  1. I already reported on this, but the Jets and Broncos are the front runners for the Cousins sweepstakes and at least from what I've heard the Jets are willing to back up the Brinks truck big time.

If Denver does land him though it will be interesting to see what happens in the draft since they were rumored to be targeting one of the top guys (Rosen/Darnold).

  2. According to my well placed source and the info I've already shared, Bills have already begun the process of trying to trade him and hoping to get as high as 4th rounder for him. If not he'll be cut.

But based on the chatter I'm hearing, I even the most die hard TT fans are going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize there isn't going to be much demand or market for him for reasons most of us already know. But hopefully a desperate team steps up and makes a move for him. What might complicate things though is TT refusing to take lesser money to facilitate a trade in the first place.

This is actually a really good point. The one thing breaking the streak gave Beane and McDermott is tremendous security. Not just with the Pegula's but the fans. Granted, that can dissipate quickly in professional sports but if McBeane can't get the QB they want and they look at this team and don't see a contender, they could wipe the slate clean without having to worry about being on the hot seat. It's actually a rare opportunity.

Of all the players I mentioned, only Davis, Ducasse, Dimarco and Holmes were brought in by McBeane. Ducasse and Dimarco were brought in for Dennison's crappy scheme and Holmes was a disappointment. I only see Davis as being relatively safe.

I still don't believe Beane/McD thought they were a playoff team last year, but because they did sneak in it obviously changes things so if they end up truly being terrible in 2018 because of having a young roster it won't look as bad because of last season when everybody also thought they were a 3 or 4 win type of team.

So this would be the main reason for them to truly burn it down in 2018 (and yes go with NP as the starter) if they don't care where they finish and then expect a major step forward in 2019 with a bunch of 2nd year players and possibly a top 5 draft pick to land a QB.

We'll see what happens but all fans should temper their expectations that this team is primed to make a big slash in the offseason and be a SB contender this season.

  4. Taylor and Glenn aren't going to be on the 2018 roster, it's just a question of how and when they are cut/traded and that will help the salary cap situation immensely.

I was leaning to Incognito being cut but I think now that the racial slur allegations are cleared up and Wood leaving he'll be definitely be back.

The only other wildcards are Hughes and McCoy but I think both will be back unless this team truly plans on gutting the roster and 2018 is the true 'tank' season. But anything is certainly possible especially since this regime made the playoffs last year and don't have that pressure on their backs going forward.

  5. This was a pretty stupid move by Washington.

It's not that Smith is a bad QB because he's not, but for what they gave up and what they will be paying him you really have to question why they wouldn't make a better attempt to keep their own franchise QB who isn't light years ahead of Smith anyway talent wise.

Also wondering if this helps with Taylor's trade value assuming there is a team out there that truly wants him as a potential starter. If so perhaps we can get more than a 6th or 7th rounder but guessing he'd also have to negotiate a new contract as part of any trade.

First off, I don't think that starting him at an away game was the best decision, Plus, he got no help from the offensive line. On at least a couple of the interceptions he was hit as he was releasing the ball.

Peterman was clearly brought in because Taylor wasn't throwing the ball downfield. Consequently he overcompensated and should have the eaten the ball in a couple of cases where he tried to make plays.

I'll reserve judgment on Peterman until the Bills strengthen the offensive line.

No and thankfully Beane and McD are smart enough to understand that you can't judge a 5th round rookie, or any rookie, based on one bad outing especially since it came against a top defense and one of the best DB's in the NFL on the road.

Also NP acquitted himself well in the Colts game (that we don't win without him starting) and other mop up duty. I think what was truly impressive is how he played against the Jags playoff game given the circumstances.

The future is very bright for NP and I've heard he's already hitting the offseason workout regime hard and looking forward to competing for the starting job next year. Expect big things from him this summer.

Every move McDermott has made that left you scratching your head (with one glaring exception) has worked out. So I'm at the point that I trust him to do what's right for our team, no matter how strange it looks from the outside. Trading Sammy and Darby during camp sure did, but it worked out.

The only right move he made last year was benching TT for NP. However then he made another stupid move by not keeping NP as the starter the rest of the season and going back to TT.

so now the coach is a clown?

    you're an idiot.

