He was killing Spencer Brown in the playoff game too. Josh’s incredible 4th and 3 scramble was set up by Ingram destroying Brown in half a second flat.

I have watched that play a dozen times at least.  He just slapped Brown’s inside shoulder and floored all 325 lbs of him to the grass.  Worth mentioning that Brown and the whole line was probably exhausted well before that point but Spencer got seriously schooled by Ingram.
Then Josh escaped both Ingram and Monster Jones diving at him to convert yet another 4th down.

Did anyone catch C Jones talking to Josh right after the game.  Don’t know exactly what was said but there was some serious respect given by Jones. My respect for Jones actually doubled after seeing him go out of his way to give Allen his props like that.  True respect.

Now that the dust has settled from the draft and we move closer to the 2022 season, was curious what the current pulse is on McDermott. Expectations are obviously sky high in Buffalo and it's truly SB or bust as far as a lot of fans and pundits see it.

On one hand the McDermott is still the best HC this franchise has seen since Levy and the 90's, but on the other the stench of playoff loss in KC still looms large and could be an issue in the locker room if this team gets off to a slow start in 2022. I would go as far to say his regular season record against playoff teams and never being able to win a road playoff game is a root cause for serious concern as well.

Adding a poll here but personally there are 2 scenarios I would pull the trigger on dumping McDermott after 2022:

    1) We have a losing season/miss playoffs (with major injuries NOT being a factor in this).

    2) We lose to KC in the playoffs for a 3rd straight season regardless of round or whether game is in Buffalo/KC.

Either of these happen and the Pegulas have to seriously ask themselves where they seem the direction of this team heading under McDermott knowing you are only going to get so many bites at the apple once Allen's contract kicks in similar to Mahomes in KC. Beane cannot show blind loyalty either IMO and look at himself and McDermott as a package deal moving forward.

All due respect,  but you are a total dumb as and I’m immensely happy you are not in charge of this team.  What are you like 15?

    More complicated than that.

The Bills didn't win their division in 2017, but played the Titans in 2018. They didn't win the division in 2018, but played the Titans in 2019.  They didn't win the division in 2019, but played the Titans in 2020...should I go on?

I think the Bills and Titans are just mirroring each other in the standings of their division.

It’s my fault actually.  I live in East TN snd I’ve been slipping Goodell a fresh $5 bill to get the Titans in our schedule.  I know it’s getting a little out of hand now.   😊

This is all true, and people have been broken by less. As a person, I sympathize with him.

Separating the human being and the player is always tough.

I feel Seantrell Henderson and even Cole Beasley have been unfairly caught in the TBD/TSW sniper fire.

That all said, it is not like he was left on his own in Buffalo.

The Bills acknowledged his losses and tried to help. A lot of employers to everyday people do a lot less.

Buffalo took him in the 1st before everyone else, clearly wanted him.

They stood by him during his off field issues and losses

Buffalo offered him professional mental health services free of charge, when things started spiraling. He said what he needed to, to get paid but never went.

Kyle Williams personally tried to be a Big Brother and mentor

Got a $100M 2nd contract, despite everything known behind closed doors, and up and down production, and chose to loaf/ refuse help

Despite all of that he had a second chance in Jacksonville.

Buffalo traded him in 2017. It is all conjecture, but Buffalo did trade him to one of the closest teams in the South to what remained of his base at home.

in 2018 he had 2 sexual assault charges (Civil) - including a claim he gave a woman Herpes

After 2019 he was out of the league.

A lot of people deal with a lot of terrible things in life. You may be surprised the things some people on this board have been able to overcome.

Loss ends up being a big part of all people's lives. Some folks face it earlier than others, or in concentrated clusters.

MD faced a lot of loss in a very short span, early in life, and I can sympathize with that.

Maybe MD was too young/ proud/ hurt at the moment to take the help offered. He would not be the first man to do so and he won't be the last.

But at some point a person is responsible for their own actions.

No one is laughing at his losses, just his poor decisions and their outcomes.

As much as I laugh along, a part of me does hope he has a redemption lap. Even my thoughts about Ryan Leaf have changed.

Given his history you can understand why people are skeptical.

I do believe @RocCityRoller might be a true empath.  What amazing insight to share with us.  As a person living with bipolar disorder 1 myself, I can identify with lots of these knuckleheads in so many ways but it’s a truly amazing gift to be able to express difficult and complicated things in this way.  I really appreciate these thoughts.

The trade is all semantics. Like if they don't trade up maybe they lose Elam. Maybe they trade down, or take someone they don't want as much at 25. Sure they would still have their 4th, but it's a gamble.

