Maybe. Jury is still out. His inexperience showed through in this game in a BIG way. However, he probably did enough to achieve victory if a few key plays are executed properly by others. Duke HAS to make that catch for the TD. That’s why he was active today, and the pass could not have been better. McD and Frazier waited too long to bring pressure on Watson, who wasn’t reading the coverage well all game. Milano and whoever whiffed, and that was your ballgame. When you wait until the margin of error is zero....As good as Josh handled the first half, the second half was poor. Coaches did not do him any favors leaving Watt 1 on 1 far too often. A win and another game would have been huge for Allen’s development. It was achievable, but we can’t yet say for certain if Allen can lead the Bills to the promised land. This game was essentially a tease, and will take its place in a long list of Bills debacles that I really thought were behind the franchise now.
Amen to this. Allen was rattled in the second half but he still got the team to OT then reverted back to his bad habits at the worst possible time. The Ford penalty was a killer.
My real is issue the D. Wtf? When it matters most nobody could tackle properly. Not just Milano. Simple fundamentals lost this game.

New Years Day game I believe.
We were so hungover. I sat next to a guy from England who was in town for work. Great day. We nursed beers to ease the pain. Epic tailgate after.

Requested off a few weeks ago for a "wedding." Foresight is a wonderful thing.

Went to a party for the first half. Spent the second half at the now closed Mexican Joe's in Amherst. Not too many people there. Kick went up and it looked like it was hooking in only to veer sideways. I fell into the cigarette machine. Walked home a mile in a snowstorm. I only had three drinks but I slept for 12 hours. That game took a piece of my soul.

The British should have done their job centuries ago and burned that place to the ground. It's like Alabama and Florida had a child and relocated.

I subscribe to this guy's channel. He's really good. I watched this today. A fair and objective analysis.

Canada had a lot of great sports announcers, some made their way to the USAbsolutely. I love when Chris Cuthbert does games for NBCSN. I wish the Sabres would hire him.

Don Wittman was one of the most underrated announcers of all time. He did everything exceptionally well and was masterful calling hockey.

Greg Papa. Voice of the 49'ers. His work on the Ravens game last week was brilliant.

Booger is infinitely better than Witten and less annoying than Collinsworth.
I've changed my tune on Collinsworth. I absolutely hated him when he started. Now I think he is fantastic. As many of us here, I've been watching the game for decades. I always judge an analyst by if I learn something new. He's got a great eye for the game.

Gomper, I don't think sarcasm is a correct descriptor for what that is. It's an analogy, using hyperbole to emphasize the intended point.
The problem is the hyperbole is so over the top exaggerated that it actually detracts from the credibility of the actual account.
I hear it and I think, "if those guys believe that comparison to actual totalitarian state's secret police force is an apt analogy for treatment of the media by the Pegulas and the Bills FO, that is just so obviously exaggerated that I have to consider any story they tell might be equally subject to exaggeration"
Edit: oldmanfan said something less polite, but more concise
Fair enough.

Anyone comparing a football team’s actions to East Germany and the Stasi is a complete and utter fool.
It's sarcasm. C'mon in.

Do they have an app? I don't understand that thing. It seems that other times I've tried it, when my iphone shuts off the lights after a minute, it shuts down the sound, unlike on the apps I use, which you can also do skip and rewind, etc. Am I doing something wrong with soundcloud?
Yes. The app can be downloaded. I've used friendlier apps but it's manageable..

Can I get this podcast on Overcast, Apple Podcasts or an app like that?
We just run on SoundCloud. All our pennies go to that platform.

I've been asked by the mods to time stamp the relevant Bills part of the show. The first 25 minutes or so pertains to the state of journalism today. Feel free to skip if that's not your thing.
However, at the 26:00 mark, Jerry recounts a recent tale about what a control freak McDermott is. I have independently verified that this indeed happened.
I should have been clearer in my original post. If it gets locked, I'm only doing what others asked me to do. Happy Holidays everyone!

He was great. Talks about the future of print journalism, the "State Radio" of WGR, and the ripple effects of it all.

We got one last year because her oldest gets home from middle school at least an hour before anyone else. It's an in case of an emergency thing. Once both boys can be trusted not to lose a cell, out it goes.

Nice addition. Never heard of or saw that.
But the scene where everyone in the arena left their seats to watch he chase was beyond stupid.
Who knows why they put that in. Comic relief? Societal commentary? It doesn't matter. That chase is golden and those roads are no chip shot either.

Old school fun!

I'm to the left of Bernie. To me he doesn't go far enough. That being said, this is ridiculous. They wanted to cut his salary and they did. Ron threw him under the bus too. How did we get to this place? I weep for the future.

RIP Dave. Give the Bills some positive energy wherever you are. I know you will.

I've listened to that show. It's kind of funny when they are ragging on the Jets, but that show is the total opposite of intelligent. Those guys are good at bloviating, but it is not a smart show at all, very far from it. The Joe guy is kind of a buffoon.
Well, I disagree. I think both of them are acutely aware of the sports world. I know what you're saying but if you listen past the New York bluster, they know what's up. If you're really into an intelligent show, try Papa and Lund on KNBR. Not only is Papa the best play by play guy in the league, he's a great co-host as well.
-
WGR take notice. This is how articulate sports talk with intelligence, passion, and not blatant snark and inflated self importance. Funny thing is, the show is 11 hours away and from being broadcast and still better than anything on GR in the morning today. Joe ::"This franchise...." Lol.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - All Part of the Process

I usually love your posts but you letting the entire team and McDermott off big time. Coaching excellence? In that one situation they were prepared properly. Great.
That's his job. How about 4th and 27? How about punting on 4th and 4 from the 38? How about his wonderful penchant for having no feel for the correct time to call a TO. The list goes on .
No mention of the absolute loss of technique on fundamentals when it comes to tackling. Yes. Watson is exceptional, but let's not let Milano off the hook for not making a play he should have made.
I could go on and on. The bottom line is Allen, the D, and the coaching staff all reacted negatively to the increasing pressure in the last 20 minutes of regulation and in OT. Blowing a 16-0 lead in the process.
That's the definition of choking.
