Stats are nice and all, but I don't think it's fair to compare rookie QBs without accounting for the team surrounding them.
Look at Jared Goff's stats before he had a supporting cast. Arguably worst statistics out of any rookie.
Now look at Dak Prescott's rookie year when he had a great O-Line and run game. Arguably best statistics out of any rookie.
I don't think there are a lot of people who would prefer Dak Prescott over Jared Goff now that the tables have turned.

Here's a fun one. I just looked up the stats.
The Bills haven't returned a kickoff or a punt for a TD since 2013.
Crossman has been Special Teams coach for all of those years.

Give Crossman and Castillo some talent to work with and then get back to me,Talbot.
The gunners left their lanes..
How many years have we had this excuse from Crossman? We went out and signed guys SPECIFICALLY FOR SPECIAL TEAMS and he still stunk.
No idea how this guy was held over from Rex's regime and still has a job.

The blowout losses were the hardest things to take. And, Sean was more and more out Coached by guys we had passed on. So, we got blown out by Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, and Andrew Luck. What stings most was the Chargers loss and the Colts loss. As we passed on Lynn for head coach and Reich as an offensive coordinator (before his offensive Super Bowl mastery) when folks said he was lucky to have Rivers. Instead of finding Anderson or Barkley earlier Sean extended his nepotism and stubbornness as unwillingness in parting ways with Nate Peterman and still kept him against Chicago. I see McDermott as a translation Coach and Beane will do what is necessary to save his own neck to that end cutting Peterman; after Sean gave him a vote of confidence. Sean brought in Beane but it means that McDermott is not Beane’s first choice for a Coach. If it means after the season jettisoning Sean to have Frazier as an interim I’m set with that. Given how Leslie was hamstrung in Minnesota with Christian Ponder (who) and having Josh Allen to really develop could see it working. The defense was tired and the Coach refused to move on from KB or elevate guys like Foster which he was forced too; anyone else thinking that Beane is looking for “his guy” to take over as Coach?
Great post. Now, if you're officially quitting the process, I suppose this means goodbye.
So goodbye.

I noticed McDermott referenced "our young football team" in his very first statement of the PC after the game.
He loves to do that.
[We're the 5th oldest team in the league].
This really is a dumb comment.
We’re only 5th “oldest” because we have 3 very old players on the team. The majority of the starters are first or second year pros. They even mentioned during the game that we have more first or second year starters than any other team in the NFL.

As much as I love seeing his passion, I don't like seeing players do this.
Nobody likes it when guys leave Buffalo and hate on the city/team.

Can we please shut this thread down? It's going to get bad, fast.
This is a bad idea for lots of reasons and we don't have to make it a 15 page flame war.

Little known fact, Nick O'Leary is actually Jack Nicklaus's grandson and he doesn't play with gloves.
-
There was also the annoying Alabama fan on here who said Foster is going to be legit ... but he has said that about every Alabama player ever, so not worth a shout out.

We're building a young team around a young QB. How about just using the picks on WR so they can grow together instead of trading for vets?
-
Nobody has ever done this before ... DEFINITELY not Kordell Stewart 20 years ago when he lined up at QB, RB, and WR and was called "Slash" instead of "Jack Back."

I don’t get why it’s not “correct.” When NFL teams live scout at games, they are scouting all players with NFL potential. Not just players they plan to take in the 1st round. They are scouting all positions. Not just “OL and WR”. That doesn’t even make sense. They may have certain players they are scouting more closely but it’s not like the scouts are sitting at a game where there is a good defensive player and ignoring him because “our offense is bad”. They aren’t taking 10 offensive players in the draft and they aren’t signing all offense as UDFAs.
The thesis of the article is that you can infer "top priorities" based on this data and that appears to be incorrect.
You actually made my point for me. Just looking at who we (overtly) scouted out of the top 10 available players doesn't give any indication of how we value the middle and late round players. It also tries to correlate number of scouting visits to interest in a player. This would be a great article if they left the thesis out that there's some correlation between who we looked at in the top 10 and what our "top priorities" are.
-
I appreciate the effort on this, but there's zero chance it's correct.
We're scouting O-Line and WR. Beane is not an idiot. He realizes how bad our Offense is and has mentioned it in press conferences.

Kind of surprising to see 32% of people still saying it's a bad trade. What would the benefit be of having McCarron right now?
-
After week 10, we know 3 new things:
- Raiders pick will likely be top 3, which makes the 5th rounder more valuable.
- Matt Barkley might be a decent backup / interim starter.
- Nate Peterman is not a decent backup / interim starter.
Curious where you all fall on this one now.

It's pretty easy.
- being surrounded by people that love the same thing as you.
- dedicating an entire day to the football experience.
- drinking outside and hanging with your friends.
- supporting a team when they're bad so you can wear it as a badge of honor when they're good.
You should be able to have a good time at the game no matter how bad the actual team is. I always do.

We got a very high third round pick in exchange for Tyrod.
That was a great deal for us.
He will never be a great QB.
You need a great QB to win consistently in the NFL.
Nothing else, including this thread, matters.
-
IF Josh Allen starts, I'm rooting for a win and we should all be doing the same.
He needs as many wins and as much locker room confidence as possible.

So this regime has earned to 2020 based off what??? Blowout loss after blowout loss?
This is the problem.
There's a huge contingent of dumb fans that want to run every single coach and GM out of town in year 2.
We made the playoffs in year 1 and that still wasn't enough for these f*ing people. A rebuild takes time.
If you want to build lasting success you can't do the same year-to-year garbage that these fans seem to want for some reason.

Comparing Rookie QB Seasons
in The Stadium Wall Archives
Posted
For comparison, here's Peyton Manning's rookie stats:
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannPe00.htm
He didn't have a team around him ... and he would be middle to bottom of every category on your list.
