We can argue semantics until we're blue in the face. In the end, it's irrelevant what you want to call Dunne's reporting and completely misses the point I'm making.

The point is that this existing mindset from a segment of the fanbase that a reporter shouldn't report certain opinions about a millionaire coach of a football team because it might hurt his feelings is completely absurd.

We need to bring all perspectives about this head coach to light because many people pay their hard-earned money and spend time out of their lives rooting for this team that he's in charge of. And because it's a competitive sport, our goal as fans is to witness this team winning the Super Bowl. And if there are many people out there who have experience working closely with that coach and believe he doesn't have the leadership qualities and/or coaching chops it takes to get that team there, then it should be reported to the public.

To think Dunne "could have listened to his higher angels and taken a higher road" by not reporting what former players and colleagues really think about McDermott is a disservice to the fanbase.

Agreed. We need to bring all perspectives. Folks that have been fired and cut… that brings such a three-dimensional perspective.

A host of anonymous comments about someone else’s accountability is SUCH a great service to the fan base!

  2. Beane had to completely sidestep the question about Araiza. I think it was from Tim Graham? There really isn’t a satisfactory answer.

The Bills’ top leadership is in an unenviable position. How to balance the need to win without becoming complete hypocrites. Some folks already believe one or more of them to be hypocrites. This is the kind of situation that could eventually convince more to join that chorus.

I need to look back at some of the Araiza-based press conferences. Beane today kept saying that the Bills were not investigators and that they would follow the league’s lead. That struck me as a very different process than the one highlighted during the Araiza situation, where it seemed the Bills did more of their own investigating/decision making. Maybe that perception is wrong? Maybe the Bills and/or the league have changed their process since then? I don’t know… ‘Following the league’s lead’ just rang hollow to me.

I know one thing - if I were in the Bills brass’ shoes, I’d be royally pissed with Von.

  3. I don't get it. Are you saying you don’t want to hear anything, regardless of whether or not it’s true?

For example, Von really is coming off of a major injury. What is so wrong about stating that fact?

I will never understand getting upset at what is said during press conferences. Believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see.

I laughed out loud when I saw Taron Johnson on the field for the Tush Push TD, all 170 pounds of him.

You’ve got 8 DL. Put them on the field.  At least make the Eagles do something other than push the ball up the middle.

I don’t blame McDermott.  Not a single HC does anything other than concede a first down or TD to the Eagles.

I was completely OK with how Jordan Phillips played it. The Eagles’ success rate is so high on that play that trying to jump the snap makes sense. Failing to time it just right, make the infraction count. That might be the only way to change the Eagles’ math.
