I want Thomas to do well but not too well. I don't want to settle for Mitchell or Legette.  Sweat at 60 would be amazing.

I too am on Thomas watch. He would look great as a Bill!

I can’t get myself to hold out hope for Sweat at 60. Maybe a trade up candidate if he slides into the late 40’s?

I wouldn't trade Josh Allen for anything.  Keep Mahomes' wife and brother the hell away from this team.

People used to ask if I would trade for Brady or the Hoodie for one ring, and I said no.  Same answer with Mahomes.

Also, absolutely no one could have predicted Mahomes was going to have the career he's had.  He fell to 10 for a reason.  Yes, some people thought he had potential, but at the time, no one was harping on the Bills for that trade

Wasn’t there a poster named… Jeff? Or something like that. He was absolutely pounding the table to draft Mahomes and was very distraught when the Bills traded the pick away and the Chefs took ‘em instead. I don’t recall seeing many posts from him in the years since.

I love this discussion, but I think we have  to brace for the possibility of not taking a WR in round 1.  I don’t know what Beane might be able to pull off to address DT, DE in FA, but I know that the cap situation is bad and, despite what some want to believe, the cap is not completely elastic (meaning you can’t just keep kicking money down the road forever).  At present, the team doesn’t even have enough DL to start, much less have backups.  That is real and, while it is fun to think that the Bills could just score every drive if only they could add Thomas Jr, that isn’t true.  LSU had BOTH Malik Nabors AND Thomas Jr AND Jayden Daniels at QB and they didn’t score every drive against college defenses.  Whether in 1st or 2nd and 3rd, DL needs attention.

I agree. DL is definitely in play. I too want a WR that will be a future #1, but am preparing for another first round DL.

If they think to go DL, I wonder if that makes a trade down scenario more appealing for the front office. Some of these linemen seem like they could be available at the top of round 2.

The Bills and Bills Mafia will be celebrating our ever living asses off next February.

    Just wait and see.

I too choose optimism. The 2024 Bills are still going to be one heck of an out for ANYONE. Them Bills are due to be on the right side of more than one ‘instant classic’.

It’s not just McD.  I keep looking for ANY sign of accountability in either of Pegula’s sports franchises and I haven’t seen a single one since Kim’s unfortunate health issue.  Seems like the Bills and Sabres are both flying on autopilot.

    What does “accountability” mean?

It’s weird how other teams can freely hire top talent at the coordinator positions and we have to depend on our HC and the guy behind the OC we fired. Even more weird is how people don’t see this as a problem.

That guy behind the OC was interviewed for a HC spot. A guy behind the HC was just hired as a DC elsewhere.

Moore has effectively been “fired” in back-to-back seasons.

Which of them are “top talent”?

Josh has taken a number of deep shots while Brady has been OC.  The bad news is they haven't connected on many.

The run success sets up the deep passes.

Need a deep threat WR IMO.

Strictly from memory and not any sort of data, the deep ball success rate seemed to be much worse this season than in years past. That was a mild surprise, I think. Not a one of the receivers really stepped up in this regard.

The deep ball seems to represent the biggest difference between something the team could do really well offensively (given Josh’s arm strength, his accuracy, and an o-line good enough to make the time) and something the team executed very poorly.

The Bills must find a receiver that can capitalize.

Another thing along the same lines - I thought the Bills receivers were horrible in drawing pass interference penalties. Deep balls offer ample opportunity. I mean, Denver used it to their advantage in the MNF game this season. We saw a big one in the 49ers-GB playoff game. It’s like the Bills’ receivers are content in allowing the defenders to sit on the WR’s hip, rather than forcing the defender to make contact.

This is precisely why I am pro going very conservative in 2024. Any major restructure to clear space is just destroying our cap efficiency. Outside of discontent it is my biggest reason for me advocating moving on from Diggs for the extra $3M pre June 2024 rather than 2025.

My one quibble on this is moving on from Knox. It doesn't really provide any relief or any value. I think he could maybe be prime for an extension after 24/25 to lower his cap hit with a lesser value. Dawson will have to decide if he still wants to be apart of this for the future as a secondary TE option on passing downs or does he want to take more money to be a primary elsewhere. I think he stays.

A trimming the fat, tightening their Belts 2024 (possibly even a down year) might be the best path to future success in 2025 and beyond.

For everyone wanting a WR - statistics say round # 1 picks are a coin flip relative to productivity in year #1.

Can you back this up with data? My hypothesis is that early round receivers are producing more and are doing it more quickly than in years past.

This is a heavy draft on WRs, trading up feels foolish see Sammy Watkins 2.0 Toss in think we need as many picks as possible with so many pending UFAs will have a lot of holes to fill. Depending how UFA turns out I'd think a guy like Troy Franklin could be there for picking at number 28 and fits our need for speed.

I don’t disagree. I think it is Beane’s MO to jump up a few spots for the player(s) his team has identified.

A LOT of WRs will be drafted in round 1 this year. Even though it is deep, it may still be required to jump up.

This draft is too deep at WR, and we have too many other needs, to make a double WR pick in the 2nd.

It would be a re-do of the Boogie Basham mistake all over again.

Plus, there arent that many balls to go around to justify that value of taking our 5th receiving option in the 2nd round.

We should be able to take a WR in the 1st and another in the 4th-6th and still score some top talent while plugging our other holes with guys who can contribute right away as well.

One thought about this: We need to consider the possibility of Diggs being over the hill. That’s a LOT of targets up for grabs.

  11. I think the Bills will end up trading up for a WR. I think they may leave the draft with two.

A WR that can reliably win deep is an absolute necessity. Beyond that, the Bills need a route runner / separator that is the heir apparent to Diggs.
