It genuinely feels weird to leave Kyle Williams off the drought team, just because he made it to the playoffs 1 out of his 13 seasons.
But that aside, I think the current Bills win just because better QB + better coaching staff, but if you removed even just McDermott & Brady, the drought team wins.
The drought team's defense was good enough in individual seasons to hold prime Peyton Manning & Aaron Rodgers down, so I think they'd create a ton of pressure.

Imagine being those kids & having this opportunity taken away from you. That's what I feel is lost on this.
You're already growing up in a low income area, probably struggling with plenty of things that no child should have to deal with, then along comes a former NFL player trying to give you a better opportunity & provide your team with resources that you'd previously never had any hope of accessing.
Then it's all taken away because of some adults deciding "if everyone can't have nice things, YOU can't have nice things."
Life can feel really unfair, especially when you're a kid. This won't help.

I might be in the minority, but I think those throwbacks suck. I never liked the Redskins look.
Agreed. In fact, that old Redskins logo & jersey is the reason I became the only Bills fan in my family of all Redskins fans.
I was a little kid, and my first game was the Bills vs Redskins Super Bowl.
I thought the maroon & "gold" with an Indian face looked so ugly, but the other team with the red helmets, blue unis, and charging buffalo logo looked so cool!
I couldn't understand why my family was rooting for the ugly team, so I cheered for the other guys. My dad was just happy I was into football & that his team was winning.
But then I just stuck with them. All because the Redskins looked ugly to me 😂

I don't think Bills fans can judge. We all know Josh is also a big boy.

Starting to feel Texas is going that way as well, mostly due to giant companies buying up all the houses to rent or for Airbnb.

Well deserved.
Aside from Allen, he's been the best weapon on offense & the biggest reason for our success.
I'll say it over & over again, he has more of an impact on the field than people like Groot, yet one gets paid significantly more than the other just based off position.

speaking as the alleged victim here if the person who assaulted you had no assets and her recourse was civil not criminal liability (which is a lower standard of proof) are you saying there is a statute of limitations on such suits? like I said above. film at 11
wait and see
The whole thing stinks. from the alleged assault to now it coming home to roost as he joins our team
Isn't that just perfect

Exactly. She reported the incident immediately after it happened. She didn't stay quiet on it. It wasn't her choice to drop the charges. She posted about it a lot, and always wanted to get justice. 5 years ago, he wasn't a famous college player or an NFL player, so it obviously wasn't about money.
But now that she has a chance to get some kind of justice, she's pursuing it in civil court since she couldn't in criminal court.
***Personal Anecdote Below***
I dated someone who was attacked & SA'd outside of a college, and she dealt with it for YEARS. She never stopped trying to get justice for it, and it wasn't until the guy did it to 2 x more girls over the next 3 years that he got caught. Then my gf was finally able to cooperate with the police & identify him, but unfortunately it took years. By that point, the 2nd girl who was attacked was suffering from extreme PTSD from the incident & ended her own life. Afterwards, we found out it is was a gang thing, and guys from that gang found my gf lived & would leave threatening notes on her car, tail us in cars late at night, and even showed up at a friend's party.
Each time, we called the police, which was a whole ordeal that continued this cycle of fear & intimidating for years. We moved twice, got new vehicles & eventually it ended, but all of this was because one guy decided to r**e a girl outside a college dorm, then proceed to do it multiple more times.
My gf & those other girls were unable to get any justice for a long time, but imagine if the attacker wasn't charged & suddenly showed up on TV as an NFL draft pick. How would that feel to see someone you KNOW did something so horrible, something so traumatizing, something that makes you feel violated to your core, being rewarded & happy? Probably pretty pissed off, and you'd want to get whatever bit of justice you could.
Not saying Hairston is guilty or passing ANY judgement on him. I'm just saying this is a completely reasonable way for a victim to respond, especially if they have no other options.

I've seen a lot of talk on Twitter asking if Allen would be a Hall of Famer if he retired today, and my opinion is that he wouldn't.
Not because he hasn't been great, but 7 years for a modern QB just isn't enough time to give him the stats or accolades for that. Instead, it would just be remembered as a legendary 7 year career for Bills fans, but not among the all time greats.
I believe the same for Lamar, and if Burrow plays 2 more years without a ring, same for him. These guys need more time to get into elite categories with their stats, win more individual awards, or win a SB.
None of them NEED to win a SB to make the HOF, but if they don't, they'd need more years under their belts to get there.

I heard Keon's making his way there, as he's planning to transition to TE. Unfortunately, he's still too slow, so looks like he'll be running a bit late.

