    By best competition...  you mean

    Stephen F. Austin-2 sacks

    Kentucky- 2 sacks

    Kansas State- 1 sack

    Louisiana Tech- 1 sack

Ole Miss- 1.5 sacks... basically more than half the kids sacks came against inferior competition.

Add three sacks in one game against an 8-5 Auburn team, which was impressive, but really the only team that is of legit comp that he showed out against this season.

    Amari Cooper

    Derrick Henry

    Dre Kirkpatrick

    Kareem Jackson

    Marlon Humphrey

    Minkah Fitzpatrick

    Calvin Ridley

I'll add a couple of UDFA Bama dudes:

    Levi Wallace

    Robert Foster

I’m vacationing in Spain with my family. Walking through the grand city park in Madrid and a fellow Bills fan walks by wearing a Bills sweatshirt.  He didn't see me wave. So far I’ve seen a Cubs and Red Sox hats  but no other NFL gear.

If that was you, have fun in Spain.

Very cool. Last year I was in Madrid as the resident Director of a Winter Spanish immersion study abroad high school program. I researched where I could watch the Bills-Jaguars playoff game and found the James Joyce Irish pub in downtown Madrid. Ran into a Nichols school grad and his wife who were there to see their daughter get married to a Madrileño. We had an awesome time pulling for our beloved Bills and were even joined later by a father/son tandem from Cinci (who were grateful that we had both contributed to Andy Dalton's fund lol!)

    **From an article on gronk**

He was a ridiculous tight end.

Great all around blocking and receiving.

He was an great tight end prospect who came with a significant red flag of injury risk.

You act like he was some dumpster diving trash tight end coming out of college.

He was a lock for the first round if he didn't have the serious injury concerns.

Thank God we drafted an injury risk free Torell Troup in lieu of Gronk...oh wait...

He cheap-shotted Tre, but he'll go down as one of the best three athletes to come out of Buffalo ever.

Spahn, Gronk & Kane.  Rank em how you want.

I'd rank Bob Lanier (Bennett High School, St. Bonnie) and Randy Smith (Buff State and NBA Buffalo Braves, who also could have been a professional soccer player) right up there with the best of them. Imho, Randy Smith was one of the greatest athletes ever in any sport

LaAdrian Waddle is 2nd team Key and Peele All-Star.  The grammarian in me abhors the double vowel and would like to see an apostrophe instead, L'Adrian.

Omg, LOVE Key and Peele's East-West All-star names like D'Pez Poopsie and Myriad Profiteroles. If we could sign those two to join LaAdrian Waddle, THEN we'd have a real OL.

    ?

They got arguably the best pass rusher in the league at the time. The problem was the rest of the team lacked any talent at all.

I beg your pardon. Mario Williams, a GREAT Marcel Dareus (at the time of the signing), Meatball and Jerry Hughes arguably made up the most talented DL in the NFL. Now where I will agree with you is we didn't have the franchise QB so0 all that talent didn't matter. But, please, spare me with the "team lacked any talent at all."

The note from Dr. Andrews about Taylor reminds me of an Epstein's mother note from Welcome Back Kotter...

Lmao! I totally remember Juan Epstein, the Puerto Rican Jew, reading a note supposedly from his mom and then him saying, "signed, Epstein's mother."  Thanks for bringing back that memory!

It's been McD's motto since he arrived.

Now entering his 3rd year, it seems all the players have bought into his "culture" philosophy.

McD has his trusted leaders that run the locker room, and they are very familiar with his message.  It's been engrained in their brains and the team has pretty much filtered out any player who doesn't subscribe to it.

Is McD's "culture" strong enough where....if we signed a player like Kareem Hunt or AB, that the locker room would be strong enough to handle the drama and outside noise to a point where it wouldn't affect the team?

Kareem already signed with the Browns so he's off the table.

I’m not sure he isn’t. Guy wanted to get paid and the Steelers couldn’t come to an agreement with him. Look at what happened to Earl thomas. Bell probably took the correct route. I would sign him in a second. I hope Beane would also allow his talent to outweigh the fact that he held out for a contract.

