1. Mike Lamb, who used to do a national radio show (Fox Sports, I think), is now on daily in Sacremento, KHTK.  He was commenting on the hiring of Jauron, and said it was a very good fit for Buffalo.  He believed that Jauron is the best coach available to work with Marv.  He and Marv used to do a show together, and said the hiring of Marv is what could be considered to be the best hire in the NFL in many years.

Just some food for thought.

Well many on this board would disagree they would say Hiring Marv as GM was dumb. That we are hiring bad HC, OC and probably even water boys.

2. That's a FALSE accusation - Brown was actually rarely called for false start or holding penalties.  When he was released and everyone made posts similar to yours in regards to penalties, I analyzed his last three seasons in Buffalo, looking over every play in the play by play, and his penalty count was well below 1/game (including false start AND holding).  It's just a myth.

I think problem with Rueben was he usually did it at a critical moment so it always seemed to have more of an impact.

3. I'll be the first to admit, I was one of the many who was in favor in benching Losman for Holcomb.  After watching the last 3 games, I have changed my tune.

The bottom line is this:  What has Kelly Holcomb done to really show that he deserves to start over JP? In my opinion, the only thing he has really done in his three starts that's noteworthy is NOT LOSE GAMES.  To be completely honest, IMHO, I have seen him only make one spectacular throw, and that was to Campbell last week.  His numbers are very modest, and while he may be completing 70 percent of his passes, he's averaging like 160 yards per game. He absolutely cannot throw an accurate pass beyond 15 or 20 yards. In the last 3 games, how many deep balls has he thrown? maybe 4, and each one was horribly missed. From badly underthrowing Moulds, to badly overthrowing Evans and Reed.  He has fumbled a snap or a handoff in each of his 3 starts, and has NO ability to run if the pocket collapses.

This is not a good football team, on either side of the ball. Even if we were to make it into the playoffs, what are the chances of us beating the likes of New England, Indianapolis, Denver, Pittsburgh...slim to none. We need to let JP in there and get his lumps now.

Many people think that we should start Holcomb in the New England game next Sunday. I think that this would be a perfect time to get JP in there. Let him get that game experience playing in the national spotlight. Yes, throw him to the wolves, he's going to have to do it eventually, why not let him get a taste now?

Every game he sits is one more game next year he'll still need for development. This team is going nowhere in the state we're in. Lets let the kid become a man.

NO NO NO NO NO. Let JP start the after bye game not a massacre waiting to happen on sunday night.

4. Grand Jury Indictment, Witch Hunt, same thing.

Granted it isn't as rock solid as impeaching a President for lying about a blow job but I guess we will just have to endure this Grand Jury madness for awhile.

457945

I just love american politics a Presindent gets impeached for lying about a blow job and another sits happy in the white house about lying about Iraq Hmmmm must have been a bunch of jealous folks wishing they had been the ones receiving a blow job!

I hate when bad things happen to people like this...

457858

I just love Delays comment that this is a politically motivated DA leading a grand jury ....... Just glad to see what goes around comes around. Amazing how the right wants to deflect this all by bringing up sins/or alledged sins of left versus the fact that they are just as guilty of these same sins/crimes/misallocations etc.

6. So Bush is asking all americans to help out by limiting our driving and buying of gasoline, telling govt workers to avoid unnecessary travel and he is off making his 7th visit to Gulf region to show he cares and is helping out.

Wonder how much fuel is used for AF1, Marine 1, support aircraft, all those armored cars etc. I think its time that George show leadership like other presidents and families did during times of war/disaster etc. and show how he is conserving energy in limiting travel, conserving fuel in whitehouse etc.

7. Gotta be the worst possible source to quote.  There is no reason to think this is true at all and if it were, my reaction would be worry for the country first and sympathy for the President and his family second.  I would wish most that he quickly recover and finish his Presidency.  Further, I would think that anyone who would start calling him a "drunk" or some such slam would be ashamed of themselves.  I don't care for the man but he is the President and I think politics are bad eough without that kind of overheated rhetoric.

Mickey agree with you, forget about who the person is alcoholism is a serious illness and many have fallen off the wagon for much less serious reasons.
8. Well, this year there's apparantly going to be a new feature where they compress the game into a 30 minute segment; I'm not sure of the details, but it's pretty close to what your friends want.

But ya need superfan to get that based on my understandings

9. The only year we ever had the old logo and wore blue pants was in 1973, possibly 1972

also, then in 1974 we changed the look of the Buffalo on our logo.

I believe that after Sundays game when everyone sees the throwbacks, there's going

to be a call out to go back to that lighter shade of blue ... I'm not particularly in love

with the navy ...

431824

I agree I like the lighter blue as well. I still think the white jersey with the blue pants circa 1973 with the white charging Buffalo helmet was the best look of all time. The white on white stinks but at least the current white Jersey has a good amount of color on it.

10. So I am working on the DTV ugrade with other perks to get to a TiVo HD box however I have some movies still on old Tivo that I would like to move. Any ideas I dont want to pull old VCRs out. I guess I can leave the old Tivo box around to just play those movies from it assuming as part of the package they dont take away my old TiVo. Any other ideas I do have a DVD burner on computer.