I think that Pegula realizes that there’s a limited number of dollars people in WNY have to spend on sports. If the Sabres were as good as the Bills, then a lot more people would be making decisions about where to spend their money between the two
It would take a lot of money up front and more in continuation to get the Sabres to a point where they’d be truly competitive. If you are strictly looking at maximizing profit, then why push with the Sabres now?
Is that really an issue? I know WNY isn't a huge market, but it's not all about population size with some of these franchises. Like MLB teams in Miami & Tampa Bay, the Islanders in NHL, the Wizards or Suns in the NBA, etc. all have big markets, but they're lower in attendance than most of the leagues they play in. Meanwhile, you have Cleveland, not a huge city, supporting an NBA, NFL & MLB, having great attendance, all with Cincinnati just 3.5 hours away with their own NFL & MLB teams.
It's often just about team success, other times it's about fan loyalty over sheer numbers. In terms of loyalty, look at New Orleans. I doubt the average person living there makes much more money than those in WNY, yet the Pelicans had the 3rd highest NBA attendance & the Saints had the 14th highest NFL attendance.
I think Buffalo can definitely support the Sabres, it's just that they've been terrible for too long, and the organization hasn't done anything to inspire confidence things will improve.

He is sensitive. Maybe he's the most sensitive GM in the league, I don't know, but I don't think it matters either.

I never lived in Buffalo, so I've had very few interactions with players. The best I've got was 2 people seeing my Bills jersey at the Houston airport, then coming over to talk to me. They ended up being Taron Johnson's parents, which was super cool to hear them brag on their son.
Other than that, something I remember & won't shut up about:
9 x Pro Bowler, 4 x All Pro Ruben Brown. I remember that well, and it still bums me out he's not even on the Wall of Fame.

Just know that Josh is OBVIOUSLY better than both of them and that’s what Bills fans care about.Sure, but a lot of Bills fans act like Cam wasn't a great player in his prime, or that Lamar is somehow a tier below Allen.
Josh has been a better passer, but Lamar has been a more prolific runner. Last year, a lot of things changed. Lamar looked like a better passer, while Josh became much more selective & cautious when throwing the ball.
Until last season, Allen always had more turnovers to go along with his more TDs. Then he cut back on the turnovers, still hit 40 TDs, and had the less talented offense.
So both guys have had very similar situations, just in reverse. Allen got more weapons early, then Lamar got more weapons recently.
I'm just glad the Bills are 2-0 against the Ravens in the playoffs, otherwise they'd be insufferable, and playoff losses would be a much bigger negative on Allen's career had he lost to Mahomes (4 times), Burrow, and Lamar.

There are some players from our favorite teams that we grow up watching that, to us, seem like superheroes and the best to ever do it.
We waaaay overrate their ability and love them as players, because in our youth and our lack of watching teams other than our favorite ones, they just seem like the best to us.
Metzelaars was one of those dudes for me.
I mean...he played 16 years in the NFL, so he was certainly a good player. But if you asked 50 random NFL fans or historians who their favorite 80s and 90s TEs were, I doubt you'd get a lot of Metzelaars answers. To childhood me, he was a total beast.
At 6'7" and 254 lbs, the dude just looked like a machine out there. As a kid, I just assumed ALL tight ends were giant, hulking stork people who looked like they could beat up your dad.
Loved that dude. That's how I felt about Jay Riemersma. He didn't have as long of a career as Metzelaars did, but he came on right as I was getting old enough to understand more of the game, and he seemed like he caught EVERYTHING. Years later, I looked up his stats & was shocked how "normal" they looked. In my young mind, he must've been a monster that averaged 800+ receiving yards each year, yet he only topped 500 yards once 😅

Four things stand out:
- The lack of shotgun. Amazing how much the game has changed on offense.
- The way that the game has changed on 4th downs. Any kind of 4th down back then -- even a yard or less -- was automatically a kick situation. This has changed so much in the last few years.
- Kelly had such a unique throwing motion. Instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up watching the Bills.
- Would've been a baaaad day to be going against Andre Reed in fantasy footballI think Kelly played a lot in shotgun in certain games. Shortly after I posted this video, I came across this one titled "0 Punts & 1,000+ Yards of Offense is Pretty Cool! (Bills vs 49ers 1992, Week 2)" and it's Kelly vs Young just airing it out.
Seemed like a lot of the game was played from shotgun, threw for 403 yards & 3 TDs, and man there were some big hits!
Totally agree about Kelly's throwing motion. I actually forgot how good of an arm he had & how quickly he made decisions. He would sometimes scramble a bit after his drop back to buy some more time, but what most stood out to me was his passing mechanics when throwing on the run.
In fact, after this game, I then re-watched the Bills vs Dolphins Divisional Round game from 1991 & watched Kelly scramble quite a bit. What really stood out wasn't just the big runs, it was that he finished nearly every one with a slide, followed by defenders hitting him on the ground. No flags, as that wasn't a thing yet, but it's crazy to see how they were allowed to take shots at a guy sliding time & time again.

