We're already better than we were after week 2 last year. Even if we don't make anymore fa moves.
Upgraded OL - love the signing
Upgraded WR - love the signing
I think both will turn out to be steals for what we paid them.
Healthy White/Hyde/Poyer
Dodson was 4-0 in place of Edmunds last year. Get a lb in rd 3 after drafting OL and WR and stay healthy most importantly and we'll be contending for the 1 seed in a stacked conference again.
Love your optimism. I'll hangup and wait on that.

This work by Beane is totally in keeping with the McBeane's process. 1. Maintain/upgrade talent, 2. don't go after shiny, expensive, aged bad boy FAs, 3. pull 2-3 starters out of the draft every year. Maintain a great locker room / QB room culture (don't let any player feel like they are alone in WNY in December- make it a family) He is doing exactly that again. This team will be top 5 for years to come.
Trust the Process. It ain't flashy, but it works.
Hope you're right. Top five for years to come?? We'll see are they top five now? Maybe.

Not worried; Rogers is old and well past his prime.
They only need him for a couple years. Their defense is already better than ours in my opinion.

The only thing about this free agency frenzy that worries me is Rogers going to the Jets. They already had a very good D and now they have the quarterback. I think they are right there with us now and maybe will be the division favorites. Meanwhile Miami is closing in. We need to find a linebacker and upgrade our offensive line. Beane needs to draft very well or the tide will shift.
-
Well way over the cap and restructuring was not genius. Frankly you could argue if cap management was that good to begin with. Also to judge the off season at this point is premature. What we are waiting for is solid moves/draft to address obvious needs. Then we'll be able to grade how well our GM has done. One thing I am concerned with is I think Miami has gained on us and wth Rogers in New York it could be argued the Jets may now be the division favorites. In short our GM has work to do before we're giving him accolades.

I'll never understand why somebody bothered to take the time to create a fake account and get 300 followers just to post a fake NFL rumor. What do they get for the trouble?
They get to prove what a..holes they are. Probably some 12 year old getting his jollies

If the Rodgers deal falls through, the Jets will be desperate enough to give Lamar what he wants. People will be more angry about that than Watson getting the guaranteed deal because that’s the world we live in now.
This is all drama. This deals been done.

That’s exactly right……..and you don’t like that he has the free flowing spirit he has and I’m sure you didn’t like his stances recently
Not just recently but yes.

He must have slapped or punched a woman or something? Some kind of abuse or broke the law in some way?
Not a problem for you apparently. We all have our own values and are free to choose them. He's someone I personally would grow very weary of quite quickly. Having said that he's been a great quarterback and will upgrade that position significantly for the Jets.

What baggage?
His character. Narcissistic tendencies. Not uncommon in his profession but still don't desire them on my team.

Rogers is a very good quarterback who I wouldn't want near my team. Some guys baggage is too overwhelming in spite of other considerations. Unfortunately for the Jets they've got themselves in a position they need him regardless.
-
I have wondered about our cap management. Seems for being over the cap by what we were prior to the recent restructuring that we have a few elite players but top to bottom seems we could have used the money better. You have no choice but pay a franchise quarterback but then maybe spread the rest more evenly. For example as great as Diggs is would it be better to have two very good receivers than one elite one. Just wondering.

To me it says he really doesn't want to be there, but he doesn't want to walk away from the money either. Rodgers is a strange guy. I just hope the Jets give up a lot to get him. Mortgage their future for what probably won't amount to a Super Bowl appearance or championship anyway.
Adam Schefter on Twitter: "Jets are actively working to reach an agreement with Packers’ free-agent WR Allen Lazard, per league sources. There is another team involved, and no final decision, but the Jets are trying to reunite Lazard and OC Nathaniel Hackett. https://t.co/rkzX17o5do" / Twitter
I think at the start of next season the Jets will be the division favorite but Rogers will have one or two good years and that's it. If Rogers falls off or is injured the Jets are back to where they were. Unfortunately the Bills are cap strapped to keep pace with Miami and Jets so it's a tight race in our division.

Wonder who they'll get for DC. I'm happy, I can't stand Frazier
My guess they won't get another DC. McDermott is the coordinator.

Pathetic. If you think it was good then we have a complete opposite view of talent.

These halftime shows are pathetic. If you're that talented you don't need all the other stuff. Just go out there and sing. This is geared to such an adolescent crowd.

Beane has no choice? Lol, you mean McDermott.Beane looks at the books and the cap. McDermott runs this entire organization.
What evidence do we really have to make such a definitive statement. I'm not saying that McDermott doesn't have input as most any head coach I expect does but that doesn't mean he runs the entire organization.
-
No. I'm happy for them. Why shouldn't I be?

Don't know that I buy into this whole drama but wide receivers are inclined to be male divas.

Agree completely with the OP.
Even more frustrating hearing how “it’s tough to win” or “the playoffs are a crapshoot”.
Ok…
New England lived in the Super Bowl with Brady.
KC has been there 3 of the last 4 years.
The Bengals, relative newcomers, 2 years in a row in the AFC Championship Game.
McDermott should get one more year to get us, at least, back to the AFC Championship Game. If not, and even depending on how that game goes - should we not advance to the SB, discussions of moving on from him need to be had.
Maybe we should be asking about the GM more than the coach. Unless the coach is making draft decisions.

They don't suck but they do have weaknesses that must be fixed.
Beane again showing why he is a top GM

My feeling is you may have over evaluated Beane in your OP. I like him and think he's above average even but you seem to think of him more highly than most I suspect.
