That just isn't how the Bills are going to play defense. I get fans hate it because it isn't "aggressive" but it has been pretty successful for them and I don't think they are going to change it. I think they drafted Elam telling themselves they were more willing to use some press-man as a wrinkle in the scheme but then in reality they just are not comfortable playing that way. They want to be a bend don't break, keep it in front, limit the big play style of defense.
Yeah I get the concept. I guess I was just hoping Mcdermott would change it up a little bit. I expected the scheme to stay the same. Just figured we’d continue seeing the rotation until elam either won the job or needed to be traded away.

I don’t get on Mcdermott much, but this one is agitating. Guy needs to play. Rotate or whatever but he needs to be out there. Hope this is just more of a message to correct whatever issue he may have. I don’t mind Benford beating him out and being more comfy in the zone.
Maybe just me but I’d much rather see Elam out there pressing Wilson at the line than seeing Benford 9 yards back praying he don’t get beat over the top on 3rd and 6- 3

Curious how the field is gonna be.
They mentioned last night about the new surface etc etc but games back to back nights with some weather.. Seems a little risky on a new surface that hasn’t exactly been used like this. -

I try to never get too high or too low. I’ll be the first to admit the Buffalo team opening week last year was without a doubt a Super Bowl squad. That sadly was probably the best complete game they played all year.
Since Allen has arrived I basically am satisfied with the fact they should be in every game and are capable of beating anyone.
From what I have noticed I think Bills fans are just mostly over the regular season or traumatized with getting too hyped over the regular season successes and then failing in the playoffs. There’s only one cure for this stuff.

Aiden Hutchinson is a player. That was my big take away.
I won’t count Reid or that receiver group out just yet.- 1

I know we gotta hate the rivals and all, but watching hard knocks and seeing breece snag a slant and hit 21mph before reaching the sideline was impressive.

The Giants plan on playing Boogie as an OLB in their 3-4 defense. He is too small and short to play 5 technique for their D.
I stand corrected, I was under the impression they weren’t gonna stand him up based on chatting with some of their fans about him.

I think teller gets a little more hype than deserved. He’s been pretty fantastic in Cleveland but he’s also run blocking 30-50 times a game and not doing a ton of pass pro. Not sure he’s as highly rated or getting the second contract had he stayed in Buffalo.
As for Basham, I think he will have more success with the giants. 3-4 defensive end with Leanord Williams and dexter Lawrence by you? Kayvon I won’t butcher his last name but #5 rushing off the edge, he’s in a great spot to get more playing time which should boost his stats. Maybe he can develop into something good, but he’s probably going to bounce around the league some as a bridge player or backup like shaq lawson did. -
I’m much more worried about the Jets D line vs the Bills O line.
I expect largely the same defense we’ve seen from Buffalo. Big cushions on the outside to keep receivers in front. Occasional blitzes with taron and Milano and probably Rousseau or another D line dropping into coverage or something on some of those blitzes. I’d happily welcome some new changes but I’m not sure how much we’ll see week one.
Small edit for the OP on the last paragraph.. He is actually using the same playbook from Green Bay. That’s partly why Hackett and Lazard and Cobb and all them guys joined, to help teach the offense.

Their business model while successful definitely isn’t user friendly.
Gimme 17 bills games, take my 3-400 and call it a day. Maybe toss in red zone as a friendly gesture. I would not be illegally streaming games any longer. -

Honestly, I tried for over a decade to give them money for Sunday Ticket and they were always like, "no, sorry, it's not available in your area."
So... illegal streams it was for me.And now that Buffalo is in the top portion of the league they’re getting a bunch of prime time games which of course are not on the ticket lol

The NFL is ridiculous to watch games.
I haven’t had cable in a couple years and I tried to do it the “right way” by paying and it’s insanely difficult without getting roped into long term contracts that tend to get obnoxious at the end. If I was local I’d be satisfied to watch buffalo games and sit out the rest or catch up on social media to the rest of the league.
Mostly anything free that is going to show illegal streams is hardly watchable between the quality being bad, the streams being shut down and buffering. I would love to see one of these executives tune into a free illegal stream, they’d probably laugh after 2-3 minutes and let it go.
As for some paid services, I’ve had great luck when they’re working. Always the risk it just magically disappears though.- 2

I would fully expect him to return to the practice squad later unless they fall in love with the new guy during that timeframe.

It was the pats division for years until someone could take it from them. I feel the same for Buffalo now. I don’t fully see how you pick against them until someone actually proves they can dethrone them.
Just because you add a former MVP quarterback does not mean you’re a lock for success year one or that they’ll continue playing at an mvp level. Ask Russ last season.- 1

If he clears it would be a good move for him to get on Buffalos practice squad if they offer.

I’ve wanted him in Buffalo for like 3 years, so happy he’ll stick around for now and maybe get a shot later

Whole lotta speculation and a weird time to post it. I read somewhere that once you’re paying a second contract to a quarterback you can’t fill all the holes and need to draft well. A little development for the players at the bottom of the roster helps too.

I get the sentiment but wins in September and October count too and saving someone for the playoffs won't matter much if they don't even qualify.
Hopefully it works out and the DEs can hold down the fort until he is ready to go but just assuming that will be the case is also risky.
If this veteran team can’t hold it together to start the season because Von is out they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs imo
The games are important but they’ve invested as heavy if not heavier than anyone else in the league on the D line over the years. They should be able to play at a high enough level

I think it’s the best move. Need him in December and January a lot more than September.

2022- Elam: BUST
This is such a silly thing to say.
Dudes played 400 snaps in the pros, you can’t bust that quick unless you’re out of the league. Isiah Wilson, there’s a bust.- 1

They will leave Edmunds alone once the new target is identified. We are in primary season but the general election is forthcoming. Candidates include:
Elam…..leader in the clubhouse
Davis
Harty….because people will whine that the unemployed ham and egger Isabella would have been awesome
White…..for reasons I do not begin to understand
Brown but that’s probably too easy
Dawkins
McDermott
Beane
and more.
The hate will eventually settle in and focus like a laser.
I’m a little out of touch. I thought Diggs was leading because he’s toxic, he had temper tantrums in Minnesota, and he hates Allen and Mcdermott.
With Elam and Dawkins closely behind.
