McDaniel is doing a good job so far but its early in his HC career. McDermott has been a great REGULAR SEASON coach, but the playoff failures are getting old. If the Bills fail again in the playoffs this year or worse don't make it then McDermott's job security in Buffalo will come into question.

McDermott is not a great coach and not a bad one. Guess average to slightly above.

The mishandling of high draft picks and sending their best players off to other teams were hallmarks of the end of the Wilson era, but so was signing big name FAs like Mario Williams and Terrell Owens to put butts in the seats rather than to make the team better.  It's why I don't whine about Beane like so many others on this board.  I'll take honest -- if sometimes unsuccessful --  attempts to build a winning team any day over the crap show Bills fans suffered through prior to 2018.   There is nobody ever associated with the NFL I loathe more than Russ Brandon.

Let me get this straight . You like bad rather than worst? Boy you set the level pretty high.

The rest I’m not so worried about. It concerns me that going into the season a SB caliber team before any injuries has 2 significant holes. Understanding cap restraints there has to be something once all cuts are made.

Playoff caliber team? Yes. Superbowl caliber? Don't personally think so nor did I last year. Not being a Debby Downer but merely saying what to me is reality. We've had holes in our defense and offense. A few elite players with some very good players and too many weak ones. Hopefully they improve the weak ones or we're a wildcard team.

Like McD in 2017 & 2019, Belichick got in on an easy schedule with 8 of his wins coming from non-playoff teams and 7 of them coming from mostly the worst teams all with losing records.  As with any coach, I'm not going to hand out particularly credit for capitalizing on an easy schedule, the "you can only play who's on the schedule" rap aside.  That's true, but it does not alter things one iota.  He got obliterated in those playoffs too, which says more than beating 8 easy teams en route to 10 wins.

Anyway, no interest in debating McD v. BB, or even BB otherwise.  The fact stands, that in 10 other seasons without Brady, Belichick's track record as a head coach wouldn't have gotten him anything else other than another DC job.  Meanwhile, Brady went on to win another SB with a relatively average on a good day head coach, while leading the Bucs to a 32-18 record otherwise, something that that franchise has never achieved in its entire existence.

    Again, not really the point.

The question remains, is the talent on this team being optimized?

it'd be a great poll question.  Go ahead and pose it.

    They were 13-3??? That's optimal!

  5. In the heat of the game it's understandable but months before the games start. Now that's something a bit obsessive. Love the Bills and Sabres but they are not even on my list of things most important to me.

Our standard as fans back in the '90s was a lot different.

The drought era took its toll on the fans here.  Now a good regular season record and simply "making the playoffs" is good enough.

I remember being massively dejected with every Super Bowl loss except for the Skins one, which I kind of expected.  Lead foot Rypien had the best or one of the best OLs in NFL history.

I've been around since the AFL days. Drought actually makes me enjoy this team more. Those Super Bowl losses were tough but I still got to watch a great team. I like football for the game . I would rather have consistent winner year to year than just one year run to the championship. Point is is the championship all we want. Of course we want a ring  but all is not lost if we don't get it either.

  7. Coach and GM aside I find it interesting that so many fans can't enjoy a team that wins so many games. I've criticized the team in areas I think we may have them overrated but in spite of that they've won a lot of games lately. Are some fans of championships more than fans of football..... Just asking?

When Dan Synder still ran that team, I'm literally shocked that Cowherd wasn't given a shot as GM, or the Lions, or something like that.

Or members of sports forums. We fans/sports talk hosts talk sometimes like we really know more than coaches.......we don't, we know less. Still we enjoy the back and forth.😁

What about my statement is not true?

We heard of some issues Diggs had in Minnesota. A lot of us, to include myself, didn’t give a whole lot of credence to perceived issues.

Four years later, one player doesn’t show to a mandatory session. This after the last time we saw him he was flapping his arms on the sidelines like he was going to take flight while yelling at Allen.

Diggs is a great talent. He also appears to be emotionally fragile and doesn’t handle adversity all that well. The social media stuff is down right stupid and further shows the “me” in him.

I believe this is accurate. Some fans may not want to hear it. I also believe it's Diggs being who he is and will be there in camp and play.

Wait and see mode for this.  Diggs could have left for a number of reasons.  I have no issues with most of his "antics" if you will (i.e. his sideline passion, cryptic tweets, etc.).  Would like for him to address why he wasn't in practice today, but honestly, if the dude shows up for real practices near preseason, I could care less.  The dude is hyper competitive and flies off the rails sometimes.  I can deal with that if he puts up the stats he does year over year.

    He's a wide receiver......... Nuf said😎
