I thought S Houcshka (?) might make it, obviously dpends upon how this specific  FF rates kickers.

Knox might not even start.  With all the $ we wasted on Kroft & Lee Smith  wont be shocked if we go TE FA again.

Thought Singletary might be able to rank  higher.

On talent alone, I would agree.  But I think the fact that Allen ran the ball into the endzone in goal to go situations so much hurts his fantasy value pretty badly.  He put up a decent amount of yards when he was in, but didn't score a lot of touchdowns (only 2!).  Add in his injury and the fact that the Bills will likely pick up another RB

While I don't disagree with you, this is exactly what he has done in KC.  So for some reason he couldn't be a "role player" in Buffalo perhaps.

Accepting being a role player on a team that went 6-10 the previous year is much different than accepting being a role player on the team that went to the AFC championship the past year

I can’t be selfish. This is probably the first time I’ve ever been in a situation where it was like this is bigger than Shady McCoy.

The ego on this guy, jeez...

edit:  honestly, I enjoyed watching him when he was on the Bills.  But I'm kind of glad that he doesn't consider Buffalo his home or want to retire as a Bill.. because I don't think he would be a good representative of our area

Roman didn't run the entire offense in San Fran.  It was an offense by committee.  Harbaugh was also a good offensive mind and loved the power run game.  They had some other guy calling all the red zone plays too.  This is why they burned time outs and had the most delay of games in the league by far.  Their offensive play calls went through 3 people.

They ran a power run game with play action passing with Smith.  I wouldn't credit Roman with all of Smith's growth there.  I am sure part of  it but not all of it.  Kaepernick taking over was always part of the plan as they wanted to run the pistol offense.  Even Smith was fairly mobile btw.  Just not anywhere near Jackson, Kaep, or Taylor like.  Dude could still run the football though.

I'm not saying that he deserves all of the credit, but he definitely deserves some of it.  It just seems unfair to label him as someone who can't operate with a non-super-athletic QB, when his only stint with such a QB was actually pretty successful.

  6. I feel like people are pegging Roman as someone unable to OC with a non-mobile QB.  When he became OC for 49ers, he had Alex Smith as his QB.  Smith hadn't had any success and was much more turnover prone than he is now.  Roman came in and got some solid play out of Smith and the 49ers offense was decent and the team went 13-3 that year.  He started off well the next year with Alex Smith too, until Kaepernick took over.

  7. One bad drop that I can remember.  His hands, for the most part, seem to be pretty good.  A couple broken tackles.  Plus you have to love that competitive attitude.  Was nice to watch the Duke doing his thing.

The biggest knock against Duke has always been the separation thing ("he's too slow").  Either he was getting open today.. or the coaches specifically told Barkley to throw him the ball.

Clinching a playoff spot with 2 games remaining is truly uncharted territory for most Bills fans. This season has been amazing, it probably came a little earlier then people expected and it almost feels like we are playing with house money now. That being said, the AFC is wide open. I honestly feel like the Bills have a fighting chance against anyone and now the real fun begins. We now have  a chance to win some franchise changing games and advance in the playoffs.

This Defense is excellent. There is very little room for improvement and it would be selfish to ask for any more from them. They are the backbone of the team and have been single handily beating teams. Defense travels in the playoffs and our guys will give us a fighting chance against anyone in January.

The offense is a work in progress. They are streaky but seems to have a knack for pulling off big plays, at opportune times. We have a fearless, young, super athletic QB that the team rally’s behind, a few nice pieces at WR and a rising star in Singletary. The play calling can be frustrating at times but overall there are some nice things going on. The 1 major weakness right now, is the #2 RB.

Frank Gore is going to the hall of fame. He has been an excellent compiler of statistics and has been a top 10ish back for the majority of his career. It’s been very nice having Gore here to show Singletary the ropes and teach him how to be a professional. Gore doesn’t fumble so the Bills want to trust him in spots deep in their own end. The guy seems like an incredible teammate and a very good guy. There are a lot of wonderful things to say about Gore....The guy is completely done. It’s been obvious for weeks and it’s only getting worse. He has been in the league for so long, nobody could ever blame him for looking this way. Gore got passed Barry Sanders. He’s on the team, you don’t have to cut him, just stop playing him. The guy is killing our offensive rhythm and he’s destroying drives. It’s going to cost us a game. I’m not sure how anyone watching this team can disagree. The only guy that doesn’t see it, is Dabol. Every week I hope that Yeldon is active. I don’t even care if Yeldon gets the ball, you just need to find a way to keep Gore off the field. I don’t want to be so hard on the guy but he’s not even averaging 2 yards a carry in some of these games. The Bills have 2 weeks before the playoffs to try and find a capable complement to Singletary. Maybe that guy is on the roster, maybe he’s on a the street. The one thing the Bills seem to always find, are good running backs. Gores recent performance are unacceptable and in the playoffs you need to be at your absolute best. Identify the issue early when you have a chance to correct it and get firing on all cylinders when it counts the most. Don’t let the wins cover up the warts. Let’s take advantage of this great season and win playoff games. Go Bills!

