No matter how good Josh is he needs as much help as he can get he has basically carried the team in the play offs for the past few years . As they say it akes all 3 phases of the team to win the big game as we all as Bills fans have seen in the 90's .

You can have a very high powered offense but if the defense doesn't get the ball back due to missed tackles and such then the offense can't score enough points to win . If ST's allows the oppositions ST's to score or get really good field position so the other team has a short field that's not good either .

Josh can cover up a lot of warts but he can only do so much he needs above average WR's that he can depend on not below average guys that haven't been able to prove them selves . We had those guys which you are trying to say to get last season in Trent Sherfield & Deonte Hardy how did that work out ?

We need clutch game wreckers. Other than Josh, no one on the Bills assumed that role in the playoffs.

  2. ....at least we've covered all the emojis...

Seriously Josh still requires a true #1 WR.  Just not a diva type who needs the spotlight.  Someone reliable in the regular season and playoffs.  Someone who understands the value of spreading the ball around to the other wrs.

Other.  Trade back from 28 for a team that wants an OT or Penix/Nix.  Take whoever is left from Legette,  Mitchell, Franklin, or Worthy.  Double dip in the 3rd or 4th round.

They'll be nothing left wr-wise by the 3rd round after the 2nd run on wrs is over. And we can still double dip this year trading up a little for BTJ then trade up in the 2nd for maybe Legette?  It can be done....

Imagine if we had Chris Jones and Travis Kelce over the past five years. Hell even just one of them and I am extremely confident we would have at least one Super Bowl win.

By the way some of these people will go in other threads saying that Beane hasn't done a good enough job finding elite players. But why does that matter if Mahomes is the main reason Allen hasn't won a Super Bowl? So deep down they know the real reason. It's just easier to boil it down to something simple.

The combination of Josh(by himself) winning against Andy, Patrick, Travis and Chris is both impossibly daunting and unrealistic. Josh needs a dynamic offensive HC. A WR1 who doesn't disrupt and a game wrecking defensive star. He has none of that.

Cosell said he sees Thomas and AD Mitchell as guys who will develop  into #1 WR's.  BUT.... there is no denying the pure speed of Worthy.  I don't know if we need a true X in the form of size. We just need guys who can beat man coverage, create space and catch the ball consistently. A guy can be 5'11 and 190lbs and do that esp if he has a good Vertical for contested balls.

Unfortunately and historically the 5-11 / 190 guy is far more susceptible to injury like Marguise Goodwin.  Give me all day long the bigger, stronger wr who still has sub 4.4 speed like Thomas or Mitchell.

Exactly this—Diggs just wasn’t drawing the double team attention anymore because it wasn’t necessary. But that should make us even more optimistic about Shakir, Kincaid and Cook continuing to improve despite Diggs exiting stage left, imho.

All I know is when Brady started de-emphacizing Diggs on offense, we started winning again. Stef's playoff numbers over the last 3 years was bad. There was never a more perfect time to make this move considering the build-up of tension between Josh and him.  I am very optimistic about the future of this team, especially if we hit on a couple of quality wrs in the draft.

Buffalo has the following picks in 2024 -

    28, 60, 128, 133, 144, 160, 163, 200 or 204, and 248.

I don't expect them to draft all of them - but i would think 6-7 picks this year.  Use some to move around as add-ons in a deal to move up.

I'd put the needs at -

WR - Probably 2.  I don't think they need to double dip in the first 2 rounds.

OL - 2 of our current starters are on rookie deals, but its always smart to invest in this position group because it keeps your QB upright, and physical defensive lines have given us issues come playoff time.  Just continue to add here every year.

DT - Austin Johnson fills the settle role, but they need a younger player under contract in this rotation at 3T.

DE - Depends if Miller ever becomes a useful player again, and what you think of Toohill and Jonathan.  Could be a target in the 2nd.

CB - Losing dane and Tre.  We've had some success with later round picks here and I'd expect 1 or 2 this season.  In the past you had benford/elam/jackson so the late round picks had their work cut out for them - but with the depth of ingram and lewis, rookies can definitely make this team.

S - Like the guys they grabbed, but middle rounds can find some pretty good players.  Depth here is pretty meh.

You had me at double dip wrs.

I’d be shocked if we signed M.Thomas.  More drama than Diggs and cannot stay on the field.

