Wonder what Browns fans think about this all? Anyone have any Cleveland buddies?
Are they outraged with the Browns decisions? Are they in Watson’s corner? Or is it a “short memory - win me a Lombardi” thing?
Currently live in Cleveland. I would say the vast majority are now hanging their hats on "Yeah, but what about Kraft and Snyder" and the lack of evidence. I have heard several times "well, if he actually did it, he should get suspended, but there really isn't any evidence against him, so Go Browns".
Initially, the majority was disgusted but I would say since then its been switched and now the majority just want to find out what the punishment will be with most assuming it will be light.

It wouldn't make any sense at all to link any potential punishment for Watson to the contract the Browns offered him as far a way for the other owners to punish Haslam for the offer. That's what the other poster was suggesting. Owners don't care about dumb contracts by other owners---because all of them are getting "guaranteed money".
Owners most definitely care about contracts that are being handed out. Herbert and Burrow just went from negotiating their contracts based on Josh's contract, to now negotiating based on DW's contract. Both will demand fully guaranteed money and both will demand more money than DW got.
Per the CBA owners are required to fund any future guaranteed money above $15M into an escrow account. So now owners have to write huge checks into escrow accounts. Billionaire or not, writing a $230MM+ check to fund an escrow account hurts the cash flow.

He's not. Someone upstream speculated that it was possible he could.
yes, that was me. It was posted with the intention of a joke/satirical. In the sense of "this has gotten so crazy that I wouldn't be surprised if XYZ". But I will definitely own bringing it up

how would he prove they knew this?Check out the tweets posted by YOLO. Definitely seems like the Texans were notified there was some weird stuff going on.
Again, not saying he should or will, or even has a case; just doesn't seem out of the realm given how crazy this story has already become.

I don't think that's likely unless he loses his cases and gets perma banned from the league, only way it makes sense for him to do that and basically confirm it, besides the moral reasons.
Yeah, that was my thought as well. But honestly, at this point it doesn't feel that outlandish to think about.
Either way, this thing isn't getting any cleaner anytime soon and the NFL has to be downright pissed
-
So, at what point does this get really weird and Deshaun ends up suing the Texans? Something along the lines of "You knew I was a sex addict, provided me with a location, and a massage table, and enabled my continued behavior rather than helping me".

Although it seems weird, one thing we have learned again and again is Beane and co do everything for a very specific and calculated purpose, so shout out to Kumerow for being open to it

You have to imagine the ruling is going to take place soon. NFL would likely want the ruling and any appeals to be taken care of prior to training camp

For those that were consistently saying the women were just coming forward for a money grab, care to explain those mentioned in the article that came forward with their story, but did not file a suit nor give their name?
Let me guess, they are just looking to hurt men and “manipulate” any way they can??

Don't worry everyone! The Browns did "extensive" due diligence!!!
Going to go out on a limb and assume the NYT piece really caught them off guard then

I'm just wondering if people will be upset with a six game suspension as opposed to a 6 x 24 game suspension.
I don't think it will be 6 games, but I also do not expect it to be 144 games either.
Given the MLBs recent 2 year suspension of Trevor Bauer, it would be extremely difficult to only suspend him for 6 games and expect the public blow back not to be horrendous. As you have mentioned, the NFL is a corporation and cares about the bottom dollar. Having the public enraged, causing a loss of money and potential sponsors is also something they will consider.
Being that he cannot be placed on the exemption list, I personally think it should be an indefinite suspension until all cases are either dismissed, settled, or court proceedings are complete. Once all cases are complete, the league can then choose to reinstate or extend his suspension based on the findings. This would allow the league to show they are taking the allegations seriously, but would also allow Watson the ability to hit the field ASAP if it is found that the cases are without basis and are dismissed.

Good signing. Tough to find a better gunner out there. I would also be willing to bet his cap hit is nowhere near the 3.6MM. Guessing the 10.9MM maximum value also includes all of the not likely to be earned incentives

Kirk looks to be hanging with JA17 in Cali. Take a look at Brittany Williams Instagram story and Kirk is present in the most recent posting 🤔

i think the starting point in the analysis is Sean Payton's actual contract.
coaches dont have a CBA with standard provisions. They dont have a salary cap. Payton could easily have leveraged some out-clauses over the years.

Question...He has three years left on his contract with New Orleans. Since he was not fired, would there need to be compensation to NO if someone tries to hire him as their head coach? Is he free to take another HC position?
Compensation would be required unless NO for some reason terminates his contract. Kinda like when Marshawn came back to the raiders but the Seahawks technically still possessed his contractual rights

Dude took a look at the -$75MM in cap space, shrugged, then looked at Taysom Hill, frowned, then looked back at the -$75MM in cap, and said "Yep, F that noise, I am outta here"

I think they just need to test clear for two days.
New protocol is 2 negative tests, 1 of which must be a PCR. So if he tests negative on a PCR on Friday, he can then take an at home rapid test 20 minutes later and if he tests negative he is good to go.
If he is unvaccinated he is out the minimum of 5 days and would miss the game

Great point. Siemian and Hill should be enough to keep the game close. I won't be surprised if the Saints line up Hill and gash the Bills with the run.
Also, the Saints defense has been pretty good not withstanding the Eagles game. They get after the QB and by now we know that's the formula to beat the Bills. I don't see the Bills Oline holding off their pass rush.
Factor in home field advantage, Thanksgiving day, Saints coming off a bad loss, Bills won't run the ball, Allen isnt Allen of last year, and both sides of the Bills lines are subpar.
Folks, this Bills team is not elite. Last year was an outliner. I know I will get crucified for that statement. The Bills are above average at best.
Take the points! No way should the Bills be favored by 6.
You mean the same Taysom Hill that has 171 rushing yards on the season? Listen, I get it, the Bills were abysmal against the colts running attack, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking Hill is in the same stratosphere as Jonathan Taylor. The Saints Oline is also extremely banged up compared to the Colts line.
You can't factor in the Saints coming off a bad loss without also factoring in that the Bills are also coming off a bad loss. Allen has been more than capable this year. Yes, he hasn't necessarily been the guy we expected, but he also has not been some awful QB. I will give you that the lines leave much to be desired.
The Bills could very well lose this game, but lets not also ignore everything that is going in the Bills favor right now.
- Saints trotting out Trevor Siemian
- Saints missing potentially both starting RBs and will likely be starting a guy just coming off IR himself
- Saints are missing their TE, their starting DE, and likely at least one OT
- Bills have a clean injury report
- In the games where Buffalo has disappointed this year, each of the following weeks they have covered the spread
The Bills have not been elite this year, they have shown flashes of it, but have also shown that when the wheels come loose, it can get ugly - just like several other top teams in the AFC.
Take this all into consideration and it isn't difficult to see why the line is Bills -6.

I trust that both Kamara and Ingram will be out, since Tuesday is like a Friday this week.
I say that tongue in cheek, because I heard that Payton likes to play games with the injury report and I don't actually expect them to be out.
I don't think Kamara plays but would be surprised if Ingram ended up not playing

Seeing Rumors start to trickle out on Twitter that Kamara, Ingram, Ramczyk, and Davenport did not practice today.
LT Terron Armstead returned to practice - not sure if it was a LP or FP

It was reported that Doyle was warming up on the sideline on Sunday, did he end up going in? Also, he’s a tackle, can he also play guard?
I would think the idea would be to slot Doyle in at RT and get Williams back to G.
The question would be is Doyle at RT going to be worse than Ford at G? I would think it would have been worth a shot to slot in Doyle at RT and give him a TE to chip his man or keep the RB in and help him.
