The new movie will undoubtedly have more human element than I prefer, but that's the only way they're going to get enough people into the theaters to see it in order to at least break even. I wish that wasn't the case, but it's something I've come to accept.
As Tom mentioned, I've always understood Godzilla to be a metaphor for the nuclear bombs we dropped on Japan. The story I read was that Japan would not allow anyone to make a film about the atomic bombs, so Gojira was born - an nearly unstoppable nuclear force that ravaged Japan's cities and countryside, indiscriminately killing and destroying everything in it's path. Then Americans got their hands on it and added approximately 20 minutes of footage of Raymond Burr portraying a foreign correspondent, reporting the story to the media back home. We renamed the movie Godzilla. That movie was later renamed Godzilla King Of The Monsters.
But Gojira/Godzilla was not an indestructible force. He was slain using a type of 'oxygen bomb' - reduced to skeletal remains in what looked like a massive, deadly Alka-Seltzer fizz at the end of the first movie. Japan was saved.
Toho revived Godzilla, and he eventually became a sort of champion for Japan, defending the islands against a host of monsters while heedlessly flattening villages, towns, cities, etc. A few movies veered away from that format along the way, but most portrayed Godzilla as a defender, not so much as a destroyer.
The 1998 American remake was a high tech, big budget piece of crap. Calling the monster a weak little iguana is an affront to iguanas worldwide. I don't even consider it to be a Godzilla film.
What I enjoyed about the 2014 movie was that despite the human interest-heavy story, they did a great job of making Godzilla actually look like Godzilla. That alone was a triumph over 1998. They also brought back the notion that Godzilla was a literal force of nature, risen from his slumber by the emergence of the "Mutos". Gratuitous destruction from the resulting conflict, a staple of any decent Godzilla move, ensued. My biggest complaint about that film was that Godzilla wasn't on screen but for a few minutes, really. That was a common complaint in most reviews of the film that I saw. Hopefully that will be addressed in next year's movie and we'll get more Godzilla for our money.
With much more potent and destructive atomic breath. And it should be used a lot more than twice in an entire movie too.

I actually loved the 2014 version, and I'm looking forward to the new release as well. My biggest beef with all of the Toho movies has always been how cheesy the monsters looked, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will be portrayed in high-tech CGI, as opposed to dudes in rubber suits.
But this movie fail, just like all monsters do, because there will be too much of the human element involved.
People who watch monster movies wanna see the monsters do massive destruction, not some stupid human love story.
The only way this movie works the world over is if they make Godzilla the indestructible force of nature that he was originally portrayed to be in 1954, with even the combined strength of King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra still not being enough to take him down.
The GMK movie was the closet thing to the portrayal of the power of Godzilla.

This is the biggest reason why these azzholes hate Trump and will NEVER be objective and do nothing but hateful rhetoric every minute of every day on their useless networks.
FOX is destroying these clowns for a reason.

What happens when said meetings with Russians are designed and arranged by elements within the IC who are trying to create the illusion of criminality? Are we supposed to just ignore that part?
Or is it okay this time because it was ordered by a democrat?
And if that's true, then you have no problem I assume with the GOP using the FBI and CIA and reaching out to foreign intelligence services like MI6 to arrange the same surveillance operation and entrapment on every democratic candidate running in the midterms and 2020, correct?
Or would that be an issue to you?
Dimwitted Democrats, who can't stand Trump, will ALWAYS believe in this stupid Russian Collusion Delusion because they have nothing else.
Trump embarrassed these idiots before the election, Trump REALLY embarrassed them all on Election Night, as he made them all look like fools with their stupid narrative of "Hillary is going to win by a landslide" crap..................... and he is embarrassing them all as the US gains respect on the world stage again and Trump is trying to keep all his promises.
The braindead idiots everywhere from the flimsy leftist posters on here to the complete morons in MSM can't stand any of this, so they now hate America and Americans who support Trump and people like me who will respect the office of the Presidency (no matter who is in office, to me anyways)
Trump is a very flawed human, just like the rest of us, but people voted for him anyway, cause they grew tired of Obama and did not want Obama 2.0 in Hillary.
Democrats hate people like you (I don't know if you are a Trump supporter or simply looking for the truth) and me and that is why they cling to the ridiculous Russian Collusion Delusion.

