Also the reason why the pass rush wasn't there. Buffalo usually allows their DL to penetrate on any given down. There was a more concerted effort, from what i saw, to keep those guys home this week in order to prevent gaps from widening. I think it came at a cost though.

Does it matter if none of those years were spent calling plays? There's nothing out there that simulates calling a game, therefore you need game experience to become accustomed to it and to hone in on what works and what doesn't in different situations. Like anything, becoming better at your craft takes time and experience. As far as the scheme being the issue - people need to realize this is the same scheme Atlanta had last year that set scoring records. The scheme is not the issue.

The scheme is not the issue. Play calling could have been better at times, but that's how you learn. People need to keep in mind this was Dennison's first year calling an offense. It should improve with experience. The OL and a ultra-conservative QB were the issues with this offense.

My problem with Mahomes, and many other college QBs coming out, is they come from a "Check with Me" offense. In most instances it takes the responsibility of reading the defense out of the QBs hand. It's why it's so hard for a lot of these QBs coming into the NFL now to be successful - they've simply never been asked to read a defense. If they plan on taking him at some point in the draft they better make sure they get him on the board and in the film room to see how much he really knows and is able to recognize.