11. They have TiVo?  And you think it's too complex...???

TiVo is the gold standard of User Interfaces.  Their design decisions always ask the question, "Can my grandmother work this?"

You must be talking about a standard receiver, not a TiVo, right...?

CW agree TiVo is the easiest interface to use. My wife loves it and she still struggles with windows XP

12. This tropical storm located off of the coast of Florida.  I hope this B word doesn't move up the coast and cause bad driving conditions early this weekend.  I need to get to Buffalo unscathed, lol.  I didn't know there was anything out there until I saw the Weather Channel this morning.

431732

Well living in NC local weather folks have been talking about it for days now it was classified as a "system of interest"

13. One thing to consider for broadband is DSL versus roadrunner. As one poster noted they see issues with roadrunner during peak times, this is do to the fact everyone in your neighborhood is using the same transport. Just like that highway that during some parts of day is vitrually empty but bottlenecked at peak is the issue with roadrunner or broadband cable. DSL if you can get it in your area is a much better choice.

14. First they move Empire Sports to a pay channel, and by doing this they pretty much put the nail in the coffin.  Then they refuse to get the NFL network no matter how many people ask for it.  I know of a lot of poeple that have sent E-Mails to them.  Now they are going to show the Jets on Sunday vs. The Bills.  It is not like I live in California or something.  I live in Elmira NY.  The Bills have been trying to market to western NY for years, but it doesnt help when the stupid cable company is trying to rape the people of WNY.  The more I think about it, Direct TV is looking better every day.  The problem is that I like my local channels and Road Runner.  Well, I am sorry for the rant, but Time warner is the biggest rip off going.

  ;)

431150

My only question for folks still on cable is what the heck took ya so long. DTV has better customer service, limited outages, better packages and prices and most of all SUNDAY TICKET!!!

15. Where did this sentiment come from exactly? the Bills signed him as a backup to

JP, not a starter. As for KH, everyone remembers his one statistical monster playoff game against pittsburgh, and one good game last year. But when and where did this notion that he can lead us to the playoffs start? Sure we have a great defense that can carry the team, and JP is still an unknown (i think he'll turn out fine when all is said and done), by why the sudden love-fest for KH by some?

Here are some stats to ponder (i'm sorry to let facts get in the way of a good "JP sucks, start KH rant")

He's only started 13 career games, and in the only extended action he saw, over 8 games, here were his numbers...

2003, 8 games started, 10 total

193-302 63%, 1797 yards, 10 TD 12 int's

this doesnt exactly instill a lot of confidence in me.

2002, 4 games

2 good, a combined 44-69, 524 yds, 5 TD's 0 int's (a 49-30 loss to KC, and a 20-7 win vs Cincy)

2 so-so games, combined 20-37, 266 yds, 3 TD's 4 INT's (a 26-21 loss to balt, and a 24-16 win over atl)

2004, 2 games

1 good game 30-39, 413 yds, 5 TD's, 2 INT's (58-48 loss to cincy)

1 so-so, 20-29, 228 yds1 TD, 2 INT's (22-14 win vs houston)

To me, these facts say that holcomb has put up a few big games in his career that everyone remembers, but everyone also overlooks the slew of mediocre games hes had. Also, the stats tell me that holcomb tends to throw a good number of INT's as well...

And if we are going to have a QB turn the ball over, i'd rather it be JP while hes developing, than have it be KH and have us lose another year. I think we'll go 9-7 this year, but i'd rather go 7-9 with JP as opposed to 9-7 with holcomb.

So, i would trust holcomb coming in for a game or 2 if JP goes down, but those of you that think he'll lead us to the playoffs by starting the season may be a bit off...if he was such a great starter, then some team other than cleveland would have been interested in him as a starter.

430570

Because for some reason some Bills fans want a QB controversy involving a player wearing the number 7 Jersey <_< Personally I am rooting for whomever is aligning behind center and wearing a Bills Uni.

16. Really appreciate this article.

430497

Someone must have taken Sully's computer an wrote this for him. Man I miss Buffalo in the fall not just football but cool nights, cortland apples, concord grapes and fishing for yellows and salmon. Oh Well instead I will be playing golf each sunday AM and heading home in time to catch sunday ticket and the Bills!

17. My wife said something that really rung a bell and could happen.

She said watch and see all the big business buy up all that land and make it one big casino.  They will cash in on the whole Marti Gras thing making that a "family theme park." Expensive as all hell one time a year event.

429525

Better casino owners paying for this than it coming out of my taxes. I like the idea of moving saints to LA than we can stop all this useless discussion about Bills moving there.
18. Yesterday before I left for work I had a half tank but figured that I'd top off at $2.69 at the Exxon close to my house.  When I got home from work it was $2.99 and when I got back from my softball game it was $3.59!!  I thought that the law in NC was that prices could only be changed once within 24 hours?

425380

Attorney General is now investigating price gauging
