Its just his 1st concussion. And he would have to pass a physical anyway. Like a conditional pick is really all any team would pay anyway.
Depends on the situation. I remember a couple years ago the Cards were like 8-1 and then Palmer went down to a torn ACL.
No one thought Philly would get a 1st for Bradford. The Texans could have one of the best rosters in the league but are relying on Tom Savage and Watson.
Taylor's 2017 salary is low for a starting QB as well. New team would be on the hook for 7.5M IIRC (or less if pro-rated). This isn't like trying to trade Tony Romo's deal last year.

Somehow the competition was "Fun to watch" for our coach
You reach an injury settlement and cut them.
The way I understand the comp system though, is that if they are paid for their services beyond week 10 then it counts as an accrued season. An injury settlement pays them for the amount of time until they are healthy. If they aren't healthy until the end of the year, then we'd be paying their full season salary.
If there is that loophole it seems shady.

Showcase? He has two years of tape. What are they gonna showcase that the league already doesnt know about him?
His health.
Concussions have derailed many players careers across many sports.
Why would the Bills be showcasing Tyrod? Everybody has seen the goods or lack thereof with 29 starts worth of film on him.
Pretty obvious nobody wants the guy or he would have been gone in the off season.
Showcase that he's healthy and in the right circumstances could play good enough football to take a team to the playoffs.
Doesn't turn the football over, helps improve the run game, good TD:INT ratio, etc. He's not great but neither is Sam Bradford and he landed Philly a 1st rounder. I think a team with a good roster and a ? at QB whether it be injury or performance would give up a 2nd for Taylor if he proves he's healthy. JMO

Denver should be the target at mid season if that is the plan. They should be willing to give up a higher pick than anyone else. I could even see a 1st if they are thinking QB is the one thing holding them back from another Super Bowl.
Denver, Houston, Arizona, Minnesota are the first few that pop to mind when I think of playoff caliber rosters with either questionable QB play or injury prone QBs.
Hopefully Taylor can get back on the field soon to show he's healthy. If Peterman is gonna be thrown into the fire the Jets at home is the best case scenario.

Yup. Time to try and get that 3rd round comp pick.
Kinda Surprised he said it out loud. What happens if the guys we want to release by week 10 (Ducasse/Davis/Holmes) suffer a season ending injury before then?
McDermott says the compensatory draft pick formula is "something we're aware of." The team will keep an eye on it, he says. #Bills

Just start Peterman the entire season. Obviously you are prepping for the future. TT isnt part of that future
I think they are hoping to showcase Tyrod the first half of the season and are waiting for a playoff contender to come down with an injured/underachieving QB.
And then trade him for more picks. Same deal with Shady if they're willing to deal with the dead money.

This thread was a fun read

We should be rooting for the Bills, whoever is playing the Chiefs, whoever is playing the Rams, and whoever is playing the Iggles.
So at least 4 teams weekly. Gonna be a busy season.

Philly Brown cut

This has the same feeling of when Chip Kelly cleaned house with the Eagles.

Like it or not they got very fat on some bad football teams
Got fat on alot of bad football teams but ok
Don't most above average offenses score lots on bad defenses though? That's not really a legit criticism when talking about offensive rankings.

I'm starting to think they are trying to get every player Whaley drafted off the roster as fast as they can so that in two years if they aren't performing well they can make a stronger case for blaming it on the previous regime.
That's 5 Whaley players traded this off-season all under the age of 24, all playing on rookie contracts, three of which were starting last year and one that we just used 3 picks to draft only one year ago.. (And it was almost 6 players because it seems like they were trying to move on from Miller too except that Ducasse has been terrible)
If we were getting rid of players in their 30s or players with bloated contracts I'd completely understand it, but I don't understand building for the future by getting rid of all of the 22, 23, 24 year old talent on the team.
Yea it's bizarre. The Miller/Ducasse situation is a glaring concern when it comes to this FO's team building priorities.
We had a top 5 defense and top 10 offense within 3 years. The talent was fine. The coaches sucked.
This. In hindsight probably should have promoted Schwartz instead of getting Rex and switching schemes... again.

