  1. Front load that contract as much as possible. Next year they should have well over $100m to play with and that’s the year you pay JJ a crazy amount. Soften the hit the other years but while you can afford it you stack the deck and pay the kid.

then again, this is the Vikings we are talking about…

  2. Say what you will about the drops, and I totally get it, but when he’s on he’s great. While I do think we can improve via the draft, he was a part of some very important games for us and he was a valuable, if sometimes unreliable, part of our team.

Best of luck Gabe. I hope you hit those incentives and wish you the best… but if you’re lined up across from us I hope you have an off day

Davis is going to get 18 mill per from someone

If this years comp draft formula is indicative of anything that will net…

    a 3rd rounder… for the Patriots.

As for us? Maybe a 6th and a kick to the nuts.

  4. Speaking of comp picks, if Gabe gets a strong enough payday would we be possibly looking at another 3rd next year? Depending on the players we add, of course, could mean we have that potential pick to play with come draft day to move up if we were so inclined.

  5. The combine made this far more difficult than I was expecting. Still have Harrison, Nabers, and Odunze as the top-3 and will be long gone. Here’s my ranking as of today:

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State

    Malik Nabers - LSU

    Rome Odunze - Washington

    Brian Thomas Jr. - LSU

    Adonai Mitchell - Texas

    Ladd McConkey - Georgia

    Xavier Worthy - Texas

    Xavier Legette - South Carolina

    Keon Coleman - FSU

    Troy Franklin - Oregon

    Ja’Lynn Polk - Washington

I highlighted Thomas Jr, AD, and McConkey as likely targets. Thomas Jr will not make it to 28 but I would consider a trade up if the draft falls in a way that makes sense. AD might need to hop a few spots but will possibly go in the early 20s, McConkey should be there but I want to wait until pro days before being committed.

Worthy I have a 2nd round grade on but absolutely can see someone grabbing him round 1 based on speed alone. Legette looks like a man among boys but his total body of work isn’t as impressive as others (doesn’t mean he isn’t good, but he was a late bloomer. Is that because he was 3-4 years older than some of his competition or Did he turn a corner?)

Coleman and Franklin I had as late 1st/early 2nd grades on but can see some people push them straight to round 2 based on the combine performance. Coleman had a slow 40 but moved well during drills. Franklin had a good 40 but didn’t perform as well during drills. I’ve said it before that they shouldn’t have their stock lowered that much, but I would not be surprised to see them miss round 1 unless they rebound well during pro days. **These two are still great options and I have confidence they will look better in the coming weeks**

Polk is the one guy I don’t think moved up or down for me at all. He’s a 2nd rounder, and a good one. There’s just too many other dudes who do something a little better overall than him. Again, quality player, but he’s not going round 1 barring something crazy

One of the last 4 guys on the list will be a Buffalo Bill and it's very exciting. Here's how I have it after today:

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State

    Malik Nabers - LSU

    Rome Odunze - Washington

    Brian Thomas Jr. - LSU

    Xavier Worthy - Texas

    Xavier Legette - South Carolina

    Adonai Mitchell - Texas

My rankings currently. All of these dudes will be gone by the end of round 2 I think:

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State

    Malik Nabers - LSU

    Rome Odunze - Washington

    Brian Thomas Jr. - LSU

    Adonai Mitchell - Texas

    Ladd McConkey - Georgia

    Xavier Worthy - Texas

    Xavier Legette - South Carolina

    Keon Coleman - FSU

    Troy Franklin - Oregon

    Ja’Lynn Polk - Washington

    * notes: I like some of the other receivers over both Xavier’s but their showing today is gonna make people adjust their boards. They aren’t bad prospects at all, I’m just thinking people see a 40 time for Coleman and don’t realize he plays very fast despite how it looks in a straight line. Hoping Franklin bounces back too, but I like all of these guys and would be happy with any of them most likely

  7. One thing I can say about the combine today is it actually raised  few more questions than it answered:

    1. Franklin and Coleman: bad days or all hype? I really liked Franklin heading into the combine but he measured smaller and had an uninspired showing for drills. Coleman was the opposite: great drills but shockingly slow 40. I think they’re fine and will show better at their pro days, but today saw their stock fall a few spots. They’ll need to do some work to get back to round 1 status.

    2. Ladd is Rad: Can McConkey be our outside receiver? He was lined up outside a lot in college, so he has the experience but he is a little on the small side. That being said, when you watch him you get why he is coveted. Looked flawless out there.

    3. AD Mitchell: incredible day, and is he now out of range? AD had a fantastic day, and he was a guy I was sure would be available at 28, but maybe not now. He’s smaller and faster than he was advertised by college measurements but he’s still a huge threat and may have really helped himself today. Would not be mad if he was picked.

    Other notes:

Worthy was blisteringly fast. 4.21 is insane, and I could see a few teams moving him way up on their boards. Let’s see how he catches at his pro day, but his take and combine show he’s got talent.

Brian Thomas Jr solidified his round 1 status. With a poor showing from Coleman I can see him going in the late teens to early 20’s. I would love it if he’s at 28 but it seems less likely at this point.

Johnny Wilson is a freaking man among boys. While everyone else measured a few inches shorter than advertised he did not. 6’6” and a good showing today. He will be an early 3rd rounder I think.

Rice, McCaffrey, and Pearsall did well. I think McC and Pearsall could be early 4ths (Pearsall on skill, McC more on name if I’m being honest) and Rice could be a late 4th early 5th.