He's played 2 more games than Joey Bosa the last 3 years, so if he's not a big deal, Bosa is even worse.
He may not stay healthy, but he's going to help them when he is.

Well he'll probably be healthy in the game against Buffalo, so it's unlikely he won't have an impact.

That said, I’m optimistic we’ll see some improvement. Personally, I’m projecting:
2025 prediction: 38 receptions, 625 yards, 3 TDs
What about you? What are your expectations for Coleman this season?
Wait, THAT is optimistic?!
Xavier Worthy beat that last year as a rookie, as he had 59 receptions, 638 yards & 6 TDs.
If it's "expecting too much" to expect Keon to out-perform the rookie numbers of a player we passed on in favor of him, that's just sad.
We also passed on Ladd McConkey & Ricky Pearsall, the later of which got shot & missed significant time, only to nearly catch up to Coleman's production with less time played.
So no, I don't think it's unfair to expect Coleman to at least perform as well as other WRs we passed on taking. After all, he has an MVP QB throwing to him, so that should give him an advantage over anyone other than Worthy, right?
I expect Keon to have a significantly better season this year, and I think it's completely fair to have those expectations. Thankfully, I think he'll meet my expectations & do much better than those numbers you laid out.

In your intro you refer to Allen in your QB praise. Do you mean Kelly?
No, I meant that we all consider Allen such an amazing player, that most Bills fans already rank him above Kelly as the best Bills QB ever.
Not only that, I've seen fans slowly push Kelly further & further down the list of best Bills players of all time (myself included). The way people talk about him is if he was just a solid QB that got the ball to the better players around him, but watching him again reminded me that simply isn't true.
He had a ton of talent, only in different ways to modern QBs. I remember many commentators & sports talk shows calling Kelly a LB that played QB due to how tough he was, but you hear the same thing today regarding Allen. Difference is when they say it about Allen, they mean he's built like a truck & runs like one too.
Sorry if my wording was confusing.

They did that years ago. Remember when the CFL had a US division?
They really should just play on the #1 seed's home field.
Watch #3 for Michigan, QB Bryce Perkins. League MVP. I'd love him backing up Josh.
Wait, the CFL merged with another US league? Or they just opened some expansion US teams?
Either way, I had no idea! That's pretty cool, thanks for the heads up

Was going through old game footage & figured I'd post this one.
Allen is such a great & unique talent that it's almost easy to let hyperbole take over & downplay how great Kelly was.
His rhythm, the timing, the way he throws, and just how quick he was is a thing of beauty to watch. He escapes pressure not with his feet, but by being so quick to get the ball out of his hands (much like Brady). He knows when & where guys are going to be, then just as he hits the final step of his drop, the ball is released.
If not, he takes a few steps in one direction & then lets it rip.
Can't forget Reed either. He was all over the field making plays. A true WR1 that could out-physical anyone. Him & Kelly out-dueled Favre & Sharpe, and I'm glad I stumbled across this game.
Also, I don't see how anyone can think these unis weren't beautiful! Hard to not feel nostalgic seeing that field, the red endzones, the red helmets + blue jerseys, man... it's criminal we don't use these as throwbacks.
Anyway, hope someone out there enjoys as much as I did!

They should merge with the CFL & attract a whole new audience.
Bet that would increase curiosity as well. Obviously, the CFL has a much longer history, so they'd have to adapt similar rules, but it would be a neat way to tie the 2 countries together (especially at a time where our closest ally has somehow been labeled an adversary).

Man, wish NFL could go back & revitalize a lot of these older games.
I know it's not as simple as old school movies on film, but with the advancement of AI tech, maybe one day we can get AI upscaling & remastering to HD & clean things up.

Aside from Benford, that was last year.
Or at least, that was the most healthy a team can realistically expect to be at that point in the year. Pretty much everyone is dealing with injuries by January (we beat the Ravens by 2 points, and they were missing Zay Flowers), so last year seemed like our best shot.
Our problem is McDermott's defense in general. It puts up very little resistance against good QBs come playoff time, each & every year. Their only saving grace is turnovers.
Other than that, we aren't as clutch as the Chiefs. I know that's an abstract concept, but we had the ball in Josh's hands, with the game on the line, the last 2 losses to the Chiefs. Him & the offense couldn't get a 1st down & had to settle for a long FG 2 years ago, then last year we had 2 shots to take the lead, or at least get in FG range, but couldn't do that either.
