  1. Here we go baby!!! Indy just needs to lose next week at Baltimore and to close the season against the Texans!
  2. https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl/browns/baker-mayfield-to-the-browns-new-cleveland-gm-john-dorsey-says-hes-already-scouted-heisman-qb/95-499196820?scroll=0 Well all the pre-draft stuff has started. If it were true that the Browns loved Baker Mayfield, I wonder if they would try to trade down in the 1st round to acquire him and pick up more draft picks... again. If so... trade up with them to ensure Darnold/Rosen???
  3. I apologize for being an arse... I know I can be one. Sometimes you just bring out the worst in me, largely because you have some seemingly very extreme preconceived notions. Ask questions next time if you don't understand what something says rather than just assuming "the worst" immediately. When I'm unfairly attacked, I'll hit back.
  4. I was going to get upset at you, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and translate what I meant. Here's the quote you're referring to where you think I'm saying that Taylor will be here in 2019: "If it's Rosen/Darnold, we probably keep Taylor who competes/starts the beginning of 2018 with one of those guys set to take the reins during the year of in 2019." I assume you're equating Taylor with "one of those guys" because he was mentioned in the same sentence. Considering it says "one of those guys set to take the reins," I believed, when typing that sentence originally, that it would have been implicit to anyone who read that phrase that "take the reins" means it would have been Rosen or Darnold taking over Taylor's position once he was gone. I see that I needed to explain that phrase further for clarification for a poster who might misinterpret that phrase or just not know what the heck it implies/means. So, what that phrase said and what I meant with that phrase was never that Taylor would be around in 2019, instead that Taylor might be here in 2018, possibly still "holding the reins" as a starter/placeholder while the rookie learns. And then in 2019, Taylor would be gone and one of Darnold or Rosen would have to "take the reins," a phrase that usually implies one person taking over a position from someone who is leaving or has just left that position. Understood now? I never ever said or meant or believed in the context of this thread that Tyrod Taylor would still be a Buffalo Bill in 2019
  5. Just seeing Mayfield a bit I wonder if he might actually the best NFL QB in the draft. Yeah, there's his height, which I'll be curious about when he reaches the combine, but he just seems like such an unbelievable competitor and just seems to always deliver. He'll fall because of attitude and personality and height, but I wonder if McDermott & Co. could channel all that competitive fire and personality in the way it seems they've done with McCoy, who now just looks like the ultimate team guy.
  6. I'm sorry I have to do this, Real McCoy. I know it upsets you when I respond like this, but misinformation deserves to be corrected and, if the deliberate intent to misinform exists, it deserves to be criticized. I never said Tyrod will be here in 2019. Never. At best, Taylor plays with the Bills in 2018. In 2018, he's gone while the guy we drafted in the 2018 draft takes the reins. What you believe have been "insults" and "name calling" are really not, on my part. I really want to like you, but you constantly say things that are either bending the truth or are just outright lies and you do it in such a pompous and arrogant manner that I just have to respond to it. No, I'm not better than responding to smear tactics, which is all you seem to resort to. So, once again, the post you have here contains absolute and outright lies. You do that a lot. Mayfield and Rosen?
  7. Exactly! Remember a couple years ago with Goff and Wentz going #1 and #2? Weren't both those guys traded up for? Didn't the Rams trade up with the Browns (?) and the Eagles trade up with the Titans? Maybe this is like that... ?
  8. Why not Darnold? Isn't Rosen thinner and more injury prone? Might be a problem in the NFL, not that I wouldn't be stoked to get him.
  9. You are proving to be an idiot. Seriously. That's fact, not insult. I think you're the one truly obsessed with Tyrod Taylor. I mentioned him twice in a much longer post, and one of those mentions was about trading him. This thread is about the Bills future Franchise QB. Tyrod Taylor isn't that guy. I don't know why you're so obsessed with making him the focal point of every conversation, even those that really aren't about him. Sad. Just sad.
  10. It's people like you and the above poster who are making this about Tyrod Taylor. I'm talking the next decade to decade and a half of our QB position and scenarios that involve us getting that guy and what we have to give up and you guys are fixated on talking about Tyrod Taylor. Anazing No, it doesn't. I hope your Internet self isn't a reflection of how you are in real life.
  11. How the F is this a Tyrod thread, dumbass? Did you even read the OP?
  12. Yup, you'd have like $20 million total dedicated to the most important position in football with 2 rookie QB contracts. Thusly the sage has spoken, and thus it shall be You wouldn't trade 2 firsts for Andrew Luck? Really?
  13. Again, the Chiefs with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes would be the blueprint. Darnold in particular from what I've read and heard and seen is pretty raw and needs to work on decision making so maybe the year or half year or whatever it would end up being would greatly benefit him.
  14. Bow out of what??? This isn't the "I love Tyrod Taylor" thread a couple of you are making it out to be. My intention wasn't to talk about Taylor but rather the possibility of Rosen/Darnold/Luck in Buffalo based on what we'd have to give up all assuming/hoping the Colts end up with the #2 pick.
  15. Fine, $2-$4 million, whatever it costs. Back in 2014 the Cap hit for a backup QB in the NFL averaged over $2 million. The Cap hit will be what matters regarding signing other players like the OL. http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-quarterbacks-salary-cap-hits-2014-10 So factor whatever money you need to get your backup... it's there. Not surprisingly I suppose this is turning into a Taylor discussion. He's here. He's not here. Who cares? The other stuff is what I'd like to see happen, anyway, and it starts with the Colts losing in TNF tomorrow against the Texans!!!
