB to sit on the bench for a few years.

Both are only a 1 year deal, they are far from big contracts.
