Keon Coleman success by route - Not prettyNorcalbillsfan replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall I've always thought beane intended for him to be a high up side bigger more athletic Gabe Davis role with red zone jump ball skills. Not when they wanted Gabe to be a #2 but when he was more of a #3 and made big sideline catches on scrambles and roll outs. But unfortunately keon hasn't looked great in any of the things he did well in college.

People forget just how many times his rush lanes and undisciplined sellout pass rushes cost us massive plays that lost several games. I think von is probably a good teammate in the locker room but his play style since his injury was and still is extremely selfish on a team that was so close to getting a one seed. He was all about his sack stats, knowing full well the cost for the team of taking egregious angles and losing contain. Obviously im not saying hes the sole reason we lost those games but ill never forget watching him sellout several times to get Jalen hurts and with his angle ended up 4 yards behind hurts and hurts lightly jogging to pick up huge 1st downs to keep drives alive. Bosa definitely sells out for pass rush pretty often but you will see him hesitate and string out rbs to the sideline occasionally, von never did that, or at least never put in 100% effort to do it.

They also lost i think 2 starting O lineman heading into the SB againt the bucs and mahomes got destroyed that entire game. But overall theres so much luck involved getting to a SB and the chiefs for the most part have had pretty great luck with health in the post seasons and the bills have had impressively bad health going into the post season.

Joe B (The Athletic) on passing game problems (with data)Norcalbillsfan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall No jones or Oliver on the D alone makes things difficult on the bills against the Chiefs and now with the passing game sputtering its a bad recipe. Spags will not allow cook to do what he did to the panthers. I would imagine the chiefs will sell out on stopping the run and challenge the recievers to win 1 on 1. Unfortunately the identity the bills currently have favors the chiefs. If the chiefs can slow down cook early and score quickly on the slower and depleted secondary of the bills it could get out of hand. Unless the offense finds a rhythm between now and then I think things will fall heavily on the bills edge rush getting to mahomes and hairston being able to play the entire game. With white just not having the physical abilities he used too and giving wrs massive cushion against andy Reid and mahomes doesn't seem like its even an option at this point.

Jags listening to trade calls for Brian ThomasNorcalbillsfan replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall I wouldn't be shocked if Thomas wants out because of Lawrence. Lawernce looked pretty awful the past few seasons, and has looked really bad targeting Thomas this year. Mac jones and Thomas were on the same page and dominated last year. But now Thomas probably realizes hes stuck with Lawrence for at least the rest of his rookie contract cuz they paid Lawrence. I wouldn't mind this trade but I doubt a late first from buffalo gets it done, especially from an AFC opponent. If he does get traded its probably at least a mid first to an NFC team.

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?Norcalbillsfan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall I was thinking this exact thing haha. Theres been alot of talking about if beane can swallow his pride after his rant on wgr, I think he can use the palmer injury to cushion his pride

I wasn't a big fan of the pick and I've been pretty critical of beanes choices and picks as of late. But I can see the vision im assuming beane had. Replace the Gabe Davis role with a more athletic yac guy that can do 50/50 balls. Is that for sure what beane was thinking? We may never know. I disagree with it but I can understand the vision if it was. So I think theres a multitude of things at play with keon, he hasn't shown much growth and theres obviously some maturity issues still there but many of the issues with him are not his fault imo. Beane asked Gabe to be a #2, hes not that, he never showed the ability to be that, not his fault. Beane is asking keon to be a wr1B/wr2 with out a dominant wr1 alpha that demands doubles and takes attention away from keon, hes not that, not his fault. Beane brought him into a situation thats not nearly the type of offense he could thrive in. Keon would thrive in an offense where teams have thier eyes or dt on the alpha and all of a sudden keon is on a slant route vs a LB or cb2 and torches you for 30 yards with yac, he could be dangerous wr2. But that won't happen in buffalo, that isn't thier identity (unless a trade). I think another key piece was what Gabe was highly successful at, the play breaks down josh allen rolls to his right, gabe works his way to josh, finds some space near the sideline and josh hits Gabe for 20. Defenses are doing everything they can to not allow josh to roll to his right this season and it seems to be working. And if keon is the Gabe replacement, defenses have done a good job of taking that away. I would absolutely love to be proven completely wrong and keon become an alpha but I dont think it will happen and i think its unfair for beane to ask him to be something he hasn't shown to be.

two Player that can really change the BillsNorcalbillsfan replied to dbfla10's topic in The Stadium Wall Ya as a team that is notoriously injured going into playoff losses, beanes big move bringing in one of the most injured wrs of the past few years might not be a great recipe, but im willing to see any wr trade happen at this point.

