You guys are in for a rude awakening if you think this qb change is gonna save this teams season.

Your def dreaming any world where you think petermen is better than Mahomes.

Im rootin for the rook but the OP needs to get real and stop ball washing.

Nathan Peterman can't save the season by himself, I certainly didn't suggest that. The defense has to get back on track and the team has to play with a renewed sense of them against the doubters. The run game has to click again most importantly perhaps though. If the ground game is working, the defense causes problems for QB's as it did early on, Peterman plays within himself, doesn't turn the ball over, then yes the Bills will have a very good shot at making the playoffs.  None of this is unfathomable.

I like the Bills chances with Peterman. Team just has to return to its old form, from this season and a season past.

    "Ball washing"? Come on.

Mahomes has the upside because he has a cannon arm no matter if he's throwing off his back foot or not. Outside of that, how is he head and shoulders better than Peterman?

  2. As to not jinx Nathan Peterman's future as Bills quarterback I will refrain from suggesting that he could possibly fill the role of a franchise QB unless it becomes painfully obvious, but I will express that I have a really good feeling that the Bills will be just fine with him at QB. He'll have his share of miscues, but the Bills offense will be just fine under him.

There was much debate as to who the Bills should draft this past April when it came to Deshaun Watson, Mitch Trubisky, Deshone Kizer, and Patrick Mahomes. Not so much when Nathan Peterman was talked about as a guy that should be a consideration. In fact, I can only remember a handful of Bills' fans that expressed support for the drafting of Peterman leading up to the draft.

I think after this season the odds of the Bills drafting a QB in the 1st round will be just as unlikely as it was this past NFL Draft with inspired play from Nathan Peterman.

Deshaun Watson and Mitch Trubisky were locks to go top 10 but the odds of them slipping down the draft boards were unlikely, so I began to consider the Bills other potential options.

I had one wish, it was that the Bills didn't do anything drastic and select Patrick Mahomes with their 10th overall pick. The irony, the Chiefs, the Bills trading partners would turn around and use that acquired pick to draft Patrick Mahomes. Problem off of my hands personally, because personally, I didn't want the Bills to draft Mahomes in any round.

My other one wish: That the Bills would say, "to hell with what the draft experts and critics think/will say" and draft Nathan Peterman in the 2nd rd. I really believed in what he brought to the table and could be a welcomed surprise. So why not draft high and get your man?  Of course he got drafted much later, but things still worked out.

What I saw that had me rate Peterman over Mahomes was a silent leader with accuracy, very good pocket presence, and the ability to go through progressions to find and get the ball to the open man. All qualities that translated well to the NFL for even a rookie QB in my opinion.

Still yet to be seen, but I feel when teams start to key in on what a starting Mahomes does well and  figure out what makes him uncomfortable and out of character as a QB, is when my doubts concerning his flaws becomes evident and that Peterman is the more polished, better overall NFL QB.

Read a piece on the Bills official website a few days ago where Micah Hyde gave Peterman the moniker of "Nate Favre" because he sees him as the gunslinging QB that Brett Favre was, oddly enough there were plenty of Favre comparisons when it came to Mahomes . Fair enough, because I was also reminded of Brett Favre when watching Mahomes' Texas Tech highlights, just the uninspired, far less enthusaistic version of him.

I thought of Peterman as a very good veteran backup QB who could step in and take over in the event that Tyrod Taylor's play faltered this season and Sean McDermott sounds as though he believes a 5th rd rookie QB  in Peterman has more polish and poise than you'd expect from a rookie QB just as I believed.  Only difference is that this "very good veteran backup QB" will only be 23 years of age upon being handed the reins. So with room to grow and weapons being added around him (weapons which he lacked as a Pittsburgh Panther), who knows how far the Bills can go with him.

Only time will tell who the bigger draft-day trade winner was, but with admirable performances during this tough stretch of games, the Bills brass goes from desparate-looking to looking that much smarter on many fronts.