  16. Nah, just look at what Andy Reid and the Chiefs are doing with Alex Smith & Patrick Mahomes. Same blueprint. The cost of keeping Taylor while a rookie comes in and has pressure taken off his shoulders is pretty minimal when you factor everything in. I realize that emotionally everyone will just want a clean slate, but just prepare yourself for a good chance of Taylor still being here next year with the future guy waiting in the wings.
  17. I don't think this is what'll happen. Taylor's contract is set up pretty much perfectly as a bridge contract for a rookie QB to come in and learn on the bench for a bit before taking the reins sometime during the 2018 season or in 2019 when the Bills can part ways with Taylor with no financial hardship, whatsoever. From what I understand, if the Bills cut Taylor, they're going to still take a $6-$8 million CAP hit whereas if they keep him it's something like a $15-$16 million CAP hit. I'm not looking at those numbers so anyone can correct me because I'm sure they're off. Regardless, the point is that the money they save by cutting him is probably less than $10 million and then you'll have to go out and get another QB for the team and you'll probably pay him $5-$6 million. So, $4-$5 million leftover just so you can get your OL? I actually just learned about more about his contract last night from another poster here. Before I thought Taylor was pretty likely not going to be here next year, but from the way I understand it now, it was created largely with the intention of using him as a bridge to the next QB we get in the draft. I know some are just going to emotionally scream that Taylor needs to be off the roster in 2018, but I think there's a pretty high likelihood he's here if McBeane is planning on grabbing our future franchise QB in the draft. If they plan on Luck or a guy like Cousins as our future, they'll find a way to deal Taylor I'm sure.
  18. Obviously the most ideal is that we make a playoff run and win a Super Bowl, but I don't think ANYONE believes that will happen. I don't... I'm hoping, obviously, but don't even remotely think it happens. so... we're left with this... and I think this is the way things would ideally play out in McBeane's mind Bills win out or win 2 of their next 3 games and make the playoffs to get that monkey off our back Giants win a couple games to get to 4 or 5 wins and the Colts lose all of their remaining games. Colts left with #2 draft pick while Giants fall to #3. Bills trade up on draft day with the Colts for the #2 pick to get Darnold/Rosen OR (and this is a pipe dream) we trade for Luck somehow. Yes, I realize if we trade up for Darnold/Rosen, we're giving them 2 firsts this year, a first next year and probably another draft pick or two. If those 2 QBs are as advertised, that's fine. Yes, I realize that if we trade up for Luck, we're going to have to probably give away EVEN MORE draft picks. If Andrew Luck is healthy, that's fine. If it's Rosen/Darnold, we probably keep Taylor who competes/starts the beginning of 2018 with one of those guys set to take the reins during the year of in 2019. We have our QB for the next 15 years If it's Luck, I wonder if we package Taylor in there with a trade and try to accomplish that in the first 4 or 5 days of the new league year when whatever bonus doesn't kick in, yet. We have a generational franchise-changer for the next decade, at least... hopefully. Anyway, regardless, now that the 49ers look like they're falling precipitously in the draft with Jimmy G helping them win, looks like we're rooting for the Colts to lose and the Giants to win... so we helped ourselves out in a couple different ways on Sunday
  19. Sooooo... Peterman is limited in practice today, taking snaps and throwing passes, and is already in stage 4 of the concussion protocol. Be honest now... do you have a source?
  20. Interesting. Then I think it's a lot more likely than most thought that Taylor remains a Bill for the 2018 season. It'll be an interesting offseason, to say the least.
  21. Your counter argument is bogus. Who has EVER called Taylor a top 5 QB?
  22. I don't think it will ever die because I think Football satisfies this inherent barbaric need we have. I think it's just a natural ebb and flow we're seeing, It's still a buttload more popular than it was 15-20 years ago even with this sudden "downturn," which I think has as much to do with viewing habits as anything. Get safety and equipment continually better and suddenly parents will be putting their kids in pads again.
  23. First of all, I'm just going to assume you don't have reading comprehension problems and, therefore, are not lumping me in with posters who "hate Cousins," whoever that might be. Secondly, understand that the only option is Cousins OR 1st round QB, not AND. AND isn't on the table because it's not feasible. Remember that Cousins needs to sign to the deal. Thinking he'll sign a 3 year deal that isn't paying him north of $25 million per year is bonkers. Thinking we're going to pay a bridge QB north of $25 million per year for a few years with our future sitting behind him is even more bonkers!
  24. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buffalorumblings.com/platform/amp/2017/3/10/14881226/tyrod-taylor-restructured-contract-2017-nfl-free-agency-doug-whaley-buffalo-bills "Buffalo was able to shorten the length of Tyrod’s deal. They can move on from him in a year with a relatively minimal cap hit of $8.64 million or let him play out the last year of his contract and let him become a free agent. His earlier contract ran through 2021." Well I guess it's not technically an option. It's just that we can cut him without a huge Cap hit in the first 4 or 5 days of the new league year. My misunderstanding. I guess Taylor's even more likely to still be a Buffalo Bill next year than I thought.