I don't think that "Daboll doesn't see it", like you said OP.  Trust me, he watches the same games as us and I would wager that his football knowledge is greater than ours.  Frank Gore is playing ineffective football and Daboll 100% is aware of it.  There's a reason he's being kept in there.  Whether it is in deference to his legacy or Daboll just wants to have someone that can reliably not fumble the ball while eating clock.. I don't know.  But trust me, Daboll is absolutely aware of how ineffective he is and there's a reason he's on the game day roster/getting playing time.  I would assume in the playoffs, they will probably scale back his role

Fans wanted him fired, blamed all of Tyrod's failures on him (it's a common theme when the QB isn't executing or the team is losing), and Rex needed to fire someone to stay afloat.

He was a solid coordinator, we just didn't have the right QB to go with his offense.

I don't think you're giving the fan base enough credit here.  I'm pretty sure most people knew that he was just the scapegoat for the problems that the team (under Rex) was having

I don't remember the general thoughts on Roman when we brought him on. Too much discussion over Tyrod and Rex at the time. What I do remember was some of the "This is a passing league comments". I remember fans thinking Roman was past his time.

As we all know the league changes. Perhaps Roman was a bit past his time a few years ago, perhaps he was ahead of it? I think many coaches will look at what Baltimore is doing and say hey, I'm not going to try and find the Bill Walsh 1 in 50 QB anymore. Why should I? Who can I get that is an athletic passer/runner, develop an outstanding run game and stack the defense. If that's your model who has a better history of executing it than Roman? His level of success is rather absurd, perhaps constantly undervalued during an era where the running game was all but dead.

His two years here we finished in the top 15 in points scored. Last time we did that in two consecutive years was 1995 and 1996.

He was with the 49ers prior, 3 straight years they finished top 15 in points scored. Last time they accomplished that was 2001, 2002, and 2003. They also went to two NFC championships and one Super Bowl during that time.

Now with Baltimore, leading the league in points scored and certainly looking poised to go on a deep playoff run.

I always loved this guys offense. He has done some great things with Kaep and Taylor, and some down right stupid things with Lamar. Lamar is a rare talent, I understand that. But he didn't exactly fail with less.

I think the most telling fact is that Kaep and Taylor haven't been able to recreate their success without him.  The dude has put a lot of previously mediocre quarterbacks in a position to succeed.  What we're seeing with LJ now is him acquiring a real talent that matches up well with what he wants to do offensively.  It's a great match

The numbers back it up. I just did a bit of research. Brown already has his bye out of the way and is NUMBER ONE(8th in the nfl) in the conference in yardage! That has the potential to change tonight in what could be a shootout in mexico, with Kelce and Allen right behind him but even if they both pass him, Brown will third in the AFC and the 2nd highest wr!

I'll admit I underestimated what sort of wr brown was. I had expected 800-900 yds and some of his signature deep shots. he has shown he is a really well rounded wr at every level of the defense!

Maybe this didn't deserve its own thread, but I figured there were a lot of you that also didn't realize how high up the rankings he was and I figured i'd make sure it got recognized. Exciting stuff!

I was pretty disappointed when we lost out on him the previous year to Baltimore.  Glad we ended up getting him this time around.. he's a difference maker

Overall, I like his offensive concept—

spread it out, short passes, pass to set up the run. It’s probably the most exciting offense Conceptually we have had in 20 years.

i think we can all point to complaints with the specific play-calling on game day, but that’s also where the head coach can step in and basically tell him at a high level “we need to start running the ball more Here, etc.”

    Good post.

His offensive scheme seems pretty solid and he deserves credit for that.  I think the plays that he employs are suited well to our arsenal (i.e. the jet sweeps with guys like McKenzie, the designed runs for Allen, and the development of the short passing game in response to his issues with longer touch passes).  His issues, much like McDermott, stem from in game decision making and adjustment.