Yup. Remember he wrote 400+ pages on Fast and Furious when he had no powers of oversight for all of his time working under Holder/Lynch. He's thorough and dedicated to doing his job properly. I've heard (very unconfirmed) rumors from some of the journalists working that story that there are already over 150 referrals (in total of all the reports - not just the email report due first) for indictment - and that list keeps growing.
People like Schiff aren't leaking it... hell, he isn't even trying to get ahead of anything in it. That's a sign that it's !@#$ing damning.
Another key point to consider - the report was pushed back from the 5 to the 11. Remember the process the IG report goes through. Once it's finalized it's released to the people named in it so they (and their attorneys) can go through it and offer responses to the statements of fact which get included in the report. Once that's done, the IG gets to respond to those responses. We saw this in the McCabe report:
Note this page - this is just ONE response from Horowitz to McCabe's attorney:
Horowitz just ripped apart each and every McCabe defense in detail. The footnotes were several pages of rebuttal from Horowitz. Now imagine that kind of push back for every person listed in this first report. That's the final stages they are going through currently. I've confirmed from two sources the delay from the 5th to the 11th was done because Horowitz wanted more time to respond because the report received a huge amount of replies from the attorneys of the (future) defendants. What does that mean? That means this report is damning and the attorneys wanted their rebuttals added AND Horowitz is asking for more time to tear those rebuttals apart. This is a good sign.
Look at the Fleisher tweet above too... I'm not a fan of his, but he makes a good point in response to Comey's Lt's tweet. They are already trying to brush aside serious abuse and procedural !@#$ ups at the FBI (not punish/rectify those) to frame it that Trump will "unfairly" use that as ammunition to attack the DOJ/FBI.
Attack? No. Reform? Fix? Conduct proper oversight per the rule of law? YES.
For two years people have been lied to. Their partisanship taken advantage of. They've been roiled into outrage over the damage Trump's "authoritarianism" will do to this country. All in the hopes that the previous administration (and the people running them) would not be exposed for an authoritarian takeover of our most invasive intelligence assets. Now those who have been lied to or ignoring the evidence are about to be smacked in the face with pages of evidence that the previous administration not only tipped the scales of justice to let HRC walk, they also used our security and intelligence services as their own political spying apparatus. You know, like authoritarian dictators do. It's going to destroy a lot of cognitive dissonance out there.
But rather than step back, and honestly assessing what this all means, or how it's criminal and incredibly dangerous regardless of your politics, there will be plenty of paid assets (and useful idiots) trying to get you to ignore it and see it as just a "trick". They won't be able to say conspiracy theory, remember the IG report will not have accusations, just statements of fact.
Many have lost their way. Badly. And now will come the pain. Hopefully it wakes enough people up to snap them back into reality.
I am guessing McCabe, Comey, Clapper and Brennan............. just to name a few, should be in serious legal trouble.
I have my doubts that anything will be done to them though.
Hopefully the rule of law is bigger than the massive corruption the Deep and State and former high ranking officials in our justice departments caused.

the report has been in the hands of lawyers and congress and the people named for criminal referrals for the past week. Not a single leak about it other than page count (around 500 pages).
No leaks means there's no way to spin it. They're in a world of hurt... And this is just the first report of several.
Amazing that there are no leaks.
Maybe it’s a sign that Horowitz truly is a man that has no political agenda, as it has been stated.

We have been down this road before.
Who really cares now?

I may be out to lunch on this...............
but I wonder if the Seth Rich story returns to light after the report is released.

That would be so beautiful to see FBI agents throw that scumbag Comey under the bus and he winds up wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Yes to both in the extreme partisan camps. Even some of the centrists on both sides are thinking along those lines (from what I'm reading/hearing). There are some (very bright, great researchers/journalists) who think he's been positioning himself all along to be the blocker.
I don't agree with any of it - but also don't know what to make of it. I have to re-listen to both interviews, not just the sound bytes, but I'll point out two things:
1) Most of the coverage on both sides are leaving out the key fact Gowdy did not see the documents Nunes and Grassley requested. Yes, he went to the classified meeting - but in that meeting they were told they couldn't see the documents. In other words, Gowdy learned nothing new before making these statements.
2) He's playing word games that aren't being properly put into context by the articles/coverage. He clearly frames his conclusion around the FBI doing exactly what Trump asked them to do... but leaves out, and the reporters don't add, that the majority of the events in question happened before Trump was POTUS.
Neither of these observations prove anything about Gowdy's motives, I'm just offering them as things to consider before rushing to judgement either way.
It's just a mess.
Will us REAL Americans ever know the God damn truth about what is going on?
I really have no idea what else to say.
