It will be interesting to see how alot of draft picks turn out.

Beane is seen as a good gm and talent assessor generally but if Oliver, Ford, Edmunds and Allen all start panning out to be average or worse than people will need to start asking questions.

Honestly, I do wonder about the tactical deployment of a few of these guys.  For all listed (except for Allen), you could make an argument that the Bills aren't using them in optimal positions or in the correct manner.  Might not be misses per se... might just be not letting players play to their strengths.  Only time will tell I suppose.

When we drafted him I figured he’d have more of a presence with making plays in the backfield and getting to the QB.

He’s having a very quiet season.

I expected the same.  Based on what he brought in college.. I thought he would be living in the backfield and disrupting running plays and getting the occasional sack.  The Bills had said as much when they drafted him.. that he was effectively a Kyle Williams replacement.  Everyone remembers KW's play.. he would shoot through the line and get the STF or disrupt the play (or the other team would run right through the hole he created with his penetration).

To be honest, I don't know what would be worse.  The Bill's decision makers trying to turn him into a space eater like Lotulelei or Oliver just not having the ability to penetrate like he did in college.

Lets see does that have to do with the 40MPH Winds?

Why was Carson Wentz so efficient?  It's not like Allen was just chucking it up into the wind.  He throws a tight spiral and keeps it low for the most part.  Blaming it on the wind is copping out

  4. All of this "blame Daboll" stuff is laughable.  Has Dabolls play calling been perfect?  Not a chance.  But the real issue this past game was Josh's accuracy.  They weren't moving the chains like they have in the past, and a lot of that was on Josh just flat out missing throws.  He had the time.  Receivers were open.  But he just wasn't hitting them.  We know he can do better.  He just needs to execute.. that's all it comes down to imo

  5. Some owners might have personal vendettas against the guy due to their beliefs regarding his stances.  But I believe that, for most owners, it boils down to one MAJOR issue.  If you hire the guy to play quarterback, you are immediately alienating half your fan base.  From a pure business sense, it would be absolutely stupid to sign the guy to a contract.

    He's just too polarizing

  6. My initial reaction:  no, no effing way

However...if by go "all in" you mean trade a mid round pick for AJ Green or Trent Williams  .. I would definitely consider it if I was in Beane's place.  I doubt they can be had for that price, but you never know.  I wouldn't consider making a trade like that going "all in", but it would definitely put us into "win now" mode.  Anything higher than a 3rd is a hard no for me.  Even a 3rd I'm hesitant to trade.. look at how our two third round picks are doing this year (Knox and Singletary)!

  7. I don't think anyone is unhappy with McDermott at the moment.  Both him and Beane appear to have turned around a franchise that was in a pretty bad place after Rex Ryan's exit.  Beane's drafting has been excellent thus far and McD has done a great job of working with the players that he's been given.

I've gushed about the Bills' defense repeatedly in recent weeks, and the duo of McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier deserves tons of credit for molding a defense without big names into arguably the league's best.

Also, to say that Buffalo has no "big names" on the defense is unfair.  They aren't big names because they play in Buffalo.  Tre White has "star" written all over him, but he plays in Buffalo so there isn't as much recognition as there would be elsewhere

  8. I had no horse in the QB race that year, but I feel like any time a player is labeled a "project"... it's a huge red flag.  I mean think about it, labeling someone a project basically means that they aren't there yet.  You never know if they will actually get there or not.

I'm glad the Bills drafted Allen, but if I was in management I would not have had the balls to draft him knowing that he was a project.  Props to Beane for following through on what he felt was the right QB choice.  In retrospect, I think he made a great choice

  9. Good question!  It's still a bit early for this, but I would probably put them like this:

    1)  Mayfield

    tie for 2nd:  Jackson/Allen

    4)  Darnold

    5)  Rosen

    6)  Everyone else

Couple comments/thoughts:  -not worried about Mayfield (yet).  it was just one game and he has a whole year of playing pretty awesome.

-I think Darnold will end up being pretty good as well.  I'm not too sure about his ceiling, but I think his floor is pretty high.

-To date, there appears to only have been one bad choice for QB in the first round.. and that's Rosen.  But he still has plenty of time to change that perception.  He may not get the chance to in Miami though, they look so inept that no one would look good there.

-Everyone else (including Rudolph) is ranked down there because there isn't a big enough sample size.  We will, obviously, have a better idea of where Rudolph falls after this year.  I'm also curious about how Lauletta will fare, if he ever gets a chance.  He looked alright with the Giants in the preseason this year, was surprised to see him cut for the trick shot guy, Alex Tanney