I think we’ll look to sign Boyd.  Is he capable of playing more than slot? If so, he’s the most likely vet UFA assuming we go that route instead of trade

Honestly, he’d probably be a pretty efficient 2 if absolutely needed IMO

Boyd would also be an appropriate signing and one I would welcome. Not to mention the fanbase would probably embrace him for a year thanks to him helping us out of the drought.

I think the only thing I like about this scenario is ending up with one of Legette or McConkey. I don't like Mitchell as a prospect and losing a very good 2nd round pick just to move up in the second round seems like awful value. Just take Legette or McConkey at 28.

I don't know why you're spooked over Thomas Jr or Mitchell.  I think they're both going to be solid receivers.  Guys like Worthy, Franklin & Coleman are the ones that worry me. Trading up in the 2nd round for Legette or McConkey would be amazing. Then sign M. Thomas to a cheap 1 yr deal. I think BB Gospel 2014 has a solid scenario.

  10. Beane has had his hiccups but for the most part he's been a very good GM.  He'll make the appropriate moves later this month to land us 2 quality wrs.  And I'm sure Dawson & Von will be June 1st casualties next year. Remember there will be several quality wrs hitting fa and resetting the market next March.

The thing that bothers ME, if anything, is this:

When Diggs was a Bill, all we heard about was how he was a diva, a malcontent, a headache, and was maybe showing his age last year and no longer a number one receiver.

Now that he's a Texan, he's the weapon that's gonna put them over the top, they're favorites in the AFC, he's still a #1 WR, and the Bills got fleeced.

Like...which is it? Pick a lane.

That's because the media need a new yet not necessarily truthful narrative that promotes Stroud. I think deep down they know in their hearts Stef could underperform or even "demand" targets but they're too afraid to admit it. Jones on "Speak" had the conviction yesterday to say this trade doesn't necessarily make Houston better and he thought the Bills made the right move.

after reading Dianna Russini say today that Diggs has been in contact with CJ Stroud and the texans players for over a month I wish Josh Allen would have publicly ripped diggs on the sideline after his absurd drop of a perfect pass in the most important moment of the year.

He was always too nice with the guy publicly and I know that is his demeanor and its admirable but I think he is going to love never being in this type of position again with an ego maniac like diggs.

that crap with diggs and his overrated brother last year made me mental.  I really truly hope someone in the locker room said something but I bet since Diggs had the whole situation manipulated to where he can say whatever and no one can ever question him I bet no one did.

McDermott needed to grow a pair over a year ago and nip this Diggs tantrum completely. Coaches like Belichick or Parcells wouldn't tolerate this crap. At least they did the right thing yesterday by trading him now and at least getting a 2nd. They be no cap impact next year. And if Houston thinks his diva personality won't rise up a 3rd time, they're dreaming.

Brian Thomas has huge bust potential. Doesn't seem to have good hands, doesn't display toughness, and hasn't shown the ability to run good routes either

I get that he's big and fast, but the tape doesn't lie. He either ran by people and was wide open, or he caught a screen pass and made a play. It certainly didn't hurt having Nabers on the other side with Daniels as the QB either

He is a project that might not ever realize his potential. It's not what this team needs

So who do you want and why?

In the mock I did, Thomas actually fell to #28.  It would be a dream, but I think not realistic, so I didn't choose him.

Dude if Brian Thomas makes it anywhere in the early 20's we're getting him. Guarantee it!

We need a 1, not a 2.  Slim pickings I know, I'd rather take our chances drafting one.

Yup draft 2 wrs early. Hope you hit on one to supplement Samuel, Shakir & Kincaid.  Then use all that extra cap money in 2025 to sign a younger fa wr.

Yep - that was me I think.  I believe trading up to 5/6 cost too much,  so I think Beane Monitors Thomas II and if he falls to the late teens, he tries to trade #28 and a 2025 2nd to move up and grab him.  If Thomas II goes earlier than 15, he does something like this mock draft I just did.

    #28 McConkey

    Trade #60, #133 and #160 to PHI for #50

#50 Legette (note: Coleman and Polk arestill available too if Beane prefers either).  Perhaps, if it played out this way, Beane wouldn't trade up and just wait to see who last to #60

I could live with McConkey and Legette, but deep down I'm still hoping Thomas falls to the late teens so we can make a move.
