I thought he hung them up because teams wanted him to actually play football for all that money, and that wasn’t really his thing......

Breaking news: Vontae Davis to un-retire. Feels his body is finally healed and ready to come back after the first half.  I kid.

Seems to me Foster is far more likely to be cut than Jones.

Unfortunately, this seems painfully too clear to me at this point. I don't claim to have any special insight on Foster's status with this coaching staff but his total lack of production this preseason makes me wonder how much the Alabama UDFA wants to be here. With the highlight reel Foster put together last year (along with the 20 yards per reception average which put him in elite company), he knows that if cut, he will be immediately scooped up by another team. So it's not like last year when being released and then placed on the practice squad were a wake-up call for him and his NFL future. This time around, Foster will have other options and he knows that. Sadly I think he's as good as gone.

    Two words - Darryl Johnson

This. So, so impressed with this 7th round diamond in the rough the first two preseason games. We just may have struck gold twice in the 7th round this draft: DJ and Tommy Sweeney.

It's funny how things can be seen from different perspectives.

The way I seen it was Oliver looked embarrassed having jumped off sides and Shaq even patted his head giving some sympathy.

The segment was used to show how McDermott uses moments like this (even with the first round rookie) to teach.

It was a good Head Coach move in my book.

Does anyone really think they used this segment of film for any other reason?  This moment could of easily been left on the editing floor instead

it was "purposely" inserted.  Oliver has some edge to him but the vets and McDermott will show him the way.

I thought the whole 4 segments were good and did what they intended to do, I'm beginning to get excited for the season.

Really well reasoned, Colorado. When I first watched it, my gut reaction was: "Uh oh, shades of Jacket-gate". Your logic however is flawless. If the Bills brass had been embarassed by this and saws it as a red flag, NO WAY in hell does this scene make the final (editing) cut.

"Gaining a non-relocation agreement, which included a $400 million penalty "bomb" if the team were to move, was a sticking point. Instead of that agreement, the team wanted lease language in which the Bills promised to reimburse the state and county stadium for renovation costs if the team moved."

I'd say it was a little of both, since the Bills' proposal would have included a $210M relocation penalty.

So, in the original quote, it cites the $400 Billion ("B" as in Bills) and in the next paragraph $400 Million ("M" as in Matt Milano). Quite a difference. I haven't read the book but I can't imagine Ralph EVER would have agreed to a $400 BILLION non-relocation penalty. On the other hand, $400 Million doesn't seem like that much at all if you're a multi-billionaire. If you're an immensely wealthy businessman and the team would be worth 3-4 times its value in WNY if it were relocated to LosAngeles, for example, $400 Million would seem like peanuts, no?

Josh Allen doesn't have to be Tom Brady or Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers.  He just needs to be solid NFL quarterback who can manage a game and pull out a game winning drive from time to time when the chips are down.  Put a QB like that along side our defense and a decent run game and we are going to be contending for championships.

Having said that, I would love to make a trip to Canton in twelve years to listen to Josh Allen's induction speech...

Inigo, that would mean that Josh's career only lasted 7 years (plus the 5 year wait for the first ballot Hall of Fame.) Now granted, he would have to be mighty spectacular in those 7 years to be inducted after such a short playing career but I would prefer to see him inducted in more like 20 years.

Look, I like Metcalf as well, but I am not trading up from 40 to get him or anyone else.  The board fell about as perfectly for the Bills as it could have last night and there are some top talents still sitting there and there will be an awesome option at 40.  If that is Metcalf, fine.  If he's not there, I'm good with that.  In my opinion, Hakeem Butler has a chance to be the best WR in the draft, as does Brown, Metcalf, or any of the other WRs still on the board.  There isn't an overwhelming consensus top guy in this draft, so sit tight and let it come to you.

And the Bills may decide to go in an entirely different direction as well.  They could get a great guard in Risner, a really nice CB in Murphy, or a OT that could have been a top 10 pick in Taylor.  The point is, there is so much great talent left that there is no reason to move up.  I would rather sit at 40 and take the BPA and then work on getting back into the 2nd round to take another one fepending on how the board is falling and the compensation required to do so.  I'm a big fan of Jace Sternberger.  He's the TE I want.  So, if you can come away with him and one of the other guys I have mentioned, that is a great draft.  Can't wait for tonight!

Sven is right. Imagine if the Bills had traded up to #3 overall to assure themselves Ed Oliver or Quinnen Williams. We would have been happy in the moment but likely without our 2nd and 3rd rounder and perhaps without some 2020 draft asset. Patience is a virtue. There will be an excellent football player at #40 whether it's DK or someone else. Stay put.

Burns at 9 would feel like us the years we took Maybin/Whitner.  If we traded down or traded back into the 1st to grab Burns in the late teens I'd think it was a good move though.  Just not at 9 please

This. Burns physically is a reincarnation of Maybin. Can you think of any comparable NFL pass rusher who has been highly successful with Burns'/Maybin's physique? Me neither. I'll go further. I don't want him at #9 overall or in the 2nd or 3rd round either even were he to slide because I don't believe his body will hold up against NFL offensive linemen. Why waste a day 1 or 2 draft pick on the dude?

My undying hatred for the player has never wavered. He is, without question, the worst player to ever put on a Bills uniform. Some people will say “that’s harsh” or “not true” but he is statistically the worst player to ever play the most important position in the game. He’s the worst, 2nd worst is up for debate...

So you're saying there's a chance Peterman becomes a franchise QB at some point for some NFL team?  Gotcha.

Yes he is. Zay had a fluky 7 TDs but even in his best games, see at Miami, he had critical drops. I was always baffled by a trade up in the draft for a receiver with no outstanding qualities and his best quality in college, his hands, are even suspect.

I totally agree with this. I guess his best "quality" in college was his phenomenal production (399 receptions is crazy) albeit at a smaller college program. But yeah, the trade up still made no sense whatsoever.

I'd really like to see the Bills break their mold and go with the stud pass rusher. Hughes isn't the prototypical size they look for at DE but they were forced into it and it's worked out great. The front 4 has to get home. I'm not expecting it either but If they draft Burns I'll be ecstatic.

With all due respect, I don't think that's a fair analogy. Hughes may not be the prototypical DE size but if you compare Brian Burns and Jerry Hughes side by side, Hughes has tree trunks for thighs; Brian Burns physique resembles Aaron Maybin. That scares me, at pick #9 or even #40. I'm not paid to evaluate these guys so if McBeane love the guy, go ahead. I see a guy who gets pancaked just like Maybin did at the NFL level.
