You’re misunderstanding me either purposefully or other. You’re telling me you’re worried about going for one of the 4ths because it gives the Bucs a chance at a short field if they stop the Bills. That creates a potential “ballgame” out of a comfortable lead. I’m telling you the team did what you’re advocating for and it ended up being a ballgame decided on the last play, anyway.

You’re totally focused on the last 4th down, which I said was not a bad decision. 2 other 4th and shorts from past the 50 up 14 with plenty of time, even if they’re stopped doesn’t significantly increase the Bucs win %. Get 1 of them however and the Bills % does. “One stop and it’s a ballgame”?? It ended up being a ballgame anyway using what you and the coaches think is sound logic.

The team is 2-1 in their last 3 games against bottom half teams. The Giants game should have been a loss too. So possibly 1-2 against not high powered Os. Any above avg O and they could be 0-3. The point being, the D is not up to snuff AND the rules favor offense so you have to do something to mitigate that as a coach. This idiot refuses to acknowledge that. I’m not even advocating for going for it on that last 4th down but there were plenty of opportunities to put the game away earlier that he passed up. Being aggressive then is a way to mitigate the end game scenario.

Almost no defense can hold an opposing offense down 1 score with the game on the line because the NFL rules and officials are stacked in favor of the offense. Defensive-minded old school aholes like McD can’t grasp this and consistently put their players in positions to lose not win.

This isn’t by chance. After half they put together a stellar drive and score. Then up 14 McD got his grubby hands into the kitchen and started influencing decisions. Offense looked completely different, stalls, and you then give the Bucs the time to inch back in.