    The Peterman Effect:

    1. ) Possible rejuvenated defensive effort. (Players may feel their defensive effort won't be wasted  with improved offensive output and continue to grind).

2.) Will affect the run game positively if teams don't feel they can follow the Jets' Thursday Night bleuprint on stopping the Bills with better passing production.

3.) Zay Jones finally gets on track. I believe Peterman and Jones have a good rapport. Remember the Senior Bowl hookups.

4.) Nick O'Leary's value as a pass-catching receiver goes up. Peterman and O'Leary seem to have good chemistry.

5.) Big plays downfield. Peterman throws a very good and accurate deep pass more times than not.

6.) The offensive line doesn't look nearly as woeful. Peterman is decisive, finds the open man, and throws with good accuracy. Think Fitzpatrick's low sack % due to his decisiveness.

A reporter asked a question about the cheering coming from fans when Nate Peterman came in, Tyrod Taylor said he dose not pay attention to the fans. Hey Tyrod Don't let the door hit you in the @ss on the way out.... You suck..

Oh shut up...you're just getting bold because you finally got a glimpse of a rookie QB that you likely didn't even care for to be drafted.

Benjamin, Matthews and Zay are all possession receivers, even though Benjamin is a level above them. We don't need three of them. Two will suffice. We need a speed demon playmaker type to complement Benjamin and Zay.

Call me crazy, but Jones seems a lot faster than people give him credit for.

Seems sort of like when people fail to recognize a QB's arm strength because he doesn't have a cannon arm and is undersized.

  6. Could someone fill me in on what happened on the Bills first drive out of halftime. I fell asleep and missed the first five minutes, woke to the Jets having the ball deep in Bills territory with roughly 10 minutes in the third. I thought initially that the Bills turned the ball over and helped set them up with that position.

Was really surprised that the Bills didn't come out of the break to score even a game-tying field goal.

    Can someone clue me in?

  7. RB J. Ajayi has been a real thorn in the Bills' side in the past. Now that he has been traded I think Miami becomes a much weaker team and one that I expect the Bills to beat not once but TWICE this year.

Throw in the hapless, Luck-less Colts and that's likely three wins for the Bills down the road.

I think the Bills' remaining schedule plays out as follows and Bills finish at 10-6 as a minimum:

    @ Jets - W

    home vs Saints - L

    @ Chargers - W

    @Chiefs - L

    home vs Pats - L

    home vs Colts - W

    home vs Dolphins - W

    @ Pats - L

    @ Dolphins - W.

BTW, word is the Bills are going after Colts WR Moncrief rather than WR TY Hilton.

    Your thoughts??

    Two words: Calm. Down.

not sure why a global perspective is needed. America is far from cured of it's racist passed. In fact the current climate as brought what was once hidden out to into the light and frightingly so

and Alex Smith is a better game manager. This country has always struggled with racism and bias but lumping Taylor into the discussion does a massive injustice to the real issues

really ? Fitz threw over 25 tds twice and FItz wasn't any good either. Taylor is simply not a good qb.

he is not a good nfl qb. not even close. he is basically an athlete playing qb. Just as teabow was. Yes Taylor has a better arm but he doesn't do enough with it to translate into effective qb play

Yeah and he had the interceptions to go with them to negated much of that production. The Bills can make the playoffs with a winning record under Taylor.

A few more stats you left out by mistake...

    Sack Percentage:

    11. Bortles - 5.6

    14. Flacco - 6.1

    20. Hoyer - 7.2

    32. Taylor - 11.7

    Passing yards per game:

    24. Hoyer - 207.5

    28. Taylor - 182.0

    29. Bortles - 178.0

    32. Flacco - 167.2

    Touchdowns:

    T14. Bortles - 8

    T23. Taylor - 6

    T27. Flacco - 4

    T27. Hoyer - 4

I remember you from the BBMB, don't know if you remember my write-up on how the Bills should consider drafting Nathan Peterman. In it I stated many things that I felt Peterman was better at now than Taylor. His accuracy being one, followed by his pocket poise, and ability to go through his progressions. I want Peterman to get his chance but only under the right circumstances, injury or complete falloff in production by the offense, because despite the things Taylor struggles at ---including his tendency to take the sack---he's still reliable. Not perfect, but reliable and capable of doing enough to win games.