Bills’ greatest needs heading into the trade deadline?Norcalbillsfan replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall I'd give our 1st for olave, because its hopefully a late or god willing the last pick. And a talent that olave was coming into the draft would never make it to the end of the 1st. Its a gamble because his injury history. But the talent is clearly there and he hasn't had quality QB play yet. Josh Allen is 29, its time to do another diggs type of trade.

Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvementNorcalbillsfan replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall I give alot of blame to beane and his roster construction over the past few years, but I'll admit its not his fault that Rapps play fell off a cliff out of no where. Its not often a gm has to pivot because your most willing tackler on your defense goes to one of the worst in the league for some unknown reason.

Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvementNorcalbillsfan replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Its crazy how few bills analyst actually watch the all 22 and make assessments off of facts. Guys like Dan fetes will say things like groot is invisible and hasnt done anything, id take post acl von over bosa, or the salary cap isn't real go get a wr1 and still have a platform to interview guys like beane.
-
Absolutely, but its still on the gm to hire people to evaluate talent and make the ultimate decision on draft picks and signings. Watching hard knocks over the years you can tell the coaches have say, but at the end it 100% on the gm to make the pick or signing, they are putting thier name on that decision. Beane cant make a bad pick like elam and say "well mcD liked him so i picked him" its still on beane. With some FA signings im sure the coaches have alot more say especially if they coached that player (Thompson), but the buck always stops at the gm.

Not to mention at a time when the bills were nearing the gap with the chiefs, a guy named creed Humphries who every draft analyst thought for sure was going to the bills, beane takes boogie. And gives the already SB caliber chiefs a top 5 center on a rookie deal. And the bills light that pick on fire. You let the chiefs jump you and take mcduffie, and we get Elam. You TRADE with chiefs and they get worthy, we get keon. While your issue at wr was seperation you take keon who has ZERO seperation in college and leave ladd on the board. I've been pounding the table for years now, the problem isnt mcD. He isn't an elite coach but hes a good enough coach thats been given a team full of jags outside of allen and maybe 3 other great players. Other than the 13 second debacle, the bills haven't had coaching issues its been a talent acquisition issue.

I was at the saints game 7 rows up, after josh had that big run, he looked at the bills sideline and screamed "let's ***** go" but I noticed it wasn't his normal celebration yell, it was more of an angry "do something" yell at his team. I cant remember josh doing that before, it made me wonder how he feels about his team so far this year.

Roster Support over the past three years (Beane)Norcalbillsfan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall I also think the issue is josh wants keon to be a thing so bad. People forget he told beane he liked keon and wanted him in the draft. I won't say the book is written but josh has given him a ton of back shoulder and red zone jump balls, what keon is supposed to be elite at and it hasn't produced much at all.

Roster Support over the past three years (Beane)Norcalbillsfan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall As long as im allowed to talk about the bills drafting boogie over Humphries pick being the best thing to happen to the chiefs since drafting mahomes.

10/13/2025 Bills at Falcons - 2nd half game threadNorcalbillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Lol olave isn't getting a 1st in fantasy. But yes olave can 100% get a late 1st from a SB hopeful team like the Bills or chiefs (if he continues to stay healthy).

10/13/2025 Bills at Falcons - 2nd half game threadNorcalbillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall A bills first round is essentially a late 1st, probably not enough to get a young talented receiver like olave (many articles including espn saying it will take a first). Granted health is an issue but he was an elite talent out of college thats had bad qb play.

Roster Support over the past three years (Beane)Norcalbillsfan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Finally, we are having this conversation
-
Respectfully disagree, I know its annoying we all grab pitch forks every time we lose. And I kniw josh did not play well no doubt. But when you have 3 different game analysts comment on the lack of seperation live during the game without watching the all 22, theres a probably a problem. Its been a talked about problem for awhile, but when a TE and the former chargers wr3 go down and it derails your passing offense with a generational qb, you should ask talent acquisition questions.

10/13/2025 Bills at Falcons - 2nd half game threadNorcalbillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall But those resources given to mcD, none of them are chris jones or mcduffie, not even close. Again im not advocating that mcD is 100% not to blame at all, im saying maybe we should ask talent acquisition questions before we fire a "good not elite" nfl coach while keeping a gm that might hang his hat on 3-4 picks and signings in the allen era? Josh, brown, cook, diggs, and benford? And then count the misses in the allen era. Unfortunately the saints are functional, otherwise I would trade a 1st and more for olave
