People caring about mock drafts.
LOL.
It’s pathetic how much stock people put into these. I swear they act like this is what’s going to happen.

Anyone have anything solid on this? Are we waiting for him to clear medical before they sign him? Are we at that point or is this a fantasy? Certainly we have to have some concrete evidence anything????
Usually if they leave it’s not a good thing.

How much would this dude cost?
Seems like 5-7 million was the going rate when free agency started

Simmons just makes so much sense with our glaring hole at FS.

$4.5M cap hit this year, $9M in 2025, then two void years. This is an overpay IMO.
Looks more like a one year deal to me. Far from an overpay

Safety is the RB of the defense. You can plug almost anyone into this scheme and they will be OK.
People need to stop worrying about Defense. McD can scheme up enough answers during the regular season.
During the playoffs it doesn't matter anyway no matter how good they are, the offense is going to need to carry them because they can't stop anyone when it counts.
Load up on offense and do enough on D to get by.
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again that haven't worked and expecting different results.
The focus needs to be on offense, forget the defense. Fill it in like they did with the offense last year.
Also, plenty of viable safeties will be around in the 5th and 6th rounds. You don't waste high picks on non difference making positions.
He can’t scheme up a bowl of jello when it matters most

I know this is hard for people but he’s going sometime soon. You’re not going to keep paying him $27+ million forever.
The question is do we get something decent for him?
That ship has sailed. With his salary probably a mid round pick

The teams not overpaying for mediocre talent

Take the highest ranked prospect on their board at a position of need.

What we do to get that WR? I think it's a fluid situation depending on how the draft is falling whether we stay put or move up. I'm sure they have their targets for who they are willing to trade up for if that person falls a bit to us. Maybe we get lucky and someone falls to us at 28 that the really like.
Unless they trade pretty far up there isn’t going to be a WR at 28 worth the pick. At that point it will be the 7th-9th best receiver.

6th rounder which can become a 4th rounder ? I didn't think we was perceived around the league so poorly
I think most people with an average brain could see he sucks. Pretty sure most NFL teams do as well

Fields isn’t good. Not sure what Pittsburgh’s doing here

Better pray Cooper Dejean isn't on the table at #28, because I can't see McD passing on him.
I think Beane will land a veteran S yet, and I'd like to see him gamble some depth to go get the best possible WR in round 1.
My confidence in that happening fluctuates by the day.
Being at 28 may take them out of the round 1 receiver market. I wouldn’t settle for the 7th or 8th best prospect when there will probably be a much better prospect at a different position there
-
First or 2nd round WR now and the WR room is looking good.

What is the cap hit if he is traded? What is a 33 year old possibly declining WR with a huge contract even worth?
He’s 30 and it would cost more cap space to trade him than keep him
-
Pretty sure Beane isn’t going to pigeonhole himself into WR in round 1. At pick 28 they’ll likely be looking at the 7-9th best WR prospect. There’s other needs to consider

Samuel doesn't play on the outside. He is a slot guy through and through. Comparing him to Davis doesn't make any sense. Two very different roles in the offense.
You would want to compare him to Shakir in last years offense.
All that said everybody knows the plan is to get a WR to play on the outside in Davis spot. But if there are some growing pains Shakir is a pretty versatile guy who absolutely can play in both positions effectively. I think he has some Robert Woods in him as well.
I like the Samuel signing, but we also seem to get these mid-tier FA to block our draft picks at times. Samuel and Shakir seem to be an example of that. Shakir is in a good spot to take on more responsibility in the offense and we just signed his replacement in the slot and the entire world knows that we are going to take an outside guy early.
We need more WR talent. I get it. But also we blocked playing time for Shakir and Hodgins (who both flashed when given reps) with Curtis Samuel, Deonte Harty, and Isaiah McKenzie (to an extent).
46% of his career snaps came on the outside so you are dead wrong

So if Cook is injured, then you are ok with Ty and a 6th round RB being our backfield for the playoffs?
Most teams would be in a similar situation if their main back got injured.