As far as passing yards, his Y/A is higher than Hoyer's so he'd have more yards if he passed as often.

Blake Bortles threw 4 of those 8 TDs in a game, that as far as I'm concerned, is fixed to promote the game globally. I've held to this belief ever since the Bills-Jags London game from a few years back.

That's really been Bortles only good game this season.

  10. What are fans saying about Flacco, Bortles, and Hoyer this morning ?

    And here we go...

Flacco since 2015, the year Taylor took over for Buffalo, has a record of 14-18 and has thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns this season. So Ravens fans' are probably saying "Flacco is regressing and is at the end of the road".

Bortles has never completed 60% of his passes since being drafted and has a losing career record. So Jaguars fans' are probably saying "If our 1st rd 3rd overall pick of Qb screws our season up because he can't hit his receivers 60% percent of the time he throws, I swear at season's end he's gator bait".

You could already see from the Seniors Bowl that the 9'ers probably had something good in CJ Beathard. Hoyer is completing under 60% too. So 49ers fans' are probably singing The Hallelujah Song with the switch at Qb from "Brian "Journeyman" Hoyer.

Tyrod Taylor has the higher Qb Rating of them all easily and the lower int% of them all this season.

    6tds to 2 ints.

43 tds passing to 14 ints as of now for his career in Buffalo.

More importantly has Buffalo positioned to reclaim the top spot in the division with a win.

The fact that you just attempted to somehow group Taylor with these three Qb's who are struggling mightily for their respective teams, speaks to Taylor's point.

  11.

I'm not going to pretend that racism doesn't exist because obviously it does. Like Chris Rock said, "America to black people is the uncle that paid for your college education...but molested you when you were growing up." To deny the mistreatment of minorities in the US is to be delusional.

However, in this specific instance, I simply don't agree with Tyrod. I think he's making excuses for his poor play and thinking he's beyond criticism and the only reason he's hearing criticism must have something to do with factors that don't have to do with his play on the field.

And I also don't appreciate your generalizations. Isn't judging individuals based on the perception of the race as a whole the backbone of racism and prejudice to begin with? If you're against racism, then why would you be making such statements as "white people are very much a race-conscious people." Can we stop with the sweeping statements?

Would saying "Many white people of America are very race-conscious" make it more an accurate statement?

From what I read Taylor took blame for the parts of his play that he was fairly criticized for and was merely pointing out that there's less room for error, heightened scrutiny, and that being a black Qb factors in to how he is judged and the amount of leeway granted to him by the media and perhaps fans.

  12. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/10/14/bills-tyrod-taylor-believes-hes-held-to-a-higher-standard-because-hes-african-american/

Last year it was the media's fault when he sucked. Now he's being held to higher standard because he's black ?

He almost makes as many excuses as the fanatical taylorheads here. Try not being at the bottom of qb ranking lists. Leave the race nonsense alone.

"Haters" disappear when you're actually good at your craft like Cam, Jameis, Watson, and Wilson.

    Taylor is right.

You're trying to be slick by naming other more heralded black Qb's with better stats. Same thing applies to those Qb's also. The second they started to slip in production you'd flip on them too because race is always in the back of people's minds' in America because that's the way many white Americans who are the dominant people in America numbers-wise think.

America was built on the notion of racial inferiority and superiority; so why do people---especially white American people---pretend so much like this notion of racism still existing is a myth?

Or worst yet, that it only exists because black people keep 'giving life' to it by mentioning it.

White people are very much a race-conscious people.

    What's the point in pretending?