Maybe Luck's injury is worse then they're letting on, hence adding another QB
-
Rudolph hasn't impressed me in the games I've watched of him so far. Would prefer Allen over him at this point.

I haven't read through the entire thread and not sure if it has been brought up or not but...
Peterman's velocity at the combine was higher than Taylors (53 mph vs 50). Taylor can of course throw a nice deep ball but he too often doesn't get enough zip on his throws imo. If Peterman can anticpate throws and read defenses better than Taylor (not setting the bar high there), then he could end up finding some success I think.

Notable changes:
QB- Kizer falls to 4th from 1st
WR- Davis falls to 3rd from 1st
OT- Robinson moved from #2 OG to #1 OT
CB- Conley now rated #2
S- Peppers falls to 3rd from 1st

Great draft!!! Let's waste the #10 selection in a draft that looks decent on the 3rd ranked safety and 4th ranked defensive back.
I mean really, who needs a quarterback? Or a receiver. We are SO deep there. And why draft blockers and/or pass rushers? Who needs them? Not the Bills! We are just deep as a well all over the field. SO deep that we can toss this pick on a safety (in the garbage).
You see, if this kid is "good," we will still lose football games. History proves this. And, we will lose him after his first contract. History has proven this too.
I am truly sorry to be harsh and trust me, I appreciate the effort. Are you very young? Do you not know had badly this team was ruined by drafting this type of player so high?
You seem stressed.

Peppers definitely fits McD's scheme as a hybrid SS/LB, just hope that if they end up drafting him they trade down. As a comp, here's a blurb on Carolina's 1st round pick 2 years ago, Shaq Thompson:
Pick Analysis: In 2014, Thompson was the winner of the fifth annual Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation's most versatile player. Scored six touchdowns in 2014, two as a running back and four on defense (one interception return and three fumble returns). Started at tailback for Huskies at Colorado, rushing for 174 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and had two receptions for 41 yards. Played in 40 games in his three-year career, finishing with 3.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 16 passes defensed and five fumble recoveries.Sound familiar? Thompson was more productive in college though.

I think a true Weakside LB is a big need. And while he wouldn't be my first choice in Rd. 1, Peppers does seem to be a great fit as a SS/Will LB in McDermott's scheme.
-
I can't see them keeping Lewis now can you?
Yea he seems to be the odd man out unless Wood is cut. But wouldn't be shocked if they hung onto all the o-linemen the first month of the season (until Henderson is eligible.) before cutting/IR'ing someone. Have an extra roster spot to play with this year since Hauscha can kickoff and do FGs.
Are you assuming Mills starts @ RT? I hope it doesn't go that way.
I'll pencil him in until someone else beats him out. Henderson is suspended, Kujo is recovering from hip surgery, Ducasse sucks, have arguably bigger needs in the draft. He's the logical choice right now.

^ That's why it was smart for Buffalo to wait to match so that it deters other teams from offering our RFAs offer sheets.
By doing so their hands are tied with regards to other FAs/trade targets and they miss out.
Glad to have Groy back, but we have a lot of O-linemen now.
Starting 5+ Groy+ Lewis+ Ducasse+ Kujo+ Henderson (suspended for start of year so it buys us an extra roster spot for the first month or so).
Maybe they keep 9 to start the year and someone gets injured by the time Henderson gets back? Dunno.

Comp picks CANNOT be traded
Yes they can.

Sooo Zach Brown signing somewhere for a big salary pretty much guarantees this?
Nate Peterman Love .. anyone vs. 2018 QB draft??

Nobody wanted Cutler this offseason but an injury to Tannehill and boom, he got $10M from Miami.
Denver offered Tyrod more money than the Bills when he was a FA as well.
And I said the right circumstances, not system. A team with a good-great defense and wants to improve their running game and protect the football, Taylor can do that.
With the lack of good back-up QBs in the league, I think a team with playoff aspiration would roll the dice with Taylor. Rather than last year when the Texans, Raiders, Bengals, and Dolphins were forced to start Connor Cook, Osweiler, Matt Moore, and AJ McCarron in the playoffs.
A 2nd round pick would be significant for this franchise.
