Looking back at this thread I started April 4th...anyone feel differently now that Beane has shown he and the team have a lot of confidence in Shakir given we didn't make a major splash move up in draft and only drafted 1 WR overall?  What about seeing him working out with Moulds again this off-season?

I can't wait to sse this offense on the field personally...

Im big on Shakir. I was one of the first last season to speak up about him.  Made a thread called something like "Shakir is our most explosive player on offense."  That said, Beane had a lot of confidence last season in Davis and didnt really do much at the WR position then either.  I take that with a grain of salt.

You do when you draft 28th and the talent isn't there. The Safety will be starter this year, just maybe not "day 1". The WR will likely get 60% reps - that's starter level even if he starts the year as "WR3". The RB will likely get 30-40% snaps - that's a significant role. The DT will likley get 40% of the defensive snaps. Does it really matter if they dont get another 10-15% that the "starter" gets?

The biggest deal is at the safety spot where whoever starts will have 80-90% of the snaps.

I actually liked the safety pick. Granted, I know nothing about college players, but he sounds like a young Poyer that can cover TEs well. If he is indeed a young Poyer than it was a great pick IMO.

It should be control the clock on offense with opportunistic make them earn it defense. Kinda how parcels beat the bills in SB 25

No. It should be score as many TDs/points as possible. That antiquated controll the clock stuff doesnt work against elite offenses much anymore.  It only takes one or two mistakes per drive to end it when you trying to just control clock and move the ball 3 yards at a time. The other team is gonna score when they have elite offense.

Sure and that's why I said the Double Down in the DRAFT was a pipe dream.

We definitely need to add another, but it will be a vet. Not a draft pick. And was always going to be the case with our Defensive needs from the draft.

Always thought the same thing. They would try to reload a lot of defense because honestly they needed to.  We also desperately needed a couple receivers after trading Diggs.  They may get a vet but I don't think they are getting that big star vet people want.  Seems to me they are trying to reset the cap and it doesn't make sense to put us against it so soon again.

We have traded back. Beane thinks this is a weak day 3. He is telling us that by his actions. He is right. But if he thought that was he not trying to get up into the 4th another time or two? Empty those other picks out..... what use are they if you think the rounds 5 through 7 talent sucks?

My thoughts exactly. I thought this last year when we traded away all those late round picks. You all made it make sense of it to me last year and now we doing it again.