The jury is still out on McD and I really don't care if he go lucky with the Bills backing into the playoffs because of a hail mary from Andy Dalton.

And it's very telling that he's making all these sudden coaching changes. Obviously trying to surround himself with spineless jellyfish that won't question 'the process'.

Can anyone explain just why Byrd got the bullet in the first place? This is where the debate needs to begin. Because just about anyone else could be due for the boot, if it's performance related.

I had hoped we'd seen the back of the cronyism when Ryan went, but it appears as though that isn't the case.

While we obviously aren't a part of the practises etc., I think it's fair to say that a straw poll of fans, would have Castillo top of a list of any Bills coach that should be fired.

I'd also question if the Waufle retirement is in any way related to Byrd being fired.

'Trust the process', well at least so long as it suits.

From what I've heard about McD, he's easily intimidated by other defensive minds that challenge him and advise on other ways of doing things. So this is probably why he's dumping all the good position coaches and replacing them with yes men types.

Either way nobody can defend this clown for dumping Byrd considering the success this secondary had last year especially with Poyer and Hyde having career seasons under him.

There's a decent amount of chatter here in NYC that Barkley is truly the guy the Giants want. At first, I thought that'd be crazy because they need a future qb, but then I thought about it a little. Eli really isn't that bad at all at present, and physically, he hasn't declined as far as I can tell (I see a lot of Giants games). Last season they had a horrible running game (and a bad stable of RBs), a bad o-line, and a hurt OBJ. OBJ will be back next season and presumably fine, they are going to target o-line in FA, and Barkley really is that good. What separates him from the typical talented RB (e.g., AP) is that he has Leveon Bell and Shady-like ability in the passing game. He's a massive asset to a passing game, and don't think that what Kamara did for the Saints offense this season has gone unnoticed.  And by most of the accounts I've seen, Barkley is the highest rated player in the entire draft.  In the right situation, Manning can easily be a 30-TD passer for the next couple of years. The talent is there on defense, and they are the one team in the league that I think has the capability to turn around their fortunes on a dime. They are and always have been a good organization.

My larger point is that the #2, #3 and #4 will not be QBs (assuming the Browns take a qb at #1). Trades will be available. The one wild card is that I could see the Browns taking Barkley at #1 and then taking a qb at #4.

I've also heard similar chatter, but my long island source who is entrenched in all things Jets and Giants say there is no way either of those teams pass on Rosen, Darnold, etc depending on whose available. And even though the Giants apparently plan on bringing Eli Manning back next year they would still want his replacement locked down.

Barkley is no doubt a special talent but I still have serious reservations about taking a RB in the top 5, or even first round for that matter nowadays.

Good lord, that guy HAS to be a fins fan - I've never seen anyone talk so glowingly about all of their moves as SP.

It was a great hire by a division rival which made adversely effect the Bills. Wouldn't be surprised if we tried to get Oden but Tannenbaum and Gase beat us to the punch.

Either way it still make zero sense this team jettinsoned Gil Byrd considering Hyde and Poyer had career years. You can also argue he's directly responsible for White's accelerated development as a rookie.

  12. Smith is going to be 34 in a couple of months. And even though most of the bigger name franchise QB's are still playing at a high level well into their mid/late 30's, not sure any team would be willing to give up much in a trade for Smith. I'm thinking a 4th rounder is best case.

But as for the Bills I still think that they are better off rolling with Peterman that trying to land Alex Smith or another bigger name type of veteran. We still need some sort of capable journeyman to back NP up but doubt Smith would want that since he can probably start on another next year.

He's a huge reason why the team set season ticket sales records and still managed to sell out most games during the drought. He's a wiz of a businessman but shoulda never been allowed near football ops.

    A couple of things:

    1) Selling Football in the city of Buffalo is like selling liquor to an alcoholic. In other words it's not a hard job and many lesser marketing types would have had the same success here the last 17 years.

    2) Despite what the fans and media are told, Russ Brandon still has his fingers all over this franchise (and the Sabres now too). I know this from a trusted source and it's not earth shattering anyway considering the Wilson's essentially gave him a share of the franchise  and made him a 'managing partner' before the team was sold. And it's very possible the Pegulas bought the team with some sort of similar arrangement made because they aren't that bright when it comes to owning pro sports franchises.