Let's say they stay put. They draft Elam (maybe), then they take Cook and Bernard. Beane essentially said the trade downs in the 2nd were to recoup picks, ammo. If he doesn't lose that 4th maybe he doesn't trade down. Let's say he never trades down and just takes Cook and then Bernard, he would have taken Shakir in the 4th. So all the trade up really cost him was that 5th, but they probably don't have those extra sixths. Probably take Araiza in the fifth, followed by Benford and Spector. So in reality, the trade up really just cost them a 5-6. That is how I see it in my mind. They had 8 picks and they drafted 7 guys. And rounds 1-4 go the same IF Elam is still there at 25. If he is really their guy, it is too much of risk to lose him even if there is a small chance someone takes him.

I think us non-data-nerds can thank you for even extrapolating this far.  I’m sure Beane’s head started hurting from all the over thinking and he just pulled the trigger to save on aspirin later on

  6. I hadn’t realized Levi only clocked a 4.63 forty time.  Elam ran like 4.39 or something.  Big difference against speed like KC had.

I liked Elam’s first 24 hours vid.  Not flashy but he’s a good dude and genuine.  Great culture fit.  Overall big picture you can pretty much see how much he can improve with good coaching to gain the consistency he has the potential to achieve.

Calling it now……Greg Rousseau gets double digit sacks in 2022.

#1 - Von Miller on the other side getting double teamed ……lots of 1on1 action for GR.

#2 - Learning from Von Miller is gonna take his game to the next level.

#3 - Our offense is gonna force alot of opponents to throw the ball to try and play catch-up …….GR will be able to pin his ears back and eat.

#4 - A full year in Buffalo’s strength and conditioning program.

i feel good about him in 22…….12-15 sacks…..calling it now!

These are the kinds of thoughts I have when I've had 2 too many beers on any given evening in the off-season.  Except the "Calling it now!" part.  Don't know why but that phrase just irks the crap out of me.  No offense OP.  I'm in total agreement with you.

This is Sean McDermott's franchise. I say it often. He is the one with the ultimate decision making power. He empowers Beane and trusts him but if he wanted to veto anything he has that ability.

Probably right.  But why do we even need to go here in our conversations? I mean,  things are going so friggin’ nicely right now why mess with the mojo?

Lest we all forget all-too-recent history of our beloved Bills organization.
In other words,  why stir stuff up just for the sake of stirring stuff up?

You all might benefit from adding this song to your playlists.  Certainly helps me chill and keep things in perspective.  And if you know me, you will definitely agree that  I can use all of that I can get:

  9. Gunner you should seriously be getting paid for all this great work you do all the time.  The Pegulas should seriously consider throwing something your way.💰

(even inspired me to go find a money bag emoji and I am not exactly a big emoji type person 😁)

  10. I personally think Cleveland has a very big chance of moving to Toledo.  But don't quote me on that.

And Miami to Ft. Lauderdale?  Could happen.

But if I'm a Colts fan, I'm probably losing sleep over the possibility of the moving to the gleaming metropolis of Gary, IN.   Now that they have Matty Ice though, maybe not so much worry.

    But what do I know?

With QB/WR/CB contracts making up such large % of the cap. That's if you're even lucky enough to be in that position with a QB. Now put yourselves in the shoes of teams that don't have a clear QB. Do you really try and model teams like Buffalo? It took us 20 years to find a QB and plenty of wasted draft capital in the process. The league is always evolving and I can't help but think we are at a crossroads with the way teams go about building.

We saw Baltimore take Lamar with this type of mindset.  They had no intention of running a traditional NFL offense. Ironically, they very well could end up paying a traditional franchise QB price tag. Then New England last year. Both franchises really did not place a big focus on the traditional passing game. Spend resources in areas other teams aren't. Run the football and play great defense. This has been enough to allow playoff appearances by both teams but that is as far as it's gotten. Perhaps that's as far as it can go.

All I know is if I'm in the AFC right now I'm looking at about a dozen teams that have a nuclear bomb and I don't know if my goal is to keep up with that arms race. I think I have a better chance fighting this battle differently.

Is this something you expect we will see championed by more teams in the coming years? More teams essentially reverting back to more of a traditional football strategy?

    Huh?

I for surely thought Allen was going to the Jets.  At every Wyoming home game, I mostly saw Jets scouts moving in and out of the press boxes.

This is very interesting intel.  Thanks for sharing.

And think about how Josh would have probably turned out by now had he gone to the Jests or the Browns.  I can't imagine he would have turned out quite the same without all the incredible support from the Bills organization.

But all this talk about our Joshie not being a Buffalo Bill (hypothetically) just makes me so sad.  😪