I hope the same; just not sure McBeane will see it the same way. As an armchair GM, without blinking an eye I would spend a third of our available cap space just on Le'Veon and either Paradis/Morse alone because they are elite at their positions. That would give you a ton of flexibility going into the draft: 1st rounder on BPA (probably a defensive player) and the rest of the draft to fill other holes: TE, G, RT, WR. Even if McBeane sees things as we do, would Le'Veon choose us over Indy or other options with more established QBs? It's going to be a VERY interesting off-season.

It’s frustrating the lack of elite offensive weapons going into this FA and draft as we are finally in a good team and cap space to execute.

I would call Le'Veon Bell elite without any question. He's also a position of huge need: a top 2-3 RB who is also an outstanding WR coming out of the backfield, just what Josh could use. Problem: Is he a "process" guy?

I’m a fan of getting the kid from UB.

I know they are playing lights out right now and mostly because of him. But where is he expected to go? I highly doubt a kid from UB in the MAC is getting drafted as early as round 3-5 no matter what he does.

And yes, don’t bother reminding me about Mack. And yes, I already know the WR Johnson is slated to go in the first few rounds as well.

Think again. A guy by the name of Big Ben Roethlisberger (Miami Ohio) was drafted in the 1st round (#11 overall) in the 2004 draft. Last time I looked, Miami (Ohio) was in the MAC.

Packers are a glaring example of a team with an incredible QB and very little depth around him. Ravens spent so much on Flacco couldn't afford talent around him. Stafford has always had a weak defense because they don't have the money for it. Patriots keep dumping talent and having to reload because of Brady and Gronk salaries.

Incorrect on the Cheatriots. Brady has made that 18 year dynasty possible on cap friendly contracts. Gronk is arguably (from a statistical perspective) the greatest TE to ever play the game. Until just this year, he was not a top 3 paid TE in the NFL.

  13. This Sunday won't be my first visit to see my beloved Bills in Orchard Park but I have never been to Hammer's lot and have always wanted to check out Pinto Ron's set-up, how he cooks up delicious food in old Ford Pinto mufflers, etc. I've also heard that Pancho Billa will be there for the home opener. I have always parked on Abbot road on the lawn of a private residence. Where exactly is the Hammer lot? Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Whaley was awful.  He was only the most recent in  a string of truly horrible GMs.  Beane inherited a complete mess. Given how late he was hired last year, there was not more for him to do than assess the team.   He made the judgment the team wasn't never going far with Taylor at QB ( a judgement any sane human could make) .  He made similar evaluations of everyone on the team. His ultimate conclusion was for better or worse that there was nothing to build around.  A couple of old guys in Kyle Williams and LeSean McCoy that are fan favorites who are too old be be part of a long term future. And after that: nothing.  So he decided to come up with the strategy of  clearing the deck for 2019 and starting from scratch.  The only two players on the roster who matter at this point are Edmunds and Allen.  Everyone else will be replaced with a draft pick or a free agent pickup from next years 90 million of cap space.   The over all vision makes sense.

The thing that is most distressing is that his cronyism with guys like Benjamin and Star L.  call his judgement into question.  If 2019 is a playoff year, then the strategy  made sense.  If it is some sort of babystep from an abysmal 2018 to a slightly better 2019, then It is 95% likely he is just the latest clown in the Bills GM clown show.

Edmunds and Allen, yes but please, please don't call Tre' davious chopped liver. That boy Tre day can play. And dance too. That dude is a keeper. Those 3 guys are our future. Period.

Got to see the Devils-Sabres prospect game (Sabres won 6-4) and Rasmus Dahlin scored 2 goals, had one assist, one booming hit and controlled the game when he was on the ice.

Bring 60 got to watch Bobby Orr growing up and I swear I see some of the skills Orr had in Dahlin.

I'm about your age and am shuffling off to Buffalo October 6/7 weekend with my daughter to see a Sabres-Rangers Saturday night game followed by Bills-Titans Sunday game. I've been flying into Buffalo for Bills' games for several years but this will be my first double-header weekend. So, so stoked to see Dahlin!
