Likelihood of hitting a random object (ie not a planet/star/moon what have you) during space travel is as close to zero as possible.

Space is ***** huge. I mean, they named it 'space'.

Consider a different version of the problem. Say you wanted to go somewhere directly across the galaxy. You would likely want to avoid the super massive black hole at the center of the galaxy. So you go around it, but should you stay in the plane of the galaxy or go "above" the plane, sort of like an airplane going over the pole?

  2. Road House is a classic. It is quintessential '80s, with it's acid washed wisdom, feathered hair glory, memorable performances, boobies, bar fights and it's very quotable. I have to send some respect to Terry Funk and Jeff Healey. There's so many throw away lines in that movie that still come out of my mouth like, "Well, if it keeps you in the good graces of the church-" and the reply, "Ain't it peculiar how money seems to do that very thing."

  3. I took a look at the pro bowl teams from this year and last year to see what rounds various positions were frequently drafted. I did it partly because I always want to argue against drafting a RB early as it seems like I frequently see guys come out of nowhere and perform well. So before I came on here to shoot my mouth off I thought I'd try and look at some actual results. I looked at probowl starters and alternates counting each player only once if they made it both years. I only looked at offense positions besides QB. Here's some raw numbers of the draft round by position.

    WR: 1,1,1,1, 2,2,2,3,5,6,UDFA,UDFA

    RB: 1,1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,3,UDFA

    TE: 2,2,3,3

    C : 1,1,1,1,2,2

    G :1,1,1,1,2,3,3,3,3

    T: 1,1,1,1,1,3,UDFA, UDFA

Here's few things that popped out at me

    1) I was wrong about running backs. With the exception of the lone UDFA, the kid from Denver, probowl RBs are taken early.

    2) Apparently WR and T are positions that yield probowlers after the 3rd round, Maybe these positions have a longer learning curve at the pro level allowing guys to put together their physical traits with the necessary skills after the draft. In other words, guys can actually grow into these two positions.

    3) If you want a great Center, get him early. I think this is relevant because it means we should push hard to get a C in free agency over, say, a Guard, leaving more flexibility in the draft.

So, obviously there's lots of first round picks in the mix and this is a very limited sample set. I just threw it together because I wanted to cite facts about the RB position, and in trying to find stuff to support my opinion, I found enough to change my mind. If you don't like my methods, please go collect your own data and do your own analysis. I'd be interested to see it, but I sure don't want to argue about my methods. I'm not saying any of this is conclusive, just food for thought about how we value certain positions.

  4. 'Twas the night before Christmas, and at Santa's House
The eggnog was gone, the elves were all soused
The toys were not finished, the sleigh wasn't packed,
The Workshop a mess and a big hole in his sack,
St. Nick rolled his eyes, then clenched his big fists.
For some children tomorrow, he had no gifts.
Then out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
Santa ran to the window to see what was the matter.
He pulled up the blinds, and what did he see?
Eight tiny reindeer, starting to flee.
"Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen!
Here Comet! Back cupid! Now! Donder and Blitzen!"
The reindeer stopped, as he called out their names,
Then went right back to their reindeer games.
St. Nick shook his head, and muttered to himself,
"Why tonight? You damn drunken elves."
His blood pressure rising, his face getting red,
Off to get his suit, Old St. Nick did then tread.
Opening the closet, and grabbing his boots,
Santa saw something wrong with his trademark red suit.
The suit wasn't red, but a light shade of pink.
It was far too small, when did it shrink?
Santa was livid, and threw his suit to the floor,
When he heard a light knock on his back door.
Running downstairs, he answered the knock.
Grabbing the handle and unlocking the lock.
At the door was an angel, in his hand a fir tree.
"Hi Nick! How's it going? Were you waiting for me?
I brought what you asked, I'm sorry I'm late.
I got sidetracked, I figured you could wait.
Then on the way, I got caught in a thicket.
So, Nick, old man, where should I stick it?"

And that is the story of how the Angel got on top of the Christmas Tree

Merry Christmas all you Bills Fans! And everybody else, too. Except for Pats fans. They've been getting gifts from the Refs for years.

  5. Allen was getting what, maybe 1/3 or 1/2 the first team reps through August and September? Because he wasn't supposed to start. That certainly stunted his learning early in the season. He actually overcame quite a bit being thrown in there while not being fully prepared. We'll never see a less experienced Josh Allen and hopefully never see him play with a less talented offense.  It's gonna be Christmas in August when the preseason kicks off. I also think Allen may be the hook to bring in Free Agents on offense. Nobody was looking at any of our previous QBs that way over the last ten years.

I keep hearing the talking heads saying that the INT near the end of the game by Brady was uncharacteristic. Not really. What usually happens is Bradys deal with the devil gives him a secondary break down or a PI, or just some fluky Montana size horseshoe of luck. But I think the horseshoe is getting a bit rusty.

Considering where he keeps it, that's not rust. I'm just surprised Giselle didn't notice it was missing from her foot.

  7. The only thing that would make me happy regarding the Patriots is if they were caught red handed cheating with the QB helmet communication. And Brady and Belichik were prosecuted for fraud. So two things. Oh and the franchise was folded and the championships vacated. Four, it's four things. Well, and the entire state of Massachusetts was returned to the Wampanaug tribe. That's five. Y'know, I'll bet there's a twelve days of Christmas song in there, where Brady has to give up Five Golden Rings.

They don't have a State income tax, so maybe that's why?

They got oil money. And they have tons of it. That town has sooo much cash, especially in a good economy. They build housing/streets etc in blocks of several thousand homes at a time. They basically add an Amherst or Orchard Park every year.

Do you mean “snowflakes” in the frozen precipitation sense of the word or the Fox News definition?

In this particular case, I mean the multifaceted, unique creations of nature that are so delicate, the mere touch of your hand will damage them forever. Wait, that doesn't clear things up, does it?

    Frozen precipitation.

How many snow plows does the area have?

They just drive a pick up truck really fast and then roll it onto its side. And they have A LOT of pick up trucks. Alternately they close school, pass out the guns to the children and shoot the snowflakes out of the sky.

I kid the nice folks from Dallas. I was just there in April to visit my Dad and my Sister and her family. Please don't shoot me when I come down in the spring.
